Belief It Or Not, are you ever going to discuss how white supremacy has continued to influence most if not all sects of Christianity? You can’t fully expose Christianity for what it is unless you really delve into Christianity’s continuing relationship with white supremacy. Just because you’re white and it makes you uncomfortable to discuss racism, that doesn’t mean you get a pass on openly and honestly discussing that clear issue. It undermines your credibility and weakens your past points if you consciously continue to decide not to discuss topics like this that need attention.

Nah, they're both the same. God put facets of itself in humans, his chosen lifeform, then got mad when we didn't do only things , and punished us. It took him millennia to learn we did "bad" things like Envy, Pride, Lust, etc because it was in God's capacity to do the same. So, to prove a point, it came down to earth to prove that idea wrong, found out that human life was difficult and that he felt compassion for us despite our flaws, and fell in love with us, to the point of forgiving us for killing him for doing his own thing. After this, he took all the discarded parts of his soul that he sent to a hell for being "wrong", accepted them back, and was content to watch what we do without interfering, no more floods or fires, plague or perjury, death or obedience... he just watched, understanding that as facets of itself, we would figure things out, and would ask for help if and when we needed it, keeping contact via demons attached to our souls, to quietly whisper suggestions instead of demanding sacrifice and subservience. Much better system, tbh.

Growing up raised by a Jehovah's Witness, I was told by my mother, by elders in the Kingdom Hall, by other members that ANYTHING labeled "demonistic" by the Watchtower Society would literally call demons into your house to kill your pets and torture your family. I grew up absolutely steeped in fear, being told that something as innocuous as owning a Little Mermaid poster would cause my toys to come alive and torment me before killing my parents (among other things.) Ouija boards, roleplaying games, Tarot cards... You name it, demons could be "called in" by it. And it took YEARS to get over the sheer terror of even seeing a Ouija board. The backlash to this upbringing is evident in that I'm a pagan who collects packs of Tarot cards and has a standing date with my best friend of 18 years to watch horror movies every Sunday. (I do, however, have generalized anxiety disorder and it especially fixates on the possibility of supernatural dangers because anxiety is irrational and boy did I learn to fear demons at a young age!)

We were trying to figure out what horror movie to watch with our friend group later, and she said she didn’t want to watch a movie with demons in it because the demons could get her through the movie. Apparently she had a bad experience with the second doctor strange movie and the multiverse stuff made her feel a demonic movie presence in the theater (she was 100% serious). I just accepted her “no demon movies” thing and moved on because I think the idea of demons coming from a marvel movie is ridiculous but I didn’t want to laugh in my friend’s face. She’s also not allowed to wear pants, needs a chaperone on dates (she can only date boys), and isn’t allowed to go to school events (dances, movie nights, etc). Convicted child predators are (at least in the US) mandated to stay inside their house during Halloween. (and are usually under police surveillance) While it's an understandable concern, child rapists are a lot more likely to snatch up your kid on a random Tuesday than they are to do anything on Halloween And regardless, it is so much more likely that their rapist is someone they know and someone they're close to rather than a random person who sees them on the street (so think like a parent, an aunt or uncle, their babysitter, their teacher, their coach, their pastor/priest, a sibling, etc.) So it's not really a valid concern either way, and not allowing them Halloween simply because you're worried about that is anxious parenting and is going to leave psychological scars on them. But a completely understandable concern for the child predator part, although it is still harmful to be acted on (just supervise them. So I didn't joke, it's actually a horny jail for angels. Hades on the other sides refers to something that is also called sheol in the old testament and refers to the place where the dead wait for judgement, both the wicked and the righteous and was probably a subterranean places. Some argue it means literally just the place where their physical remains rest while their soul sleeps (soulsleep or mortalism is a debated concept in Christianity since the very beginning and it reappeared in the works of Luther for example). For the thing we see as "hell" there is really just the lake of fire or "gehenna" which was probably the term Jesus himself would have used. But that's not some subterranean domain of Satan, Satan doesn't have anything like that. Being a kid and going off of what was literally said to me frequently, I was so frozen in fear of accidentally inviting a demon inside of me that it pretty much occupied my thoughts 24/7. It had trouble focusing in my day to day, I had tremendous difficulty sleeping, and it got to the point of having a bunch of little rituals I'd do to distract myself from the anxiety. In retrospect, obviously I had pretty bad OCD, but since everything was religious and related to demons, I was sent to see a pastor instead of a therapist. So yeah, all this stuff legitimately hurts people, and I feel so sorry for all the kids that *still* have to deal with it even in the year 2022. So much pain could be avoided if people would stop looking to the supernatural and thinking superstitiously. (Also, yes, I'm perfectly fine now. My OCD *did* go away as I got older, partly because my thinking matured and partly because I became and atheist. But I still really needed to see a therapist at the time, and parents using religion instead of psychiatry for their children makes my blood boil)

