This trial has not only given me so many hours of viewing but it’s been a lesson in how those fancy lawyers can charge what they do, the expert witnesses have been amazing. The biggest thing though is having so many people show their support for Johnny with their truthful, funny, fondness for him.

Yes but Amber's attorneys are attempting to prove that the bad publicity and accusations were made well before the OpEd Amber "wrote." Mr. Depp is suing for the defamation the OpEd caused.

Right? Expert witnesses get paid for their work. He was hired to provide his expertise in his field of work which he gets paid for his time. What does bringing up how much he's charging have to do with anything, aside from maybe attempting to paint him as someone who isn't credible because he's being paid to be there? I don't get what point he was trying to prove. It shouldn't matter how much he's paid because he's under oath & agreed to tell the truth no matter what. His billing has nothing to do with what is true or not true. Plus he's a lawyer, no way would this dude say yeah $975 an hour for x number of hours that probably amounts to chump change compared to how much he makes from companies or people in the entertainment business who hire him as their actual lawyer. He's not stupid & knows the game. He did nothing but charge accordingly because he does this for a living & knows his value & banked on it. Like is it that much of a shocker that someone wants to be paid for a service they provide!

But the whole case rests on whether or not the Press is seen as an arbiter of ethics. If Johnny objects to one article accusing him of bad behaviour, he should object to all. If he's picking and choosing which he finds defamatory, then the case, logically, should fall apart.

I'm not american but I have to say this does not only happen in the US. I actually admire how fast a trial goes there. I mean where I'm at, trial sessions are months or even yrs apart.
