Hi, i am hasna from Morocco. I would like to say something about Germany. First and foremost, i find that Germany is an incredible land with amazing natural resources, and the thing i like about it most is the natural landscape. For the Germans, i find them very smart and clever people. They might not be exactly like other peoples but they have a lot to say. For me The Germans are thoughtful citizens who, through history, have been thinking and growing in philosophy as well as many areas . I love how the Germans care about their people and country. I've learned that children's rights in Germany are taken care of by the government and by their fellow citizens as well. In contrast, in my country, human rights and especially children's rights are something which is , very often, not taken into consideration. An additional point that i like about the Germans is their honesty and politeness. I, actually, love honest people. I've had many life experiences where people said things like " hi, how are you? " but they didn't , truly, mean that they cared, and then every conversation was just superficial. Rather, i love how the Germans do things with their own conviction, not because they have to. I like the German dance. I've been learning many german dance moves. I've been learning the Bayern's schuhplattler , in which i fell in love. I don't want to end this comment without mentioning the German traditional music. Honestly, i'm into this kind of traditional music and the yodeling also. I love the German traditional music and i like each instrument used to produce it. Finally, i admire the Germans' punctuality. When i, first, learnt about it i was kind of surprised! But it's something that value a lot, in comparison to Morocco people here are kind of always late. Hhh i think it's kind of hard on us to be as punctual as you actually are. In conclusion, Germany and the Germans are very interesting. And actually there are unencumbered things that i like about this nation. Actually, It is such an inspiration to me .

Hey guys! This episode had so much good content. I wanted to mention that the story about Cari parking, while really funny, was also really useful. Hearing someone speak in the past and tell a story like that helps for multiple reasons. The story was about something pretty common (parking), contained practical vocab, and also gave us some phrases for speaking in the past with Prateritum. Being able to tell stories is something that really makes us more capable to participate in conversations with native speakers beyond a basic level. Maybe you could do some videos with stories like that! Or make an episode asking some questions that would lead to a cool story in the past as an answer. Especially over everyday stuff. Just a thought! Thank you :)

Difference to Austria with the traffic lights: In most cities and crossings, with exception of the ones with much traffic even at night, the lights change to blinking yellow at night. So everyone has to be careful and checking out, when he/she wants to cross the street. So it's not necessary to wait in the night, unless there are cars coming.

Whenever i come back to UK from Germany i'm always amazed more people are'nt knocked down crossing the road on a red light! Never have i found a warm beer anywhere in Germany(thank god!) I also love that Germans are more direct & honest than many of their British counterparts...

i went to munchen this year to visit a friend and i have to admit people were way friendlier, warmer and more polite than i could imagine. i really liked it! the only thing that bothered me was that everytime i tried to speak german they would answer in english, showing that i am an anfanger and shouldn't speak or sth. even one time i just said "vielen dank and the kellner answered "you're welcome". i mean common :P otherwise great ppl and outgoing i would say, and i am greek

This is really fun to me-if I read the German subtitles and listen to them speaking, I can actually understand most of this. It is extremely interesting to listen to the colloquialisms and idiom of German...you absolutely cannot learn that from a book! Thank you so much for the fun videos!!

I was in Germany in December and I got so many stares, I thought it was adorable. As an American it's rude to stare but we make eye contact when talking to each other.

To me the lady is very joly, merry, happy and that is not what I expect from a German person, the gentleman is more like what I expected. But I like you both! :)

Yesss, the staring thing! Das stimmt so hard. The first time I went to Germany I would get really weirded because everyone was staring so blatantly at me on the bus. 😂😂 To be fair, it wasn't a very international city (like Berlin, for example) so maybe people just weren't used to seeing an Asian face on the bus :P But in New Zealand, where I'm from, people would at least try to not make it so obvious that they were staring. At first it made me super self-conscious but after a while I started staring back just to see what would happen 😂😂 Turns out, most people do look away if you stare back at them long enough! ;)

"Who really wants to examine their stool?" I would think a carpenter. Carpenters examine stools quite frequently.

The traffic lights thing is very true. In the UK, it is pretty much up to your discretion when to cross. So, when I came to Germany I thought it would be the same and went to cross an empty street when it was a red man, only to find my German girlfriend pulling me back by the arm and telling me I "need to wait. You always need to wait. It's the rules." I only really obey those rules when she's around though.

