@@KoolMada sorry if you're offended lol, meant it as a joke. Also I already got two 800 dollar RCs when i was 14, , don't assume others are broke like you bro😂
I have one of these, upgrades to fully aluminum shocks, and my rear arms are the aluminum. i definitely recommend these upgrades. mine also steers how yours steers. ITs a lot of fun and it loves loose terrain. It is a drifting king. with my 2s battery im doing nearly 37 mph. its just really fast, and it feels so much faster than 37.
I've always been iffy about aluminum A arms. I know they are strong but I always seem to either bend them or break them at the same rate as plastic ones. Do you run into that too, or I'm I buying crappy aluminum arms?
45mph..Beautiful Truck Losi. Licensed Raptor and King Shock paint scheme, that's the best looking Trophy Truck on the market, PERIOD! I love my Rock Rey, after a number of upgrades, it is a Rock Solid performer. Upgrades that really helped were; adding heavy, heavy diff fluid to the front diff and less thick to the center diff, aluminum steering system, Spektrum 1210sg wp servo with Vanquish aluminum servo arm, Vanquish Method beadlock wheels and Hyrax tires with Pro-line firm outer/soft cell inner foams and Pro-line 2 spring shocks. In addition, but less critical to performance I chopped the body into panels for easier access and shaved down the spacers/body mounts. Now its a thinner/more debris resistant animal. I installed triple red brake lights on each side of the rear, installed adjustable Lunsford Links up front for camber and caster adjustments. I also painted the interior and the roll cage and added a nitrous bottle to the interior. Noone will ever read this fucking novel. Dave you idiot.
Do you mind sharing diff oil wt you used? on all 3 diffs.. did you use same gaskets? i just bought one. and rear diff sun gear stripped after 2 charges on 3s battery! i am so bummed out, i am waiting for parts. ive had the truck for 4 days. any info you can share will be appreciated!! i am a noob to this!! had the radio shack cars many moons agooooo, not the same
At some point you'll have to tear it apart and reassemble it, due to repairs and upgrades. Like a real car. I wonder if RTR reduces claims of missing parts? ....or people trying to get free spare parts.
@@LiquidSSSnake possibly. RTRs mostly sell due to convienience and ease of use. As a 10 yo definitely wouldnt have been able to assemble a kit properly.
If it weren't for the big boom in the RTR market alot of us would never have gotten into the RC world but I do think they should bring back more kits for the old school builders. I was never mechanically inclined enough to do it personally but it sucks that yall don't get to build them like yall used to. Thanks to working on my RTRs I think I could probably build one now if I had to but I'd definitely have a hard time with it lol just being honest. I think RTRs target a bigger crowd but its kinda messed up for companies to abandon the builders who were such a huge part of their early success
Wow. Definitely put way heavier diff oil in the center and slightly heavier in the front. Heavier shock oil in the rear and stiffer springs all around. Would recommend Losi using harder tire inserts as well. Like Brett said, tighten up the servo saver just a bit. Just a few tips from a racer! (Not that you should buy this if you plan to race. Proper setup is still important outside of racing too).
Do you mind sharing diff oil wt you recommend? on all 3 diffs.. is it ok to use same gaskets? i cant find them anywhere, besides complete kit i just bought one. and rear diff sun gear stripped after 2 charges on 3s battery! i am so bummed out, i am waiting for parts. ive had the truck for 4 days. any info you can share will be appreciated!!!!!
