You and I have talked about this before; just a reminder here ; when almond eyes are talked about here it’s not simply almond shape that people are preferring it’s the “long eyes” regardless of shape (more long than tall) . Long eyes are what people are attempting to replicate with these foxy eye procedures / surgeries although a positive canthal tilt is often also cited as a reason it is in actuality not the primary reason . Unfortunately true long eyes are not possible to recreate through surgery as they are a function of orbital bone structure (which cannot be changed unless we are talking about major craniofacial surgery; something no surgeon would do for aesthetics ) Glad to see you mention interpupillary distance but it’s very important to relate it to horizontal eye length; everyone you show with the ideal distance also has LONG eyes . Ideal pupillary distance means very little with horizontally short eyes . Anyway we need to do another video together soon 💕
But Like some South korean actresses they get cheekbone reduction from the side to make it appear that their eyes take a big part of the face. It is all about the illusion.
I always used to feel my eyes were just average (brown eyes, dark brown-skinned black male). It was when I became a server/bartender, I started to receive compliments about my eyes by different customers and a couple of my coworkers. Those compliments always hit me the hardest because people had NEVER told me I had "pretty eyes" before. People would usually compliment the obvious like my curly hair, or my dimples when I smile.
this series oddly enough makes me want to take better care of myself via healthy eating and gym time even though it doesnt directly change bone structure
I have deep set almond eyes with no UEE. I thought having these were weird and I looked to intimidating especially as I have positive canthal tilt and thick set eye brows, but now they’re one of my best features.
@JFLG 764 stop frauding by trying to make your eyes hooded man , I have full straight hooding from bone (around Brian shimansky), when you take a picture from this angle, TRUST ME. you should barely see your eyes. Yours, in turn, have perfect straight hooding which means you have UEE on the eye level :/.
I have the weirdest eye combo: round, protruding and down turned...I have always felt so bad about my eyes. I am planning on having extra support by adding cheekbones or orbital rim implants...Although I have been told that my eyes are very expressive... I don't like them... excellent video editing so aesthetically pleasing 🤩
My sister has these qualities and she is considered outstandingly beautiful by literally anyone who meets her. To me she's my sister, but if thats you in your profile picture, it suits you just fine
Great point about the packaged deal. Have always noticed this too. Must be nice. It’s striking when you see almond eyes, with a positive tilt, downward medial cathis, under eye support/aegyo sal and usually thick brows with a prominent brow ridge.
This video made me realise something: that I have attractive eyes and mid-face. I've been told that I "speak with my eyes" and that my emotions are visibly shown just by looking at them. I've always looked at my eyes as the boring dull eyes (I have hazel green eyes but they're very dull in colour that they look brown) but when people have complimented my eyes I didn't realise that were actually talking about the shape. When we were wearing face masks last year I noticed I got far more attention than I ever have than when I didn't and that's because it showed off my most attractive feature.
I remember people pulling their eyes back to mock my eyes and now they do their eyeliner to look like mine Edit: google is free, do your research and stop gaslighting asians
@@Shewas-kathybates so what if they were 5?? Talk about making excuses for their rude actions and you directly divert against their cruel actions, ITS STIL WRONG and just so you know, older dults have done this too. Doesn't take away the sting of being mocked and feeling hated for just because you're born with what your born with. ITS STILL WRONG. Yes kids can be cruel but you are sad to make such a pathetic excuse. It's like for example people would make fun of you for being ugly, fat or your skin colour? Still wrong. Get it? Good. Cheers. You have a good day
I disagree with Africans having the lowest Canthal tilt I’ve seen black people with more almond or hooded eyes than Europeans. The only group of blacks I’ve seen with a negative canthal tilt commonly are east horn Africans and this is likely due to Arab admixture. Middle easterners North Africans and Indians have the least canthal tilt especially Semitic groups. Sleepy droopy eyes or bug eyes are very common in these groups. It’s why Jews while mixed with Europeans still have these Semitic features that set them apart. Meanwhile epicanthic folds and almond eyes are common in African groups in west , south east and south africa. Look at the San people who look Asiatic or black American Celebs who are of west African descent, most of them have almond or hooded eyes.