When I was little (and undiagnosed) i would sometimes see scary monster/demon-like figures in my bedroom at night. I'm bipolar and I hallucinate. I also had chronic night terrors until I was about 14. I'm actually really lucky (in this regard), my parents have always though exorcisms are nonsense, so when I would hallucinate I would just go get my mom and she would tuck me in and sing to me and sometimes say a quiet little prayer asking god to help me have a good night sleep

What really broke my whole fear of demons was the realization that a lot of the stories I had heard about people being pinned down in their sleep, unable to move or breathe, was actually just sleep paralysis. (Hence the "sleep paralysis demon" memes.) Prior to then, I'd had this fear of demons coming into our house at night for some years, particularly the front door, after having caught a segment of John Hagee on TC where he recounted demonic experiences. (And you could probably find it if you looked honestly.) One of them being some woman who thought her husband had come home from work. But instead it had been some demon walking through her front door (like literally opening it), up the stairs, and attacked her or something. Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if it was a home intruder and the trauma of the event just screwed with her memory. Or one hell of a hallucination.
@neoqwerty

I had a sleep paralysis experience that was free of demons, it was really cool once I managed to will my little pinkie to twitch and confirmed, okay, this is not sudden full-body paralysis, I'm just awake while the "don't flail like an idiot" dream safety is on. If I hadn't researched how sleepwalking works and WHY most people don't do that (it's the aforementioned movement lock safety feature humans have to keep their dream movements dream-only), I would probably have freaked out a lot more. As it was it was really cool and I've tried to trick myself into waking up "halfway" again when I happen to lucid-hijack my dreams, no success so far. I just want to feel just how deep sleep-breathing is and how _limp_ my body is in its sleep state again. Also the weird feeling of physically *feeling* my movement commands just die before they get to their destination, as if I'm getting my actions cancelled by some sort of nerve receptionist mid-way through and if I "turn up the strength" of the command I can push it through the dampener and get a minute twitch in response. (If anyone wonders how I dealt with it after figuring out oh it's just sleep paralysis and getting bored of it: I just decided to go back to sleep for a lil' nap, I mean I was already comfy enough and not going anywhere...)

On a more serious note, as an animator, I am SO tired of the perception that cartoons are always for children. It's exhausting and makes creating animated content unnecessarily restrictive. Also - maybe the portrayal of fighting demons in media is about people confronting their problems head-on and overcoming them? Or making PEACE with them? Little Demon speaks to me personally quite a lot as an adult woman who has never known my father. What if there are themes behind these portrayals that use Christian and demonic imagery because that's a language and visual pattern that most of us in Western culture understand? IDK...

I'm (maybe) a Satanist, TST version, and the idea of the importance of symbols, specifically Satan, is intrinsic to the ideals. Satanists generally don't worship Satan, rather the _concept_ of the eternal rebel who holds up autonomy, freedom of thought, and expression through art. In Western society there is no escaping the symbolism and cultural tropes of Christianity. So why not use them and subvert them for our own purposes?

It's gotten a fair few sensationalized headlines from Christians too, especially for its "terrifying" LGBT representation (which the Disney CEOs aren't a fan of either). Anyway there's a lot of great stuff in that show, but why it felt relevant to this video is that the setting and designs draw very heavily from the works of Hieronymus Bosch and other depictions of demons and Hell, and even though they're not allowed to use real-world religious imagery there is a *LOT* of commentary about the church and the trauma people have suffered at the hands of Christian leaders. My thing is what's considered "demonic" is completely inconsistent. My family loves Harry Potter, Twilight, Tim Burton, and SEVERAL Disney movies that deal with the occult (Coco and Pirates of the Carribean being the big ones), and that INCLUDES Hocus Pocus. In addition, my family okayed "It" to be my stepsister's first R-rated movie she was allowed to watch on her own. AND YET. My dad got mad at me for wanting to draw tarot cards. And told me I wasn't allowed to show my stepsister anything with demonic imagry. Is it that those movies promote demons as a good thing? NO, because most movies with demons include bits about Christianity being the one true religion, about Christianity being the only way to get rid of demons, and Christians being the only decent people. There is literally no good reason Twilight or Harry Potter should get a free pass against something like The Conjuring or The Exorcists (which are BOTH way more overtly pro-Christian), and yet here we are.

