Started riding 35 years ago used Burton hard plate like step in hard boot bindings never once let me down - still have them. Now ride step on and straps dependent on conditions and how I feel in the morning. Rode step on Ions last week after heat moulding for 2 hard consecutive days of full on non stop carving. They seriously were the most comfortable boots I have ever worn! The liner is next level. Good transition from the house bro hopefully you can use your contacts ie Jas from Burton and do some of your great collabs with him. You guys worked well together. Have a good season currently snowing here on our mountain here in NZ - freshies once the storm passes been a phenomenal season here 🤙

So did the regular stepons get any changes? I just ordered photon boots with genesis bindings but have not got them yet... curious if they are different from last year's models

Nothing different in any of the other StepOn products for this year

Do you think ill be able to find replacement boots for the regular step on's in 5 years? Id hate to spend a thousand dollars on boots and bindings and not be able to get replacement boots when they eventually wear out.

I’m sure you will. Burton spent a lot of time designing this system and even year 1 boots and bindings are compatible with current season gear

Might be great if there's a introduction/review about the lowback bindings.✌
@PeterGlennSports
@PeterGlennSports 8 месяцев назад
The low back was a late season, limited edition release binding last season. Good way for Burton to test out kind of a “park” version of the Step On. Definitely a fun version without a highback but it’s only for a very small percentage of riders out there. Probably not some you’ll ever see in the main StepOn lineup.

Oh, kinda disappointing knowing this. But I'm still looking forward to it. Thank you!

Hi there! QUESTION: Do you know if they Make them in XL as well?? First, thanks for the video! I am a step on rider, I have two sets, one for each of my boards. Just picked up a Hometown Hero Split and and reeeaaaaly want to get Step On bindings for my split so I dont need new bindings AND new boots, like you mentinoed in the vid - I have 14w Phton Step Ons and need XL bindings. Please say yes, they do! haha - thanks ;)
@PeterGlennSports

Looks like just up to a size L this year. I'm sure if theres enough demand they will add the XL size in the future.

Can I use Step On splitboard bindings with a regular snowboard (like Union charger/explorer)?
@PeterGlennSports
@PeterGlennSports 8 месяцев назад
You can, you just need to get a set of the Spark Solid Pucks 👍

Advice please, I’ve got step ons with burton photon boots. Where i live in the uk you can’t demo so it was a case of walk around the shop for 30 mins and hope for the best. I went for 9.5uk as they felt great in the shop however I’ve noticed after a couple of hours they feel a little big no matter how much i tighten them up. I’ve tried on a uk 9 and they seemed very small (actually hurt my toes). Should i just get the 9 and hope the same happens after a few hours or is there anything i can do to my boot to make it fit better (add an inner sole or something )? Many thanks
@PeterGlennSports
@PeterGlennSports 5 месяцев назад
You want the boots to be snug but not uncomfortably snug. ESPECIALLY with StepOn! Check out this video about proper boot fit and also its possible that StepOn might not fit you right and standard boots/bindings might be the better option. @@PeterGlennSports I wish I’d watched that before I bought mine. Do you know if all the step on boots fit the same ? I absolutely love the step on system, I’m nearly 48 now and I’d hate to go back to regular bindings
@PeterGlennSports

@@jimsdrivingschool length wise they all fit the same but the fit around the foot is different with the different lacing and shell materials

@@PeterGlennSports ok thanks. Would you recommend anything that’s similar to the step ons if I can’t find the right fit in the boots ?

@@jimsdrivingschool Nidecker is really the only company that makes a StepIn binding that makes sense but I haven't had a chance to try them yet. Best part with those is you can use ANY boot. I still run the good ol classic straps 🤷‍♂

The problem I see is the boots. I've been in a lot of situations where I've had to climb rocks, or even just to walk through very uneven terrain, and the boots suffer a lot. Those plastic pieces... I don't know. Let alone the use of crampons many times.
@PeterGlennSports
@PeterGlennSports 9 месяцев назад
They’ve been developing these for a few years now with Dave Downing and I’m sure have put everything through the wringer. As for crampons the mounting is still the same as the regular Spark splitboard bindings and the crampons attach to the touring bracket below the metal plate of the bindings. They don’t ever come in contact with the boot or any of the poly/glass upper of the binding.

It is not, they are a snowboard boot/binding system.

The step on are a super nieche choice to begin with but cannot for the life of me understand how burton can waste money and resources on making kids and grom step ons, especially in this economy. 3 people will get these globally and the rest will stick to boots and bindings they can cheeply replace as the kids feet grow. Unless burton think their customers are stupid which i dont think they do.
@PeterGlennSports
@PeterGlennSports 9 месяцев назад
Burton definitely does NOT think their customers are stupid, in fact they listen to the customers more than anything. The youth Zipline StepOn boots and Kids StepOn bindings have been out for 5 years now and there has been a demand for a smaller version from the parents (who are definitely the ones spending the money in this situation). When it comes to pricing the boots are only $40 more than the standard Grom boot, and the bindings are only $30 more than the standard Grom bindings. Burton has been developing the Grom version for a few years now and they 100% would not put something like this out on the market if there was not a big enough demand, especially in this economy.

Did you actually watch the video? It highlights how the bindings themselves are adjustable to various boot sizes for the little ones.