I live in The Czech Republic and it's fascinating to see how so similar the Czech way of doing things is to the German. Almost everything they're saying in this segment is true for Czechs. Not surprising, given that a) they were under the Austrians for centuries, and b) Germany is 1 of our neighbours and still heavily influences a lot of business and economic things concerning Czech life. Whilst card use is more common now, here especially in the bigger cities, the other aspects -- being asked if haven't you the correct change or, getting annoyed looks for paying for something with a big bill -- are the same. Must be a Central European/Eastern European cultural phenomena -- although technically, Germany's more considered part of Western Europe, I know.

Sehr cooles Video, ihr beiden!Ich muss sagen, ich habe echt gestaunt, wie viel deutsches Kulturgut ich doch in mir trage, obwohl ich von mir selbst immer sage, ich bin eher türkisch. Vor allem an der Stelle mit dem Joggen-in-den-Kalender-schreiben musste ich echt lachen, mega lustig! :D Und ich habe bei mir selbst tatsächlich auch gemerkt, dass ich selbst bei Freizeitaktivitäten nicht so "frei" bin, sondern mir manchmal sogar denke "Soo, jetzt sitzt du hier (im Café oder so) schon 2 Stunden, so langsam könntest du auch wieder gehen"- Kennt das jemand? Richtig krank! :DIch hab' noch etwas typisch Deutsches: die Rechtschreibung! Es können bei weitem nicht alle sehr gut schreiben, aber es wird sehr viel mehr Wert darauf gelegt, wodurch es auch mehr Leute können. Im türkischen Kontext z.B. ist das gar nicht so. Ach, und was ich bei mir außer der fehlenden Spontanität gemerkt habe, ist, dass ich auch sehr direkt bin. Hier kommt es: Manuel, du bist mir sehr sympathisch! :DPS: Sorry für den Roman.

I so appreciate your subtitles. In fact, I wish I could have access to your subtitles in transcript form. It would be so useful to go back and study your sentences, without having to constantly pause the video to read them, because I am so slow.

Das mit dem Starren finde ich echt interessant. Eins der Dinge die ich auf RU-vid gelernt und schon echt oft gehört habe. Die meisten Amerikaner finden es schon seltsam wenn man im Gespräch Augenkontakt hält. Das finde ich echt komisch. Denn das Gegenteil finden wir Deutschen ja echt unhöflich. Und gucken in der Bahn ist nur ein Zeichen von Interesse, weil wir können ja kein Smalltalk. Aber neugierig auf andere Menschen und Kulturen sind wir ja trotzdem. Einfach lächeln, wenn einer guckt. Vielleicht lächelt er/sie zurück. 😁

Das Lüften ist weil die Häuser alle aus Stein und Beton sind. In einem Holzhaus, wie die meisten in Amerika, braucht man das nicht. Aber als ich in Landshut (Niederbayern) wohnte, stand auch bei mir im Mietvertrag, daß man jeden Tag die Wohnung gut lüften musste, und sogar 30cm Abstand zwischen der Wand und den Schränken halten musste (im ersten Jahr -- nach einem Jahr musste der Abstand nicht so weit sein).

Im from Colombia but live in England and travel to Berlin often and I must admit Germans have become my favourite people, they are radically honest, I find this incredibly refreshing! I always ask what is german sense of humour? until now I hven't had an answer...

Very nicely done. However I have my personal space intruded upon consistently in Germany. (What you called "comfort zone" which means something else: )) I find myself backing up and the German keeps stepping closer, until I am backed against a wall and now they're so close they're breathing on me. So it's not just the absolute lack of personal space, it's the inability to read body language when someone is trying to create the space. I left Aldi crying once because I gave the person in line ahead of me "American space" and a little old man cut in front of me, telling me I was standing in line incorrectly. Always, always keep a shopping cart *behind* you in the line, or else you'll have someone actually bumping into you with no apology. Although staring is not considered rude here in Germany, I wish so much that Germans would realize not everyong around them is a German person. That it is considered extremely rude in other lands, not just a lack of manners, but considered *aggressive*.
