Love his videos, but this version of Magnus is long gone. This was him at his peak.. AND an important hold broke off, so it’s not the exact same boulder
@kamron_thurmond
@kamron_thurmond 4 года назад
@@ShakespeareanBroncobuster Didn't know a hold broke off, but with 3-6 months of serious training I think he could gain most of his lost ability.

Kamron Thurmond I agree that he could regain most of his strength if he trained very hard. However, I don’t believe that he could reach that peak, again. Professional, high-level competitive climbing careers rarely extend into ones 30s. He’s still good enough to be a top 100 male climber in the world, but he probably wouldn’t be able to podium at a Cup event.
@kamron_thurmond

@@ShakespeareanBroncobuster Tell that to a little Japanese woman named Akiyo Noguchi, and while Janja Garnbret will win gold🤞. I'd feel comfortable saying Akiyo at 31 years old will be a medalist if the summer Olympics are allowed to happen.

Magnus we're all climbers. We like seeing you climb. You could climb the same route every vlog and I'd probably still watch 🤣. But what you're doing is unique. No other climber at your level is giving an insight to the day to day activities they do. So it's hard to pin point exactly what we want more of. We like it all!

Incredible footage of your V14 send.. just amazing seeing things coming together like that at the last moment! In my opinion, climbing videos of big projects are good, from the logistics part and equipment to the very detailed climbing moves. I think the lifestyle videos are refreshing to your channel since most of it has to consist of climbing.

Awesome bouldering video, Magnus. As for the vlog, here are some suggestions for things to talk about: a) projecting strategy (boulders and routes) b) do you do micro-/meso-/macrocyles - talk about your training plan c)what weaknesses are you working on this training cycle d) you don't seem to have a coach, why do you prefer to train without one

Hey Magnus, the reason I found your channel was through looking for videos to improve climbing but I am subscribed to you not just because you are a great climber but also because you seem like a genuine and interesting guy (at least through the camera) and even though you said early on you found it awkward sometimes, you seem natural in front of the camera. I think that it would be a shame not to use that and so it would be cool to see a little more of your life outside of training specifically, but I do like the climbing focus of the channel too and hope you still keep most of the content climbing focussed for now. One thing that I would like to see would be some tutorials for specific climbing techniques (I'm a beginner so looking to learn as much as I can), I know that you have said to watch and train with better climbers, but for a beginner it is really helpful to have some of the basic techniques and situations to use them explained, I'm sure others would be keen to hear about more advanced techniques too and maybe also some training advice, (e.g. if you struggle with a certain type of route, this type of accessory exercise might help - together with trying more of that type of route).

Love your vlog & its getting better, great job. I like how you're mixing it up in the vlogs lifestyle/training/outdoors. Would like to see you more often meeting up with other climbers like Ondra, Megos, Nalle or others known or unknown.. exploring crags and other gyms.. sharing ideas, talking climbing, hanging out. If you haven't time to travel yourself, maybe try to meet up with climbers who are visiting Norway anyway or invite them.. or you can go somewere near like Sweden or England. Would be cool if more content were directed towards exploring different climbing places with other climbers and at the same time hanging out and getting some lifestyle / talks and questions about climbing in there with other climbers with long experience like yourself. Keep hammering!

yes we like both. My wife teases me "don't you ever get bored of the same old thing" , and the answer is not when you love it. I definitely want to see more climbing on hard projects outside. You said you wanted to try Move... why not spend september in flatanger and share ups and downs in vlogs. I doubt you can do it in just one month, but it would be interesting to watch anyways. And you will have something to motivate you throuh the winter. Recreate the route in the gym and so on. You then got a story we can follow...

This is a cool vlog, thanks Magnus. I love the style of vlogs where you get outdoors bouldering with mates. They're super inspiring to see. The edits are just getting better and better too. The aesthetic of a video makes a big impact - if it's nicely stylised to add some nice music and slick cuts, then it only makes the viewing experience more pleasurable, less clunky. Really enjoying the vlogs, and congratulations on the 10k subs. It's well deserved.

I like the climbing and the lifestyle content equally. It sees like you have found some interesting ways to keep the blog feeling like it has variety. You have a creative mind and a fun sense of humor, which will keep the episodes interesting. I have not yet gotten to the point of feeling like your videos contain a lot of repeated material. If you are looking to add more variety, you could continue to feature other climbers (it is always interesting to see the competitive, yet collaborative dynamic of bringing two elite athletes together). You could continue to mix training with outside climbing. Have you ever set an indoor problem to mimic an outside project? My favorite feature of your vlog is that it feels authentic. Keep that, and you will keep this channel growing.

I understand you. You don't want to stagnate, you want to keep adding. But you can't, not as in new every time anyway. I'll repeat myself, the reason at least I enjoy your vlogs is that they are about real life, and real life isn't new every time. So of course don't bore us to death, but you're creative and your vlogs have personality and i don't see it stopping anytime soon. I don't have suggestions, but a question. You are an amazingly strong climber in an elite class, that's a given. Yet, as you say, your hardest boulder is 'only' 8b+ (if Ondra is correct). My question is this: why do you think you haven't climbed an 8c+ boulder yet? By that I mean, in what area or areas would you have to get better to climb those and tackle 9b/+ in sport? And how do you view people like Ondra or Megos or Nalle and Wood, who have? Can you pinpoint a difference between you and them? Ok I'll shut up now.
