If you've ever wanted to learn electronics and arduino, you don't have to go it alone. Just get yourself a big box of components. But what good is a box of components if you don't know that they are or how to use them? Maybe a starter kit with a book would help. And fortunately there are cheap options.
Get the Freenove Arduino starter kit: amzn.to/2ODbImC
Get the Elgoo Arduiono starter kit: amzn.to/2LRC4zm
Another starter kit that I haven't tested, but is about the same price as the freenove which sold out: amzn.to/2SZ8XLg
Upgrade it with a project case like this one: amzn.to/2yq9Cfa
And whatever kit you get, get the best book here: www.freenove.com/tutorial.html
Be sure to like, subscribe, share and enjoy.

I bought a couple of Elgoo car kits for my grandsons and had parts missing. I got in touch with the company and they sent out the parts and a couple extra uno s for my inconvenience. I just had to prove I had purchased the kits. Great company to deal with.. Thanks for the video.

Whole heartedly agree that the typing in of code is such a massive boost to your ability to learn! I learned basic, pascal and c++ by doing that back in the day.

Freenove was my first kit! I wholeheartedly second this recommendation. Beyond the tutorials, there's plenty of parts to design your own projects afterwards. I made a Persistence of Vision display and a robot arm with mine! (I did have to buy extra servos for the robot arm.)

Whoa, "3d printer professor"... My ears pricked up when I heard that! I taught a middle school 3d printing club in China, but I had to just teach myself as I went. I'd love to learn more. And Arduino, which is why I'm on the verge of ordering that freenove kit.

To add to the list, the REXQualis complete starter kit with tutorial is a very good kit to start with as well. The PDF' lessons are broken down per lesson so it wouldn't be as easy to make a book but the lessons give you the option of typing them in yourself or using the provided sketches.

Paul McWhorter has a good new arduino tutorial. He uses the elegoo kit that currently costs $35.00 on Amazon. He has released 19 of the 63 videos so far.

Finally! Another HUMAN being who typed in code from Family Computing magazine and others to the C64 for hours on end, saving to a cassette tape drive. Kinda miss those days actually :)

Arduino stuff can be addicting, I have a uno and a mega 2550 , with lots of sensors. Luckily we have a micro center in town and they carry a lot of stuff. Can pick arduino stuff and 3d filament at the same time.

When I got around to buying an Arduino based robot kit I quickly discovered it was composed primarily of the "good stuff" from that i had collected over the years plus motors and a servo. Oh-And Processing for the Win!

Yes, I single highhandedly have wiped out their entire stock. Fortunately, I'm always looking for good alternatives for about the same price and updating the description with links.

Wow your mention of the Commodore 64 made me flash back to Vic 20 days and c64 days spending hours copying code out a book to make a game or other silly thing work.

Used to get the commodore magazine which always had a couple of programs to download. Funny how much you could do with 64k of memory and 360 k of disk space. My desktop system has 9tb of storage and that seems small.

@@robbyprust The hex programs with a small bootloader at the beginning was technically more impressive, but less useful to learn from and, I felt, had less of a life span. But they were at the time more fun as games. It's a bit of push and pull there. I've got books full of the cross-platform compatable BASIC without the hex code, and I love 'em.

Nice reviews. Be very careful! Arduino projects are really addictive and very satisfying. I've made stuff that flys, cleans pools, sharpens knives, cracks combination locks, optimizes a trebuchet.

These two kits are very close to the RS 100 in one kit I had back in the day. They were quite well done for the day and yes they had 200 and others you could buy. Mind you I'm not rich by any means but I would spend a couple more to have 4 or 5 times what these kits have to offer. I would be really interested in a squeal to this episode with a high dollar amount along with the value that might or might not be added. Yes as you have said it is nice to have code online but best to have it in the project materiel; guided and no loss from having to find it yourself. With that said; having to find the solution is also a bonus for working outside the box and making something work in a custom mode. Just some thoughts. I would pay more for a xxx-x in one box today.

I understand your concern over the colour but on the real small components you could not write the number as you would not be able read them due to the size of the font but you can always see a colour no matter what size it is and hence that is why they use colours.