I didn’t end up switching my pinion gear to the optional 10 tooth, so I plugged in my spektrum 3s lipo and blew up my tire, not even gonna lie, with the installed pinion on 3s it’ll hit 65 before you blow up a tire
@@AMain_Hobbies A bit late in finding this video, but i made one of me doing this on my rock rey a while ago.. hope it helps some customers! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-6rdsaihEOuw.html
I have one aswell, I purchased it about 6-8 months ago. i like it over all. However the only problem I've had with it is that I lost the reverse function. I Took it into my local hobby shop to have it looked at and repaired if nessacary. It was in the shop for about 3 days. And when I went to pick it up the guy which has been working with rc's for well over 10 years, had told me he had to tear the whole thing apart and it took about 3 hours to fix. And this was a receiver and or transmitter problem. I definitely think that's an issue. To this day, I still barely have reverse. It works very seldom and when it does it only works is like 5 second bursts. I'm so nervous to mess with the settings myself cause It may take off on me. That has happened aswell but not so much.
I have one and it's great fun to drive until.... it rains a little bit and until it's running in a small water pond. Then the car is fucked up. 600$ that's bad. My son was driving the same rainy day (I repeat, small rain, not strong rain) an HPI Maverick Strada SC, few years older, and it's still running. My Losi is on the shelf and I have to buy some new electronics. Is it not supposed to be waterproof? Maybe Losi's water is dryer than rain...
I liked your suspension tests on the table, you didn’t have to fast forward that. My favorite rc is the summit solely because of the exaggerated suspension travel when driving it. Keep up the great work. Also, I would have liked to see the motor compartment opened up. Thank you.
Thanks Sheldon. The table drops were shown at real speed; no speed up or slow down there. You're right on that motor area, we should have opened that up. Thanks for the comment. -Brett
AMain Hobbies , it has issues with poor quality bearings and inadiquate size. Specifically the small rear pinion bearing. The diff screws are tiny (1.5mm) and snap off causing diff failure. A screw upgrade to all 3 diffs is a must along with drilling out the holes bigger in the ring gear. It needs a SSD front bulkhead to reduce flex and prevent flex that also causes ring and pinion failure. The plastic servo horn and servo saver won't survive and also need upgrades to aluminum. All this is a lot of work, but worth it and needed! Also keep in mind, you can take off the cage and bodywork in 1 piece (removing 12 screws) making axcess to the inside much easier.
Did Losi discontinue the kit version? I have the 1/10 rock Rey kit version. Great truck and I know this raptor version will be great too 😀 I am really happy this one came with an open rear diff. I picked that up and put it in my RR 👍
Hmm, are you sure their was a kit version of the Baja Rey? I'm looking around for it but can't find it. The Rock Rey is great too though! And the looks of that vehicle are so good. Nicely done. -Brett
@@AMain_Hobbies not sure on the Baja Rey. However I have the kit version of the Rock Rey. Bought it from Amain 😀 Out of stock now though www.amainhobbies.com/losi-rock-rey-1-10-4wd-electric-rock-racer-kit-los03016/p707441
Yes, that's right! I remember the kit Rock Rey. What an aggressive looking rig. So great. I imagine Losi probably isn't planning a kit version of the Baja Rey. The RTR and BND are the options. -Brett
are there any Competition Kits like this truck? it has a very nice size and looks awesome, I wonder if there are any Race competitions for truck-like these.
Is it a TOP SECRET the battery tray dimensions? I cannot hear anyone mentioning about this, and not listed on website. Do I need to buy it to find out?
Battery Tray Dimensions: 5.45 x 1.81 x 0.98" (138.5 x 46 x 25mm) You can find all specifications on the product page here: www.amainhobbies.com/losi-baja-rey-ford-raptor-1-10-rtr-4wd-brushless-desert-truck-black-rhino-los03020v2t2/p-qqqcqauqnczrqctz -Brett
For more realism? There are no upgrades for this, you can make or fabricate something yourself of course. The truck is equipped with front and rear sway bars. -Brett
ProTek R/C and Gens Ace are the main names that come to mind, but there are many good battery companies. For this truck, you'll just want a battery that will fit nicely, and has an EC3 connector. Losi recommends this battery: www.amainhobbies.com/dynamite-reaction-2s-30c-hard-case-lipo-battery-w-ec3-connector-7.4v-5000mah-dyn9005ec/p387643?r=0& -Brett
@@jerseysautos1ky how have you found it over time? I got one and not sure about it on 2s it's cogging a bit low speed and not sure if I should run it on 3s without changing the pinion and the tyres think they need to be changed pizza Cutting has already cut the paint 😬 any help would be greatly appreciated 👍
How does it compare with the LOSI Tenacity DB Pro? Electric components/specs seem to be more powerful on Rey but overall the Tenacity seems to be more durable, what do you think?
