Absolutely I agree, I just bought a (15 month old) 220d here in the UK. That’s actually the perfect power plant with 400nm and around 190 hp ( they just stopped making diesel version also so it’s gonna be a rarity) i get around 61 Miles per gallon average on a mixed run , cabin has the largest screen version 8 speed auto and apple cp, in storm bay which is a lovely violet grey metallic … I love it ( and I came out of an X3 for a complete change )
I own this car (218i) switched from Mini Cooper Countryman 2020. It feel and drives fantastic. Sitting position is great, good grip, on the highway performs well. For that money u don’t expect m4 performance 😂 For daily use it’s great value for the money. Drove both A Class Sedan and Mazda CX30 before purchase and they don’t compare to 218i. Cheers
different models cater to different crowd. This caters to people who is usually driving alone or couple and dont have rear passengers. Another group is those who already owns a car and looking for a 2nd more fun looking one. And most people dont carry luggage everywhere they go daily. The bootspace is more than enough for daily commute to the supermarket or shopping.
What is a “real” BMW? There is no such thing! BMW is just an overrated German carmaker out to make a profit. So, they just make a range of products to cater to different segments and different markets. If you like the looks and the image and its capabilities are enough for you given the kinds of speed limits and the kinds of roads you drive on, then you should buy it and enjoy it. There is no need to sweat over any juvenile adulation for any particular car or brand. It is just a car after all.
This car is seriously good looking and something different offered by bmw after they pinjam the fwd layout from mini……not the best handling but I think the style is everything here 😅, not this car’s fault where the power output and drivetrain are less exciting, if they brought in higher specced 2 series gran coupe, how to sell their 320? Which to me is really lacking in power but thank god rwd at least the fun is still there…just enjoy the presence of this 218i at least people who willing to spend on this car can offer us something too look at in a traffic jam😅
Yup, if u want / need attention...that 218 will suffice. But if u just want to enjoy driving & prefer to remain low profile..that arteon will be a great choice....anyway, if u want more attention but still want a vw group product....can opt for an audi. 😀
@@muhammadasyrafiamirhassan7309 Arteon design might looks sleek. And it is very obvious when you drive to a street that are crowded, most of the people will look at your car 🤣. The bad things I doesn’t like about this car is: Don’t expect this car to be fuel efficient, drink minyak like hell lol, and the dashboard always have sound, the suspension have sound during raining. It’s weird that a 5 months old car have this kind of sounds lol. And the price is a premium car price lol.
I've got a 235i and a 330i, near always take the 235i. Its a great looking car with plenty of power and fantastic build quality. These reviews are usually biased. People always prefer either mercedes, bmw, or audi, and 99% of the time, they are needlessly harsh on the other brands they dont like as much.
The car is sick and that's all that matters. Performance are for enthusiasts, this is entry level for most people to feel what BMW feels like. iPhone XR is one of the most best selling iPhone models out there, and it has a LCD. Why? Because it "feels" like a X, and that's what people want.
This kind of car is meant to be all lookers non practical, underwhelming performance and ride. Car manufactuer knows that, but you could pick up girls with that, can I do it with my Iriz? No. Is it giving me a comfy seats even I'm in jam? F yes. There's something for everyone
We were looking to downgrade to something smaller from our Jeep and were looking for something for city driving and small. The 218i fits the brief and has been running like a dream. If I want power then I will go for a 3 series. Ultimately you get what you pay for. I think for city driving it is absolutely great but then that's just my opinion.
I own this car a year now. Couldn’t be more excited. Obviously you are a hater! It drives good it has good quality it is practical. You should do something else than reviewing cars. You don’t have it in every way!!!
I think you need to look at this car differently, (say) as a relatively eco-friendly alternative to a full hybrid. Compared to most full hybrids, it has reasonable handling and balance, a premium feel and (mostly) good looks. Think of the benefit of this small front mounted engine as emitting low CO2 levels rather than one lacking in performance. I am a petrol head and I've owned many (40+) cars including 6 M Sport BMWs. In my view, this car offers me (and perhaps others) a stepping stone towards a greener future and at reasonable cost without sacrificing driving appeal, quality or comfort. Reaching nearly 70 years old, I am at an age where I don't want to drive on the ragged edge anymore and to me this is still 'the ultimate driving machine', just in a different form!
Honestly it is sad that the social impact and current generation are so obsessed with the image and brands. Because honestly as an enthusiast this is an AWFUL car. A terrible product. However the branding caché it has is enough for people to "upgrade" Honestly spending 1/2 the price on an X50 or about the same on an Arteon would be my choice. Because one thing that is missed in the review is Exclusivity. The BMW 2GC is now very common, and that cheapens an already cheap car.
All it has is THE BADGE .. There is nothing special mechanically, exterior and the interior. The 320i is just a bit more but way much better in overall package. I think the 218i will soon be discontinued here because it doesn't make sense.
Arteon is different level , cannot compare to this. . The plus point is the frameless window 😌.. The badge, hmm.. It give an impression 'i can't afford 3-series'
ok now i know why inside is so cramp and small ... because its a sports car and sports car is for the young and slim and need to watch budget mentioned interior cabin is quite premium... then went on to explain how its "QUITE" premium. it is not premium. very old school/backward kind of quality for the interior.
