I feel it’s almost backwards for Lusi to play this after her amazing character in The Long Ballad. I hope she gets to play more complicated and grounded character in the future. Also I just want to say you look beautiful in that costume jie!

zhao lu si has been very busy filming so many dramas currently and people were speculating that she might reject acting in the romance of tiger & rose season 2. While there were rumours of the writers already asked ding yuxi and zhao lusi if they're available for season 2, if season 2 will be as good as season 1, I hope she accepts it.

You misunderstood the drama. She didn't go to the college to win the bet. It was her dream to fulfill her promise to her brother. She was surprised to see the main lead there when she attended class, she had no idea he was the Deputy Chief in the college. Since she was there, she continued to bug him to win the bet, bit it wasn't her main goal.

It’s literally stated that it’s a comedy drama y’all don’t expecting it to be so much stressful plot . As someone who’s been mentally exhausted from other tragic drama i really need this one lol 😂 this drama is lighthearted n hilarious .

Guess Zhao Lu Si is being put into a random scripts collection that has no value add to her career development, but only to make her looks more like just a another actress.. nothing special and worth watching. So sad.... After Tiger and Rose and the long ballad, almost all her other drama are mostly junks!

I feel like there is so many cliché dramas these days. All the good dramas with more story takes so much time to come out.

For me, I'm all about escapism. After working all day in a job that takes keeping multiple plates spinning in the air and putting out fires (sometimes at the same time), at the end of the day, I've looked forward to escaping into this drama. It's not too serious, not too deep, and feeds my romance addiction (loving the chemistry between the leads). Also, the comic relief is spot on. When the FL goes into a Crane Kick to keep her relationship a secret with ML, I forgot I got chewed out by a coworker a few hours earlier. 😊 The LOL moments are such a great stress reliever.

As someone who grew up watching Xianxia/Wuxia/historical dramas, I make it a point to check out every period drama that comes out. But these days I just skip the idol dramas, they're never able to keep the audience hooked (except few). Yeah, there are so many great period dramas out there and more still coming, no need to waste time on idol dramas

Wow, you are so critical and you misunderstood the story. The girl entered the school because it was her late brother's wish, and it became her personal ambition as well. She makes a bet to protect a worker, and she is shocked when she finds out the guy the bet is about will be her teacher. The red thread that goes through the whole series is the mystery of what happened to her brother, and in the foreground the romance between the girl and the deputy chef, romantic rivalry and the task of graduating from the school. It's meant to be a light-hearted show. I loved several of the characters, they were so adorable and hilarious. It's entertainment and a sweet and fun story, and that's ok :)

She wants to get into college because of her late brother wish. I already watched it until ep 14 and stayed for the laugh and of course, because I want to know whether Zhuo is a good guy or not. In my opinion, the drama is pretty funny and good for a stress reliever.

I think many Zhao Lusi's works display a wrong side of feminism. Chen Tian Tian and this one, I feel like they want to deliver a positive message (encourage equality between men and women) but the female character still depends a lot on the male characters.

Not the biggest fan of ZLS and I really tried to overlook a lot of things because I do like her role in tiger and rose + the long ballad, even please feel at ease mr.ling was quite enjoyable for me but this drama is really the breaking point, I don't know if I'll keep on checking her future works out in the future because this drama is definitely a step back from the long ballad and overall I don't see her improving. I think she's staying in her comfort zone in terms of the characters that she plays and that's doing more bad than good for her. (another example of an actor with the same problem: xing zhao lin. Tbh how many more contract marriage trope/ceo roles is he gonna play? the lack of variety is upsetting tbh when u really want to like an actor/actress so badly but then they're giving you the same thing over and over again)

To me I don't find it boring its more of a comedy not the intense plot you guys expect

Although I like Lusi very much and I am watching this drama, I skip too often that my key might disfunction soon. I was hoping for something big but for such a small bet she easily got in the collage with no really hard effort. If it was that easy, other girls of higher officials could also get there.

"I guarantee you after a couple of episodes you'll totally get what I mean. Nobody really does anything for anything". The point in the drama where I reached this sense : when she piggybacked (he was too tall so was walking) him to a small cliff crack. The one thought I had was "why? why am I watching this?" I totally get what you're saying. I watched to the point above purely because (a) eye candy and (b) silly (fun silly, not stupid silly) romance. But at this scene I just had this overwhelming sense of nausea and could not continue.

The story is simple but I do enjoy watching it because I like the actors and actress in the drama.