I think the electronics are the same on both. The DB Pro is 3S LiPo compatible too and can hit 50MPH speeds. The DB Pro though has independent suspension throughout, where the Baja Rey uses a rear trailing arm setup. The trailing arms are better for absorbing bumps when driving in a straight line, like a real desert truck, but the independent suspension is better for corning and such. They're just two different styles, to go with their respective looks and applications. -Brett
Both vehicles are rated for 50MPH so I don't think either one is faster than the other. Both motors are the same, although the kV rating is different, which may help compensate for the difference in weight, internal gear ratio or some other factor. But for speed, they are both the same. -Brett
@@AMain_Hobbies thank you for your opinion, that was what I've noticed, the difference in Kv. When we get better days I'll probably go for the Tenacity, it looks more sturdy out of the box! Keep going, nice videos and explanation! Stay safe
Is it possible to install 100mm shocks in the front so it is longer than stock? If so, do you have to put a new front end to make it longer or is it not needed. I have the truck but I am not sure. Thanks and Merry Christmas!
Hmm, not sure, we haven't tried it. You might have to try it and find out. Maybe keep all the packaging of the shocks incase you need to return them. -Brett
The UDR is much more expensive and requires two batteries; this Raptor doesn't. It really depends on the limits of your budget. We have one of each. -Brett
Nice Isaac! Congrats on your new truck! For the runtime, we received maybe 10 minutes on our 4000mAh 3S Venom battery; it didn't seem to last too long, although we were doing heavy driving. Hope this helps Isaac. I look forward to you receiving your truck tomorrow! Let us know how you like it. Thanks. -Brett
No for the shock fluid. The rear body panel probably did wear through the paint, it tends to happen. To remedy this, we use old decals and cut them out to size, and place them over the rub spot. Now the tire will rub into the decal, not the paint. Good luck! -Brett
I would think you could race this is the 4WD Short Course Class without any fuss from the track. But you'll have to talk with them about it first. -Brett
Awesome video review my friend this is one beautiful 🤩truck definitely on my list of RC to get this year thanks for sharing happy bashing bud👍👍🤙😎🤪😜😝🙈🙉🙊👊✌
bought one, rear diff sun gears stripped after only 2 charges on 3s batteries. anybody got any idea why this happened? im kind of bummed out about it! i am new to this hobby sorry for the noob question. I appreciate any advice, i been googling and dont find anything!!
The differentials are very weak, theres an exotek diff cup you can get that may help. I just put lockers in the front, rear, and center so no more diffs on mine, lol.

Can anyone help me out I recently installed a different servo on my Baja Rey and now the speed of the truck has gone down it doesn’t take off like it used to and I’m running 6000mah 2cell zee batteries
Hmm, that shouldn't be possible. Replacing the servo shouldn't effect the ESC, motor or power delivery. Maybe a setting on the ESC or transmitter was bumped? What servo did you install? -Brett

@@AMain_Hobbies Thanks Brett! I thought it was weird it wasn't a ec5 connector. You're always really helpful answering comments. You're going places Brett! If it were up to me I'd promote you COO of Amain!
The Baja Rey trucks have a bit of torque steer, where they want to pull to one side when accelerating, but there could be some other issues going on. Take a look at the servo saver and see if it has come loose. After hours of driving and use, they can loose up and the tires will steer more on their own. -Brett
It could probably be done with some modifications, similar to how they get a Slash 4X4 to drive on water, but I haven't actually seen it done with this platform. -Brett
