Looking at the new 2024 Mizuno Pro lineup with the 241, 243, and 245. How have they changed from the previous model and which one is my favorite? Looking for a fitting, custom build, or repair? Contact me adam@elitefitgolf.com
A 43 degree PW!?! Crazy… We’ll have to talk about a set of 241’s with a 4/5 in the 243. It looks like Mizuno offers at No Charge, ??, the Dynamic high launch. Might be worth a try in a standard 6 iron. I can adjust from her. Great review!!
Was interested in the 245s as I was looking for more distance. My current irons are Miura CB302s (32 deg 7i). The 245's are long - but they are also lofted at 30 ) - my carry numbers went up by about 10 yards (from 163 to 174.2), but the problem is roll out of about 15 yards - so I may be longer - but I probably wont end up nearer the pin. His second shot here carried 185, total 198 - 13y of roll out. Essentially, I was hitting almost a 6i with a 7 stamped at the bottom - w/ a 70 length shaft. Height is around 8 - 10 feet lower with the 245 vs my gamer. Descent angle is also quite steep. Spin is lower as well (5,600 gamer vs 4,800 245) My swing speed for the 7i is around 82mph. Nice to hit - but Miuras felt much better. Hope these numbers help. I saw this YT review of the 245 and the guy was flushing the 245's with 6,000 spin, 91mph swing speed - but the roll out was still around 15-20 yards (?) which is confusing. He was using a Trackman so that should be accurate.
Unfortunately a few bad shots with the 245 messed up the averages. One only had a balls peed of 111, another launched at just 13*, and a third looked like a push slice. I think that is the reason the numbers look bad for it, the peak height should be 33-34y, ball speed 125mph, spin around 5000, descent angle around 45*, and distances 189y carry and 201y total. IMO you should take a few more swings with each one and only compare like-for-like shots where club speed, path, angle, and strike location are the same between clubs. If you can control for those, the result will be all club differences.
Based on Mizzy's website this morning, they've increased their club lengths by .25". Do you account for this in your builds/fits? I've always been 1/2" long in fits, am I now 1/4" long? Guessing swing weight comes into play as well? Great content as always!
I think the 243 might be one i test first, when i get to my sons sim. He has the whole cart full to test. My old Adams Ideatechs are real hot but real ugly! Lol
Great review! What shafts did you test? I am currently playing the JPX921 Tour with the KBS stiff and am considering the 241, 243 or a combo of both. My 7 iron averages 169 carry, club speed 89 and 6352 spin on Trackman. Would you recommend moving up to x-stiff?
Just did some content with Mr Shortgame and he was hitting the 243 as a stand-in for Titleist T150, that I don't carry. He really liked them. Similar numbers but yes, with that Mizuno feel.
Folk talking about loft have me so confused. Some say these new irons are stronger lofted when others say these are weaker lofter while talking about the same irons 😤 So im trying to custom blend a set of irons and want to make the lofts weaker.. ie i want to make a 27 degree 7 iron into a 29. Is that -2 on the options or +2?
The white paint fill in the number is the worst idea I've ever seen. I own the 223's am looking at the 243 or 245 in order to bring my spin down, however first thing I'd do is re-fill the number with black.
7i 190? I hit my 23 hybrid 200. Whatever….Why would I want a PW to go 150? When Donald was #1 IN THE WORLD he hit his 47* PW…..drum roll please - 120yds. Yes, I heard he’s playing 243’s. Now an exact loft match to Srixon? Good grief. I’m not a golfer; I play one on TV.