I totally agree with you. Looking at the title, i was expecting something inspiring of how the female lead struggles among all the males and prove herself. I mean as the first female on history the be able to enter a college, you should work really hard to use the opportunity prove to everyone the you deserve it and that female is not worse than male in study so you can open the gate for the other females to enter the college. But all we get is a shallow idol type of drama and till now I'm at ep 14 but still don't know what they are studying. I really disappointed with the story

Zhao Lusi's career path reminds me of Yang Mi in her earlier years. The difference is Yang was openly in an Bet-on Agreement back then, so she had to take one terrible role after another, destroying the good wills of the public toward her in the process, just to pull through. Ever since Yang Mi's success, a lot of stars tried to imitate her with very few successes. People will always dream of being the chosen ones, disregarding the reality that this industry could only feed a set amount of big players. But once people's good wills are gone, it'll take years or even decades of good work to earn them back.

I honestly don’t know why she’s sooo popular in the C-Drama world 🤔. Her acting is too similar in every dramas that she was in. Anyway, to each his own I guess 🤷🏻‍♀️

I normally love the dramas you rant about, but this time, I’m with you. Storyline was so boring. I don’t know if it’s the editing and cutting, or what, but it’s so slow pace. I normally love lusi, but her character here seems like the same character she has played previously in love and immortality and tiger and rose. Still waiting for her to try different roles.

personally maybe i suck and my taste suck but I admit it’s a bit boring but i like how it’s easy-going and not that serious since i literally can’t watch the great dramas which makes my heart bump so fast and i literally can feel the pain so i watch these dramas and it’s not bad for me…

No actually she went to the college because of her dead brother’s wish that he wants her to study in a good college and for the male character main purpose is to find out who killed her brother and he doesn’t want her to know he was her brothers best friend and he won’t be able to discipline her properly that’s what I understand by the few episodes I watched though…

I think people forget not every drama is made to be Oscar-worthy or something. The drama definitely doesn't take itself seriously. Why complain about the plot? I think the performance of the leads are engaging so far and ZLS cuteness makes it all better!

I find this drama hilarious, a lot of haters on this drama. But i love this more than tiger, the acting are just non scripted and lusi pull this off. From ep 1-10 i keep laughing. This is just a happy drama. Its just early to tell for where the story going. Btw, She didnt have a bet with other girl to get to college, she's there bec of her dead bro who inspired her to go to school.

I was a bit taken a back because this was such a short video, but as you got into it, I understood it. I like ZLS a lot, and I think, she def needs to have a step back and evaluate potential projects more thoroughly. Shame, that most of her projects have been with Tencent.

The Romance of Tiger & Rose, and Love Better than Immortality are two of my favourite dramas. I tend to love low budget productions better. For me the most important aspects of a drama are storytelling and chemistry 😍

I have almost the opposite impression of this drama ahaha. I enjoy their chemistry and the jokes. I laughed out loud at a lot of scenes, they're very hilarious imo. 😭 I can see the thing with the story but I just go with it ahaha

Honestly I do hope that the government could do something about the insane number of dramas and movies produced every year... It's because the big investors and those popular platforms saw the lucrative profits made from the entertainment industry, nobody cares about the quality anymore! Even popular actors/idols who got a taste of the enormous sum of money earned every time they starred in a drama just goes on taking roles after roles that isn't suitable to them or just shitty idol dramas made for hardcore fans... I'm really disappointed in the three theatre universities (Zhong Xi etc.) as well, their way of recruiting new intakes and fostering new talents these 5 to 10 years has really made past efforts to cultivate good acting skills and professionalism gone down the drain... PLEASE someone do something about this!!! It's exhausting to see more and more people in this industry becoming so fake and literally just want to earn a share from this giant meat!!!!

I tried to get into this drama, I really did, but I just couldn't finish more than one episode. I will skip this one and wait for Zhao Lusi's next project.

Even though in my opinion her character on TLB was useless I do think it's her best character because she showed a different side and her potential as an actress i really have high hopes on LLTG

This is all comedy plot. I really keep up with this and had a good laugh till my stomach burst🤣 But no she didn’t do the bet to come to college but she comes to investigate the reason behind her bro’s death. And it is okay if you don’t like drama like this cuz I also feel this drama getting nowhere too but I mainly here for the comedic moments lol

This drama is quiet hilarious. Though some scenes were ridiculous for me. But currently I'm enjoying it. NO hate. If you don't like it, move on to another drama coz there's a lot to watch nowadays. 😅

Finished 6 eps and it's entertaining for a romcom. But now having to wait for the next episodes I might forget it's existence and not pick it up like how usually do when i take a break from dramas that are not engaging lol

I totally disagree with your opinion. I really enjoy this drama very much. Sang Qi went to the Imperial College bc it was her late brother's last wish not bc of a bet. The bet was just another layer of challenging fun. I love the playfulness between the ML and FL. I think it was love at first sight for the ML when he first saw Sang Qi. Trying to solve her brother's death/murder made the ML and FL even closer. The struggle for them started when the second male lead got into power.

