Had the honor of spending some time on a Royal Canadian destroyer in Halifax and also doing ops with them. What a great group of men and women, to work with. We also hosted some of them over on our Frigate.

2 light cruisers, 3 merchant cruisers, few aircraft carriers on the way. They even had 2-3 captured German Uboats to play with. It was neat at the end of WW2 if you consider ship types. Cool stuff to learn about.

Dated a Canadian chick for awhile. She was an officer in the army and they completely blew her off, refused to pay for her medications or help her in any way. The Canadian government treats their troops despicably. And I thought the VA was bad in the US...

Was she living in the US? If she has primary residency in any other country then she probably wasn't eligible for health care benefits since she wouldn't be eligible for healthcare living outside of Canada either. Unless the military has their own separate plan for that, IDK.

OwlKeeper2900 Janvier and the schooling. We dont use our military enough to spend a lot of money on it. No offense but the only reason America spends so much money on their military is because they use it more. We don't really use our stuff because most of the Canadian military fights along side America so we use their equipment not Canada.

All transport especially ships are all to be brought to the latest technology ie either radiator turbines engines or nuclear engines. I would suggest radiator turbine engine with a gaseous fuel as the amount of power they produce would be comparable to a nuclear engine with only 1% of the weight.

Bruh. How is it that they have a single laptop with Skype installed for the entire ship of 250+ members? I hope this is (from 2014) really outdated by now. I mean, you'd figure that a solid satellite-internet connection and a dozen more laptops wouldn't cost more than 5 digits. That would be *pennies*, next to the operating and maintenance cost of a ship that size.

Not as big a joke as the Royal Navy here in the UK, It's so broke they are selling amphibious assault ships to Brazil. There are barley enough ships left to patrol the UK'S interests. The only aircraft carrier we currently have the Queen Elisabeth won't get the F35 aircraft until 2020! Before Brexit it was even considered putting French Aircraft on it until UK could afford some!

haha dont get all butthurt. It looks way more like a "home" than a ship. Any improvement to quality of life is key. I'd do anything to skype my family during deployment. On my last deployment that was almost 10 months long, we werent even allowed to use our own personal bed sheets. When they did berthing inspections, the standard issued sheets had to be on the bed. No Facebook access unless at port, sailor phones were expensive and quality was crap.
