What do you think the range will be on this bike? Want an ebike - I'm picking someone randomly LIVE from the comments that follows the instructions in the video.

I've had my challenge pro for a couple of weeks now. I've also been watching your video for your experience. Then I compare the result.Your 27 mile range per charge is very similar to my first experiment. I used peddle assist one way, and motor only the other way. I only got about 20 miles per charge. But my second experiment was to use peddle assist only. This time peddle assist number was used most of the time. So I used 50% of battery power for the entire trip. My third experiment was a short trip of about 5 miles with peddle assist 1 only. To my surprise, the voltage indicator never dropped a notched. I could see it charging. But it never showed that I used much of the power. If I calculate and educated guess, I can get more than 50 mile range with peddle assist 1 easily.

First e-bike reviewer to actually go the distance to prove a point....vs manufacturer claims.😅😓😂 It's why I enjoy your review, they're honest and detailed. I guess 26.8miles on the full battery. Keep up the good work 👌👍

You are wondering what the zero setting was earlier in your pedal-assist. If you switch it to zero while coasting down a hill it regenerates. Talk to the to the man directly who designed it at rattan who is now heading up yammy

I'm a big boy at 325lb and got 14.5 on fairly flat midwest roads with an equal amount of slightly upward and downward gradients on throttle only. I got this for my wife and it's easy for her to handle. I ride the Himiway Step Thru these days after I crashed my Rad Rover 5 on pretty wet day (user error!)

48 Miles is my guess. Very excited about the next generation of Ebikes. Hopefully once batteries catch up with the rest of technology we will have lighter packs with greater range. My current ride is a 1997 Giant Iguana 21spd. Definitely stoked for the chance at winning one of these. As someone with limited joint mobility I'm sure it would be nice to be able to switch pedal assist levels on the fly.

29 miles. Thanks for taking the time to review and answer the range question. I have a Rattan Fat Bear plus and the range I have found out after riding 300 miles is grossly exaggerated. The bike does no better then my two Rad Power bikes. Maybe 30 miles on a good day peddle assist. Just throttle alone, maybe 18-20.

You should put an ebike on a treadmill and measure how long it takes to regain charge through regenerative power. My early guess is 7 days, 13 hours for a 10ah battery, but would be a good experiment. Thanks bro.

Do you have a video about metal vs nylon gears? I'm new to ebikes and the first ebike I'm planning to get has nylon gears. What are some pros and cons between the two and is nylon gear worth getting or is that one component I should completely stay away from? I'm getting mixed reviews and feedback on it. Wondering what your thoughts are about it.

I bought the 2020 version of the Rattan Challenger for my daughter for Christmas, so far we have done a 32 and a 46 mile ride, she was using PAS 3, and never ran out of battery on either ride, with the 32 mile ride she had 3 bars left, with the 46 she had 2 bars left. I suspect she could have gone 50-55 without issue. Both of these rides were on flat river bed bike paths. not much in the way of hills, but she did coast down all the declines that go under the vehicle crossover bridges. In comparison I own a Cyrusher XF800 750w with a 17ah battery, and using PAS 3 which limits the max output to 350watts my battery was completely dead at 36 miles, thankfully I had a spare battery to get the last 10 miles.

This video was like just like my bike rides. I always wind up going somewhere I hadn't planned. The Rattan's a great upgrade bike. I didn't think you would get 40 miles out of it. I'd like to see it with 1500 -2500 watts I'm undecided on how much wattage I want to add to my E-bike. We have lots of and hills in my neighborhood. Mini mountains.

The new version has a 48V 10.4Amp battery with a different display. 799 with a Summer discount code. So, the range should be about the same with a faster top speed than with the old 36V 13A battery?

Hi my name is Gene I currently own a red 5 expand and my wife owns a rad Mini rad Mini both purchased bikes about maybe 3 weeks ago. I thought the Mini was a better looking bike. So I changed out a bunch of Items on my rad 5 expand to meet my standards. I changed the brakes from the cable brakes to hydraulic. I changed the front forks to Suspension forks. But I would like to get a different style stem because there's a lot of pressure on my hands when riding the bike for an hour or more. So your idea of removing the stem and getting the flexible one I think I will move forward and purchase that through your site or wherever you might recommend I purchase one. Overall overall I like your site very much I find that you're very very informative which could help individuals like myself and others that does not know much more about retrofitting. Keep up the good work

I see this video is a little old but was wondering what display is that? I would love to have one where I could dial in the pas power settings. Will the display work with other motors and controllers? My pas1 speed is 11 mph and have to have it in 7th gear to keep up with pedal speed. That makes pas levels 2-5 and gears 1-5 worthless in pas mode unless on big hills.

I saw an explanation of the eahora regen system which indicates assistance level needs to be sit at zero to get regeneration. I think the throttle is supposed to work at level zero then coasting above something like 10 or 14 mph regeneration occurs.

I have gotten almost up to 90 miles on my Rad Power Bikes the Rad Rover. I use pedal assist 1 or 2 and gears 5 to 7, but, the life of the charge can vary due to, is it a cold day or a hot day, is it windy or calm, is the humidity and or dew point high or low. I have a route I do that is 22 miles and my battery power has varied greatly on that very 22 miles. I have done that 22 miles with 1 bar after the ride and on another time I used 3 or 4 bars. Do you think anything...other than wind...can make a big difference?

But wait, isn't the range completely dependent on how much you pedal? If you only turn it on for hill climbing. And if you can pick a route that goes down hill most of the time, the range is extended.

If you do the math, the 36V and 10AH would yield 360 watt hours. If the motor uses 350w under full throttle, that's basically an hour of run time. If the throttle gets you 20mph, an hour would give you 20 miles. That's a super rough estimate, but I don't see any way they'd squeeze 50 miles out of that bike using throttle unless it was all down hill.

Everyone should know or be aware of the fact that when the automotive industry give out their EPA fuel ratings for their cars, it's under perfect climate conditions, sunshine, no wind, flat terrain, all the stars are in their proper conjunction/alignment etc. Same holds true for e-bikes. And they'll use the skinniest rider ta boot.
@helenHTID
@helenHTID 2 года назад
Not even that. These average figures are concluded from lab testing, So no rider no elements no inclines no surface variants.. Just peddles or throttle churned over on a belt in a factory. The same thing is done with motor vehicles for their speeds and fuel ratings. I highly doubt they could pick the perfect conditions and have riders/drivers test these things out for those figures each production.. It would waste valuable time and resources.