Totally agree on the viewpoint that the events in this drama happen just to make things happen I've watched until episode 6. I felt that the storyline is not really exciting and the character are more like props. Just tools to make it a story instead of feeling like they are part of that story Did not expect a video on this drama but still very glad to have it👍

I watch this drama to support Zhao Lusi. She's a talented actress but I don't like some of her series like Please feel at ease. She's still young and has two high budget dramas coming out. I don't see her career being tainted for this. This drama is for Lusi fans only. I don't love it but I always enjoy watching her. I'm looking forward to her next two. Lusi is one of those actresses where she has chemistry with all her costars

What ever I enjoyed this drama, yes there are some cringe scene I skip a bit. But artist didn't do bad in acting, blame the script writer or director for the story.This drama is kinda popular overseas and even in our country right now.I don't care about small details since I don't know about Chinese culture etc.I think you miss the point why she go to Imperial College, it's because of her brothers wish,and the bet is about to give her pouch to Deputy Chief.

This plot do have a lot of problem but I don't think it's that horrible from my point of view. The FL brother went to the same school as the ML and he was the benefits and he wanted her sister to also be able to attend the school which happened after he passed away. The ML promise the brother to help the FL so he was helping her secretly as he promised her brother only to find out he fell in love with her the role might not be that clear but they each have their own agenda. Ml to protect the FL, management of the school,find out the truth behind the death of his friend. fall in love with FL FL study at the school her brother once studied, get stronger in her Martial art, falls in love with the male lead, take care of her father as she is the only child left. Then we have the supporting character that will either help the ml, help the FL, builled the FL, fall in love with the FL and other stuff like that but I think this story has a chance with the way they are going about with the poison and concubine stealing salt and all that will see

This drama is so lovely and the both leads have a really good chemistry. If you want to watch a fluffy and funny romance with a hot villain, go for it.

I made it to episode 7 before I couldn’t take any more. I wanted to stop before that, but the script kept hinting that actually interesting plot points were coming up. So, I’d click to the next episode. But nothing interesting ever developed. I was honestly hopeful that this drama would be good. The FL actually knows how to do stuff and can hold her own in s fight. She wants to study and all that gender-equality jazz. But then it just turned out to be another lazy, shallow romcom where her main focus after getting into the college is to get a guy to accept her fake token of affection - a guy is constantly catching her, saving her, scolding her, and basically treating her like a child. It feels like this was a sad, half-hearted imitation of what Rookie Historian (k-drama) did. It’s sad because I would have really liked to see this premise done well.

This is another garbage drama that was made I watch 2 episodes and it's not worth watching the script is really bad and I pity the fm lead since she got so popular that she doesn't choose any drama that is good enough for her. She needs a new manager to guide her to choose a drama with good script. It seems that she's more interested in making money so she accepts any drama that is offered to her. Yes, she got tons of dramas but it seem none of them is helping her to build her as a good actress.

I didn't even finish the first episode. I was expecting so much from it because the title was interesting :u However, the friend of the female lead was handsome. That was the best part 🥲

I am actually glad that i did not watch this review before actually watching the drama because because you are providing incomplete and erroneous information. It is so bad that i suspect you never truly watched the drama. She went to the college, not because of a bet, but because of her dead brother. The bet was because of a completely different issue. She did not like the girl she made the bet with. The male lead was the the dead brother's best friend and he is currently still investigating leads to the brother's poisoning. The female lead has a similar poisoning incident after they met. Don't get me wrong, I was shocked they did not emphasize the female scholar thing more...but it is still a good watch as far as romance comedies go... The irony is that dead brother links together everything in the plot, but you never mentioned him once. He is in so many of the flashbacks in the early episodes and is a critical element of the plot. It is kind of hard to miss.... Long story short if you completely ignore the existence of the dead brother... then what exactly were you watching? ... Let's not even talk about how the second lead is a fallen prince making use of a shady organisation while being the female lead's best friend...

I thought she entered the college because of her brother that died? It was his wish for her to go and she wanted to complete his legacy. Granted i only eatched the first 3 episode. And the second male lead’s motivation is simply to protect the female lead. I do however appreciate zhao lusi’s comedic acting. It seems different than other female actresses.

