I used to go to the Belle Vue zoo/park in the 1960.s Didn’t,t there use to be a Speedway and Greyhound racing there too.

Manchester does have some good estates and some rundown bad estates. Bit like what other bigger UK cities have. I still would like to go Manchester as I never been there and to ride on the Metrolink trams as well. 😊

How did you expect the announcements to sound? RP? That is based on southern pronunciation and in fact many linguists refer to it as Standard Southern English now as so few people actually speak RP. Hearing our local places pronounced on our local transport in a southern accent would sound very odd to us. Instead we have speakers who have a GNE (General Northern English) pronunciation. This is not a strong local accent or dialect but preserves the northern versions of the bath/trap and foot/strut splits. For people not familiar with that idea in the south ‘bath’ and ‘trap’ have different vowels but in the north they are the same vowels. Same story with ‘foot’ and ‘strut’.

Brilliant video Jen and congrats on completing the hope valley line. Very interesting to see evidence of an uncomplete bypass to the east of inner Manchester. The cats you find are always cute. :)

Rather like the Bredbury station name board styling , GMPTE should adopt it for all rail stations , and in yellow for trams