It's that your family doesn't like anything with explicit demonic imagery and Satanic practices/rituals, but they also see a fine line between the mere "occult" (which is just harmless entertainment) and the truly "demonic" (which is actually dangerous), hence why some works like Twilight or Coco are considered acceptable. They can't handle any horror movies, and especially any horror that specifically mentions demons; accidentally seeing them while flipping through channels is enough to give them nightmares. It's not as bad as other things catholicism leaves you with, but this is a fear that will live with them forever.

wanted to start off w congrats on being 3 weeks sober! CW mental illness being mistreated and religious abuse. SH and ED mention. my depression developed psychotic tendencies when i was about 14-15 when i was deep in the church. instead of my dad getting me help he just convinced me i was possessed and blamed me. i went to the church for my self harm and eating disorder and they said it was bc i didn’t love god enough and didn’t allow him to help me. about a year or two later i was in the middle of a season of a church play my church is decently well known for which is based on the columbine shooting (it’s legit worse than it sounds and i’m going to see it soon w my friend who was in the church w me who also left a little bit after me and now we are so queer and happy it’s beautiful) and i realized nothing could save me outside of myself. so i admitted myself into a mental hospital. the church immediately cut contact with me. since then i’ve been in therapy, medicated, and truly loving my life. a couple years later i was at my dads and wearing a tank top which showed scars and he began praying over me and it was the most awkward thing in the world. he tells me i’m going to hell bc i’m happy and being the person i’m truly meant to be, not the person forced on me ok sorry this is long lol. but this video meant a lot and i thought i would share 🔆

I was raised Mormon. I couldn't count the number of times I was told that trying to contact spirits would result in demons approaching me. I was told all of the time that ouija boards would actually open the door to demonic forces. Little did I know that the "evil" presence was just the goosebumps I got because I'd had a good scare. It's good for a laugh nowadays.

I would do it just to get millions of demons inside me. And then come to pastors and ask if they can sense demonic possessions. There is no Jesus in my heart so definitely I would be easy to enter.

That's a nother thing. Explaining psychological things as evil or supernatural is a nother thing I hate. It makes you ignorant. Just liking demon art isn't gonna summon a demon. If it were that easy my house would be filled by them now. It actually takes specific rituals to do anything substantial

"Jesus did not ignore the Devil" Ma'am, ma'am that's literally what Jesus did in that story where Satan tried to tempt him. He ignored Satan's offers and explained outloud why he was ignoring those offers. Ma'am, I didn't even read the whole bible, just parts that had characters I was interested in, and even I can tell he was basically just being polite explaining why he was ignoring Satan's offers. If demons are real apparently being polite and explaining why they're barking up the wrong tree is the way to go.

Little Demon is a legit great show. Danny DeVito and his daughter Lucy are absolutely crushing it! I even got my very Christian best friend to enjoy watching it.

@@xenonsan3110 I do too, it’s definitely a cool concept and seems pretty well written too. It’s also fun that they at least did some research on the esoteric/occult references even if they’re not exact or mushing multiple traditions together. Satan as an armadillo reminded me of Alf in the way they animated it 😆

The story of the Nephilim is interesting, in that it's only through unions of a woman and demon... Like, what's a dude gotta do to have hot hot adult fun time with demon, and help to create a really cool child. Imagine the athletic prowess they could have. Super human demon sports, let's go!

Well there is one way, sleep with a succubus. Granted you’ll get a Cambion, not a Nephilim. And you also need to get another human woman involved because apparently how a Cambion is born is that a succubus takes a man’s baby juice, transfer it to an incubus which is a male succubus, which he then uses it to impregnate a woman. Real crazy stuff

I grew up in a fundamental household where this was the worst holiday of all mon would sayall the demons come out lol now that I am 40+ and have my own kids. We celebrate this holiday dance watch movies and have a ton of fun. My mom still thinks there’s demons running around outside, working behind trees and around every corner. Honestly, it’s really sad. I try not to talk to her or have any communication with her whatsoever. It’s sad that this religious nonsense has ruined my mother daughter relationship.