You missunderstood the reason why she went to the college, she had this goal due to a promise she made to his late brother. There is a bet with a girl because she wanted to prevent a waitress to get bullied, also according to her character she always accepts a challenge which in this case is to give her pouch to this guy who ends up to be the main teacher in the male college and the best friend of his brother.

It’s such a great drama! I think it was mostly made to follow up the Romance of Tiger and Rose. Lusi is great at comedic roles (all roles really). I think it gets better as you keep watching

Wow, you manage to watch till ep 10? Me? Only 2 eps is enough! It's so boring! When I saw the trailer and bts, I was interested. The chemistry between them seems amazing, they're having fun times at the scenes. So, I was waiting for this series. But! After watching ep 1, I was disappointed. The story itself is not interesting, no chemistry at all between the main leads, or between the leads and the supporting leads. I thought, okay, maybe it's just ep 1, the story just begin with introduction. So, I watched ep 2. It's so dumb! I mean, she should be clever, right? Otherwise she wont be able to pass the entry test. Though she got tips from his childhood friend, she still has to depend on her brain. So, how come it didn't even cross her mind that the sticks to determine who will be the victim are all mark with it! Even I got suspicious at her 1st pick. 2nd pick, still no? Okay. 3rd pick, still not at all? So stupid! I drop it right away. It was such a pity. Guess it will be just like other series who only focus on romance, not the story. Romance of Tiger and Rose has interesting story, the chemistry between the leads, supportings are all very good. This actually can be an interesting story as the title, 1st Female Student at the Imperial College, it should has many conflicts. Well, just as she said, don't waste your time on this series.

I am personally enjoying this drama and the fact that they aren't making me feel like I need to emotionally invest or think deeply about anybody (I'm up to ep 10). Yes it's illogical but it's comically so. I think whoever did the sound editing must have put so many hours into it, as there were so many sound effects that kept the light hearted slapstick moments happening from scene to scene. Which I think makes me think it's just light comedy and easy to understand without having to put lots of brainpower to it. I think it's watchable to a new viewer, it's just boring if you have already watched hundreds of dramas of the same thing. I wish they didn't feel the need to force a romance between the ML and FL, as they squabble like chaotic siblings and I would be fine with an anti-romance vibe instead of them going down predictable romance tropes. I laughed loudly at the scene where they set up the ML to embrace the FL after knocking the shelves, but instead of emphasing that overused trope, the camera showed all the shelves falling over one after another instead. And then they had FL almost do that again, and the look of horror from them both! But fyi I've not seen Tiger and Rose and other dramas that ZLS have been in (I get bored by lengthy romance focused idol dramas so I normally don't have patience to watch those unless the drama has other things going for it) so I suppose it's quite fresh for me.

Yes, this is exactly my impression towards this drama after watching it after 10 episodes🥲... I can't manage to see the chemistry between the FL and ML, and it is so boring. I love tiger and rose and I can't wait for season 2, but this drama...I agree with your rating towards this drama HONESTLY I can't wait for ZLS drama with Yang Yang. Please don't screwed it up.

Honestly I watched 3 full episodes before I gave up. The colours, costuming and set design all looked so good, not to mention the female lead has a backbone which is why I think I'm so disappointed! I didn't know who any of the actors were before and I'm sure that the production/writing doesn't do them any justice.

An excellent mixture of romance , intrigue and adventure with a satisfying ending. Finally a drama where the female student doesn't have to dress up like a man to study. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

These days, the only slow motion, rolling rolling and staring contest that i can tolerate is when Chang Ge and Asun fell from the rooftop. That scene is so well made in my opinion.

Thank you for sharing, I totally agree as I was starting to wonder myself what is the point of this drama as it wasn’t making much sense to me after the ten episodes.To me, Ms. Zhao appears to be playing the same character as in Tiger and Rose, [as well as in other dramas], it’s like that’s it, nothing otherwise? She’s pretty and has a beautiful smile, but that can only go so far.

I was laughing my a__ off watching the drama so it was entertaining and the comedic talent of the actors was not a waste then. One thing I did not like is the angles they take for Xu Kai Cheng, maybe its the make up, I don't know, he does not look handsome in most scenes which is a bit unfair to him

Thank you for making this video I didn’t know I needed it. I was so disappointed in the script part of this drama. Why was it necessary for the FL to suddenly go up the mountain and sort of learn gongfu??? Such a frustrating script. 😖 I like Zhao Lusi and Xu Kaicheng’s acting normally so I was looking forward to this drama pairing because it had such potential to be enjoyable.
