I think or am starting to think that there may be no way of being a green consumer - you might have to be a participator. My main training is to be a consumer, so I feel some qualms about participating in anything. It seems like it might end the consumer life I like to lead.
No it's not, and this is coming from a vegetarian. Believe it or not, there are actually farmers who practice sustainable animal raising. Cozi Farms in North Carolina is a fantastic example.
Coops that sell beer and wine should also embrace the health and fiscal issues that are associated. For example, alcoholaware.org run by physicians has an active campaign internationally campaign to change the warning labels as the are currently inaccurate and written by a corporate entity. "May cause health problems" is a phrase that kills thousands, destroys families. In an age of hash tags this is a cultural blind spot. The recent change in dairy products is abominable. SOUR CREAM THAT is milk & air INFUSED?!! The worst product you’ve ever distributed. You owe me $80.00 in poor grade ‘Gold’ Sour Cream that is 1/2 of what it used to be.
I too am proud of the Nation-wide co-op grocery system...I first begin my work with them in the70's...North Country Foods... I believe they called us 'Socialists' Greentop Grocery in Bloomington, Illinois... Soon to become a reality
Organic labelled food is usually less healthy and uses more harmful pesticides (often synthetic). Using the term organic as a given positive is as dumb as saying processed foods are bad for you (processing a food can be as simple as just cooking it or cutting it). All agriculture has an environmental impact, industrial farming is the most efficient way of conveying those foods to markets and therefore has a diminished impact on the health of the environment. Moving to an only local farm system would have manifold benefits to you if you were psychopathic: bring poor people to an end, ending obesity (but not in the good way), damaging the environment, and ruining the economy. Also plastic recycling is mostly a scam 38% of a penny vs 24% of 100 dollars. The 24% percent is worth far more to the community. This kind of feel good corporate speak in your video is quackery.
