What's Your Memorable "Secondhand Embarrassment" Story? 

I was at a presentation at the Center for Puppetry Arts, featuring a few of the puppeteers from Sesame Street. They a demonstration on how they operated puppets on camera, showed samples of some of their work, and ended with a Q&A. One woman stood up and began berating them for using feathers in some of their puppets. You could feel the whole thing come to a screeching halt.

My aunt told us my cousin's wife was Israeli. We thought that was weird but when they were coming for a visit we wanted her to feel welcome. My dad went and bought an Israeli flag for the house to welcome her. We got Israeli food to eat and made sure it was kosher. Find out years later she isn't Israeli she is Palestinian. Which makes more sense because my uncle was super Iranian. We never told my dad though because he would die from embarrassment. It isn't hard to avoid the topic because my cousin's family lives out of state and rarely visit. Also my ain't lived in the Middle East for a few years so it is not like she is oblivious to the state of affairs in the Middle East. She is just crazy and doesn't really listen.

I had a coworker who made me inwardly cringe on a regular basis. He was 400+ pounds, and every time our manager Kyle (who was Asian) would walk past, my coworker would put on a horrible Asian accent and would say, "Ahh, Kyle-san! Konichiwa!" Every. Damn. Time. It was almost physically painful. Kyle would just smile and nod but it was clear as day he was as sick if hearing it as everyone else was.

I was a manager of a gym. My assistant manager gave me secondhand embarrassment all the time. She, despite being married, openly flirted with the male members, inserted herself into conversations that no one wanted her a part of, and acted like she was 20 (she was like 50). One of my good friends, who was a male member, told me she sent him intimate photos. I wasn’t surprised.. lol.

Important life lesson: Never ask a woman if she's pregnant. When she's in the delivery room and the baby is crowning, then maybe (maybe!!!) you can think about asking. But otherwise - never!

I like fishing near the doc because then you get a close up show of all the guys trying to show off and almost ruining their stuff 😂 so far one guy dumped his boat half way up the ramp and a couple doing general goofy things like accidentally tripping while getting out. Felt bad for this woman tho who fell in the lake because the husband pulled the boat away too soon and they lost their keys to the depths.

I've definitely been the cause of second hand embarrassment at my own wedding by saying yes instead of I do I know I was hella embarrassed

We have a guy that does regular welfare community service where I work who has shat himself on 3 separate occasions and didn't seem perturbed by it in the slightest. He's overweight and can't be in good health so I guess there might be a medical explanation there. However, I have a theory about it. The dude's hygiene is abhorrent to the point that he usually smells horrendous. My theory is that he isn't shitting himself but rather when his butt crack, in its assumedly unwiped state starts to sweat, it causes what's in there to run out, giving him the appearance of having just shat himself. It sounds farfetched but he is100% nasty so I could believe it.
