I will demonstrate brush techniques with all of the brushes using watercolor paint and explain which brushes are better for other mediums and what characteristics you would want in a brush for each medium. The brushes I ma using a synthetic taklon but you can apply these techniques to brushes in any fiber you like.

The thing I love about your videos is that you truly know your stuff, and you demystify the supplies and the processes which makes me feel less intimidated to try anything! I've been an artist and taught specific mediums on and off for twenty five years and it isn't often you find an artist who isn't so full of themselves that they scare off their audience. Keep up the good work!

I totally agree, but I would love to see you do these kinds of videos for all different topics. Hi Lindsay, thanks for your tutorial on brushes it is so useful. I love the travel case, it's so compact and easy to transport. I paint in my lunch break at work and sometime struggle with transportation ! this would solve that issue. Thanks again Lou xx

I really appreciate this tutorial! I am very new to painting, and have been stuck a bit and not sure why. I've learned about loading the brushes a lot in this video and using the correct brush for the subject I'm painting. You also have peaked my interest in watercolors-I had never been interested in them before but honestly, it was because I didn't know how to paint with them. Thank you for your tutorials! :)

Another excellent video. I learn so much from you I just received the phoenix 48 watercolor paints and a watercolor journal. Now I need more brushes so this video was extremely helpful. The way Fabart has designed these travel brushes is simply genius.

I agree, what I like best is that there is no way to damage the bristles on a brush if you put them in the elastic loops. They can't slip and get bent by bumping against the case. Also they don't vave the caps that can splay the bristels like other travel sets have. And you get 12 brushes in one small case and the easy of a full size brush to paint with. It has been hard not to show you these before, so glad I can now!

This is a good technique (the first showed with the round brush) I use when I want a flat coloured surface with Ecoline ^^

I really like this set. I know as far as the little tool on my tunisian crochet hooks they are interchangeable and if you don't use that little tool to tighten real well it will come loose. I can't see how it would with a paint brush but maybe the more you use them they will. If you have had them for a year then I guess not. Thank you for your explanation on all the brushes. I have never used a cat tongue but still trying to get my feet wet with watercolors. TFS! You are such a great teacher.

TRy a cat's tongue if you get a chance, it is such a useful brush in watercolor, you can easily do a while painting with it yet not lack for versatility. I have several in different sizes.

This is such a useful video! I actually bought a cats tongue Princeton Neptune brush some time ago, it's my first cats tongue brush and I thought it would have a point but when it gets wet it turns into a filbert which is still great but disappointing and until I saw this video I thought maybe all cats tongue were like that! Next time I think I'll buy one in a shop where I can try it first, that looks like a super great brush to have!

In acrylics you can use the fan for everything including pine trees, waterfalls, grasses. I hardly ever use mine for blending.

Love the video tips! This looks like a really nice brush set! I don't paint with oils.. Did a little when I was younger but my favorite is acrylics! I am getting a bit more into the watercolors now! I use to hate them but like them now! Did you say that you can use the same brushes for the acrylics & watercolors? I thought I had to keep separate brushes for them! If I can use the same brushes that makes it so much easier for buying brushes now!

It won't hurt your acrylic brushes to use them for watercolors but acrylic brushes eventually need to be replaced unless you are extremely good about caring for them while watercolor brushes kept for watercolor can last a lifetime

I am good about cleaning them and I don't leave them in water except when I am using them! I take very good care of all of my art supplies and clean everything as soon as I have finished using it! I can't afford to replace items so I have to be picky about cleaning my things! Thank you for letting me know :)

re Cat's Tongue /Pointed Filbert brush - although not normally great for acrylics as you mentioned Lindsay, I thought acrylic painters might find it useful to know that since this video was made, there is a new Cat's Tongue brush on the market, with stronger bristles for acrylic paints. It's designed by The Art Sherpa Cinnamon Cooney & made by Silver Brush Co. Hope that helps somebody :)