Yea Qoves seems to contradict themselves with that statement. The study by Rhee et al., 2012, of which the data is shown in the video at 7:40, states, "The lateral canthal tilt (LCT) for an average Korean face was 9.77, for an attractive Korean face it was 8.87, and for an attractive Asian face it was 8.64. The LCT for an average Caucasian face was 4.12 and for an attractive Caucasian face it was 7.13. For an average African face the LCT was 5.39 and in an attractive African face it was 9.98". So from this study, data show that Caucasians have the lowest canthal tilt in both the attractive and average faces, Africans being in the middle, and Asians the highest. Based on where they zoomed in on the graph, it looks like they were focusing on the "AVK" (average Korean face), "ATK" (attractive Korean face), and "ATA" (attractive Asian face) groups which could explain the contradiction between the verbal explination and data presented by the study they're referencing.
I have round deep eyes (you just described my face 😅😅)... and yes.. a strong semitic background, but I would'nt change it because I have a very narrow face with high cheeckbones... It softens my face... otherwise if I had almond eyes my face would be too hawkish 😅😅😅
Also I notice Africans tend to have very very horizontally long eyes when when they are round or almond shaped. Eurobond don’t seem to have long eyes and for East Asians it varies. Europeans tend to have door bones around the eye and very masculine Deep set eyes with brow ridge which might be why their eyes aren’t long horizontally like Africans. Like my friend is african and has almond eyes but her eyes are long horizontally longer than I ever seen and it looks like she is a cgi character like on IMVU
Are you serious? Arabs and north africans have the most almond eye shapes you'll ever see. And I know what I'm talking about cause I myself am north african and have big very almond shaped eyes
This is so funny to me bc since I could think I wanted big almond slanted eyes like everyone else in my family. I have round eyes, the fact that it’s a literal trend now along with many other things I’ve been doing for years, such as blush, is so crazy to me.
Everything QOVES does is amazingly informative. I love how we can scientifically break down different esthetics as well as hyped up surgeries. I’m so thankful a channel like this exists. Removing the mystery behind the beauty standards by cultures, bone structures etc is still so fascinating. I honestly didn’t like my eye shape, nor color but even after this video I’m feeling way better about my “Hunter” esthetic.
My eyes have always been my favorite feature, they're green almond shaped with big ass long lashes upper AND lower. I have always received a lot of compliments on my eyes
My eyes have always been the only feature I have never hated about myself. I've got the same shade of brown as my grandpa's eyes and double eyelids that run in my family; desirable in the part of the world my family's from. I know this sorta sounds bad, but it's the one thing about me that no one has ever said anything negative about so I've never learnt to hate anything out it, and I'm glad for that.
*I'm still amazed when people compliment my brown eyes because, I know how obsessed people are with the color blue. The only con is that my crease is tiny & I don't wear eyeliner because, it can't fit.*
Very informative! I’ve got deep-set eyes which I used to dislike but now I like them a lot! And I’m glad I was born with them. One nice thing is that I never get to use makeup to do a cut crease like some other girls 😊
I've also got deep-set, almond eyes with a positive tilt and I've always wondered why I look "alien" whenever I wear eyeliner and do eyeshadow looks like the beauty RU-vidrs; it's because I already have the features that they are trying to replicate with makeup.
Yes,but those people are putting a crease to imitate Your lovely eyes. You don't need that angular dash of makeup, because your eyes naturally possess that beauty. Accept them, love them 💕
As a guy who has hooded, deep set, almond shaped eyes, I never knew they were considered "desirable". I always thought they were common. So hearing that people are paying tons of money to get my boring eye shape is kinda weird.
Very interesting video! My (woman) eyes are very much deep set and I have thick, low set, dark brows, and a neutral eye tilt. Definitely striking, but I'm lacking in the midface and front most part of my cheekbones, so my eyes are slightly rounded at the lower eyelid. If I had the courage to get cheekbone implants and if there was no risk of complications, I definitely would!
Meh, I have large rounded eyes with an upward tilt, like my cat, and it’s the first thing I get compliments on. I even had a customs officer in Japan tell me I have pretty eyes. Customs is not where you usually get compliments.
@@emilyavery5970 I’ll be 34 this year and I get honey-ed and sweetie-ed by everyone, even people who are younger than me now! Which is a trip. I’ve learned to roll with it. I embrace the “cute”. At work though, you can feel at a disadvantage when people assume you have less experience.
Large eyes are considered to be the prettiest eyes in east asia.. especially in korea. if woman have small monolid eyes they get double eyelid surgery because no one likes monolid eyes here
I’d say my eyes and eye area like my brow-ridge and eyebrows definitely carry my face. I’ve loved wearing a mask everywhere because people can only see my eyes and not my nose which I think is a low point of my face.
I have slanty almond shaped eyes with slight positive canthal tilt and very minimal upper eyelid exposure, but I don’t think they are deep set since I don’t have a strong browridge at all. Also high set eyebrows, which would indicate not having a strong browridge, and relatively high IPD. My mom and dad have similar eyes and we are all black(West African).
I'm also African (east African) and I also have almond shaped eyes that are deep set. I've noticed that some west Africans have slanted eyes with barely any upper eyelid exposure yet people still associate these features with specifically east asians
Great video, this one was quite interesting. However, I have a suggestion for a video or podcast idea; can we objectively rate our beauty? I’m torn between yes and no because I think that some people are delusional or sadly, some are too insecure to confront beauty as being somewhat objective and overall, I think we can be biased when we are uninformed or hide away from certain realities. I would love to hear what you come up with!
Hello!🙂 I was wondering if it would be possible to make a video about the sensitive developmental time periods(I don't know maybe during childhood/adolescence) where one's looks can change/improve/worsen. Are there such periods? And if so, for how long? I hear about heritability and environmental factors matter for many traits, so I assume this applies to human physical attractiveness.
I have almond eyes but also astigmatism, so think it just amplified it! But bc I’m out of college getting more sleep, they are becoming rounder! Before men used to hit on me off the bat, but now it’s mostly people thinking I need help. More of the whites of my eyes are showing, so I guess I look more helpless. Would love for you to touch on this a bit more! 💞
I have astigmatism in my almond shape eyes too & I tend to oversleep, but oversleeping shouldn’t make your eyes rounder. I think you should see a doctor, it’s best not to ignore strange changes. Take care☺️
Thanks for the video! I have to disagree though with the point you are making regarding Anya Taylor. In "The Queen's Gambit", she cast exactly a mostly dominant type of woman aka femme fatale - and was quite convincing. She had to be a more masculine woman in order to prevail and succeed in a discipline dominated by men (as you mentioned yourself), especially in the patriarchic society of the Fifties and Sixties. So she cast in "Peaky Blinders" by the way, as a pretty alpha girlfriend of one of the gang members. It's much more than just a photo of a person in order to convey character traits in a movie, like body language, voice, and words i.e.
"Lowest canthal tilt" as in "negative tilt" like downturned eyes? African artwork both ancient and modern alone would prove that just isn't true. High cheekbone upturned and almond eyes, prominent foreheads is pretty much a universal African beauty standard.
From what I've seen, I have a really attractive face. My bone structure, hunter-like eyes, sharp jawline, and high cheekbones are all perfect. I still have a lot of fat on my face, so I can't really tell exactly how attractive I'll be when I'm fit. It seems like I hit the genetic jackpot. I'm still very insecure about my looks though.
I was always shy whenever I expose my eyes thats why I always wear a mask and have bangs but when I look at myself on the mirror it just makes my eyes more prominent and dark plus my brows are extremely thick I looked more like my dad people around me are always stunned by my eyes they keep saying wow your eyes are so big and super dark while other people they bully me because my eyes look sleep deprived even though I'm not they keep teasing me and calling me eye bags lol but I learned to accept how my eyes looked like maybe its because the people around me had more of a flawless clear and slightly monolid appearance I live in the Philippines I'm a Filipino but I don't look like one probably not a pure Filipina and that makes sense why I have strange eyes and a small button nose.
i like my eyes but the fact that they’re deep set is awful… i don’t even know how to do makeup on them because they don’t have any space to do it and there’s not much tutorials
When i was around 4 i usually took my mom's makeup to make my eyes more almond,i also say in front of the mirror trying to change my eye shape with my hands, i have no idea why i paid too much attention to that being a kid
I'm the somewhat rare exception where I have downturned eyes but my lids connect with my pupil vertically only showing whites on the sides, I also have light hazel eyes as well. I still feel like I look "sleepier" than most people when I'm naturally awake but TBH I wouldn't trade my eye shape for anything, I don't even know how I got to this video lol.
imo my eyes are my best feature. they are deep and wide set, upturned/positive lateral canthus, thin and horizontally wide (a “squinted” look), a bit of scerla is shown under my irises and upper part of my irises are “hidden” under my eyelids and i have that bedroom or siren eye look.
I feel like most people say their eyes are the best part about their face, but I think my eyes are one of my worst features. They look really small on my face and that's probably because I have really prominent and high cheekbones. It's fine though, from what you're saying, my strong facial bones will help me age a bit better.
You have really nice eyes. Not lying and small where? I agree with you on that face part. Madison beer has also small eyes but she also has small features on her face and shape.
Weird because I have very prominent high cheekbones but I have scleral show - but I have sharp inner cantal tilt-maybe I just have week under eye bones 😭😭
I have big eyes with sclera showing, people often complement me on them, but I am self-conscious because of the sclera. The rest of my features are very feminine and neotenous. Should I go for a canthoplasty or would it throw off the balance of my features?
Whose obsession? These videos need to stop trying to talk for everyone, not EVERYONE is obsessed by almond shaped eyes, there is no "our". Beauty is subjective and attractiveness is relative to the subject and what they look for in their prospective partners, it's not as arbitrary as the industry tries to tell you it is. For example, a person with almond shaped blue eyes is likely not to be searching for a partner who already has exactly the same archetypal features. In fact, it's likely that they will think others with similar features will look average to them, as their baseline is their own boring face that they've been looking at consistently for x amount of years, it's not special to them. They are likely to find big round brown eyes attractive, for example, as it's totally opposite to theirs. Opposites tend to attract. The entertainment and cosmetic industry makes alot of money from constantly making people believe they are not good enough as they are. If everybody on the planet was born with exactly the same standard of beauty, the planet would be boring and everyone would look like clones of each other. It would be nigh on impossible for the brain to be aroused and discern partner selection if absolutely everyone looked pretty much the same. This is clearly not what nature intended. Subjectively less attractive parents can also end up having better looking offspring too, it's all about how certain features combine with each other. Two average looking parents tend to produce better looking kids than two supposedly good looking parents. Nature makes its own rules.
Try having nice eyes but bags right under them that can't go away with some ice lol. Probably surgery. My students think I don't sleep. Anyways I hope the tired sleepy look will be "in" soon so I can finally fit in 😂
@@nawal10 then surgery is the only option but leave it that like that. Under eyebags have a special appeal. Considering you are attractive, it's just going to make you special.
@@thanos8638 well people say I look tired or sometimes older looking because of them but what can I do they're part of me I can't change much without going under the evil knife lol. Thank u for the compliment 😇
As someone who sometimes watches NHK World, the Japanese English language channel, they have several presenters of European ancestry living long term in Japan. I have noticed they nearly all have narrow, almost East Asian type eyes. I think it may be an unconscious attempt to fit in. None of their other features suggest mixed heritage. Check it out for yourselves.
My eye are best, almond eye but more big n round look best. Double lid of course. Tan tone. Not too big nor too small, clean clear healthy, not too deep nor too outward.
Okay. Make me feel even more insecure about myself. Do you understand how painful it is when you have your features that are not considered as attractive but you literally can’t do anything about it. It’s torture.
You just gotta accept its part of life to not have everything as you want, appearance included. And you still can find other things to make you happy and fulfilled, and value yourself by as well. I think you're being a bit melodramatic. I'm not happy with everything in my appearance either, but I dont let it ruin my life
epicanthic fold and monolid are NOT the same thing, not sure if the video was saying that they were. although epicanthoplasty is also a thing! its just a different, separate thing than the eyelid procedure.
when you say that you need strong midface support do you mean that the maxilla should be more fowards than the eyes, or that it should just be higher up on the face, making a smaller eye orbital?
I feel like larger eyes just generally make anyone (especially women) look better and it seems like these almond eye surgeries make people's eyes smaller. Also re 12:19 something seems super dystopian about changing how you *act* to suit your face.
Skinny eyes are just so hot. Women are luckier because skinny and wide eyes can both be beautiful on them. For guys it’s more just either semi-wide or skinny but never really wide
every human race has its own aesthetic, caucasian brow ridge, asian cheekbones wider fwhr, african prognatism, that's why we can have children of our own race.
