Satisfactory feels like a nearly complete game, so what is stopping it from being a final fully-released game? In this video, we'll cover some of the things (but not all) that are needed to make Satisfactory feel like 1.0.

IIRC, the devs mentioned that SAM ore is planned to be used for facilitating late-game endeavors, whatever that might entail.

Outside of the project assembly parts, I'd like to see 'objective' type goals related to sending products to Ficsit. For example, having tier goals for all the different items in the game, and being able to provide a steady flow of those items to be shipped out. There could be bronze/silver/gold (or similar) reward levels for breaking different thresholds of items per minute.

Personally, I'd like to see "surprise" objectives (i.e. "You have 3 in-game days to send us as many of [part X] as possible, starting right now."). This would encourage building modular factories that can be rapidly reconfigured to make different products depending on what the game calls for. This wouldn't even be complicated. Just give the item a temporary bonus in the AWESOME sink, and let the player figure out the rest.

@@NYKevin100 Giving items temporary bonuses doesn’t fully encourage the player to go out of their way to make use of it because you usually end up sinking every type of item in the game at all times anyway.

Blend between biomes are horrible in some places. hopefully they fix the way the map is blended together.

for the update 1.0, i think that CSS want to change the mining system (because of "the unreal contrainsts", i think that the drilling machine mk3 will got an other output) at 2:31, you've got a visual bug with the rail

Three Suttle things I feel should be touched up on are Overclocking, the slug thing is a force of exploration but gives a limit to the amount, they should keep the way you obtain them but just add another less efficient way to get them also. Like maybe an alt thing to the recourse sink. Also I feel there needs to be more animal variation, especially for passive creatures with the extensive biomes. Finally water needs to be touched on, whenever exploring or doing stuff around water it feels very plain

Like much of the environment, water is pretty much not there in any way other than visually. We're outside in the environment and other than visually, it often doesn't feel like it. Much more attention to ambient sounds, as in different foot step sounds, small critter sounds is needed and to have these vary between biomes and the type of terrain we run on would really enhance the feeling of being there. Water is pretty much not even implemented other than having to swim sometimes - water has a current, players need to be careful of this, and it should splash too. Currently we can just walk without a care across the top of a waterfall and while I don't really advocate throwing a player off the edge as a gameplay mechanism, it really should be there to put in a little respect for the environment in the same way that we have to respect not walking off a cliff. Possibly better placement of the player loot box on death is all that's required here to get a balance - as in don't stick it at the bottom of the waterfall on death!

Driving trucks, explorers is not as easy as it was in update 7. The vehicles get stuck when running into small palms. Vehicles can sometimes sink into the ground with the player. Especially when jumping. You can get stuck inside of rocks or mountains and its not easy to get out. Be nice to have a bit more of a solid foundation to drive on. We should have elevators for buildings.

Agreed on the vehicles, and I'm curious to see what feedback they take when Update 8 comes out on Early Access. Plenty of little bugs to be ironed out.

At least with the new engine the overall vehicle physics are much more reliable. I can let my vehicles drive knowing that the only thing causing them to fly off the road is a collision, as opposed to before where it could happen at basically any moment.

I wish there were more round objects like pillars. Walls and floors should be easier to build round shape. Similar to the train tracks. Other materials such as brick and wood. A personal wish would also be to be able to control the route selection of the trains more. I'm talking sidetracks and crossing loops to use .

I think the miner logistics issue will be solved by something like being able to overclock conveyor belts.

Actually the issue is that there are problems when they try to put more items on a conveyor belt. Otherwise the solution would be to make a Mk. 6 belt. With that in mind, it'll be interesting to see what the solution actually is.

They did talk in the past, about adding a second output on the MK3 Miner. But we will see.

I think the easiest outcome would be the ability to snap a splitter right on the miner.

Snapping a splitter onto the miner would work, but I suspect the SAM ore, and derivative materials, would likely be used for a Mk. 6 belt. Hopefully processing for it won't be as annoying as aluminium though...

My biggest issues is Mk III miners and Mercer Spheres. They’re an issue you covered and I’m glad that they might see some development later down the line.

Some parts of the world I’m worried are too small to have story but that I’d really want to know more about are the arches and other planets. The arch features all over the map are clearly hexagon reenforced concrete which hints at advanced ancient aliens! The lava planet in the new skybox has space elevators, so is project assembly system wide or are there multiple?

more ways to move liquid would be nice. we can only move liquids by train and pipes(with conveyors being the equivalent). i would like liquid carrying trucks & drones so your not limited to packaging for more ways to transport liquids i would also like to be capable of shielding radioactive items. it could be like the packager where you insert a radioactive item in a machine(could be called a shielder) and some shielded box and it makes shielded uranium or whatever you shield. then when you deliver it to the desired destination you remove the shielding and use item.

They need to do a recipe rebalanced and rebalanced the final spece elevator requirement. I know they have said they are probably gonna do both.

Besides the Performance Issues and Bugs which some of them are existing literally since Years i really really hope that we get a lot of epic New Stuff to Produce with 1.0 maybe even with new Machines which could require a Mercer Sphere or Summersloop to build one 😊

For the 1.0 update, I think they should add the ability to keep gates closed, since you can do that with doors. It would just be a nice touch for the factory's.

- They should at least finish that S.A.M. ore and those orb thing, make them useful or remove them completely. - A factory manager that can be accessed from the computer inside the hub. - A ridable drone, I don't really like using hypercannon and that green pool, just doesn't make sense. - Make Programmable Splitter able to control item/min, otherwise it is too expensive for what it can do currently - Don't allow flushing dangerous liquid such as sulfuric acid ....

They've been pretty clear about not making flying vehicles for players so I wouldn't hold my breath on that one. Agree on the programmable splitter though, I feel that it's a basically useless item and having it in the game without a good use as compared to the smart splitter feels weird.

A story would be nice, an actual ending would be even better. A goal to strive for. This game is super long and super grindy, it takes a lot of effort and time to finish it. I'm hesistant if i want to finish the current content before 1.0 because there will 100% be a recipe rebalance and a map change that will be big enough where factories will break and saves will go corrupt. It'd really suck to use all that time and then you realize there is no story, just a sandbox game.

Never thought I'd say this, but Paradise Island needs to be either used, or removed. It will be weird if it is there for new non-E.Access players.

The last update on Paradise Island is apparently that the world border is being moved so that players can use it without dying.

There's tons of stuff they need to polish before 1.0 is out, like TONS AND TONS, not only biomes and floating stuff but like rivers going to still water look bad, the planet feels dead after a while, skybopx has graphical issues that take you out of the game, global illumination is still so bugged, holograms and UI get in the way of you building because they block your view, there's need for better indicators of alignment and HEIGHT of certain items so you are not messing about blindly, sorting out issues with placing and locking splitters/mergers and lifts etc. etc.... it's long LONG way off from being 1.0 for me. So 2-4 years give or take? I haven't had any performance issues myself yet on v8. 3060Ti, 32g of ram and AMD 3600... i'm not sure what everyone else is doing with their computers, but for me, the performance has been very good and I've had no issues.

2:28 As an amateur developer, bug-free is impossible. Not just that there will be bugs would be discovered as they are fixing existing ones, but the work required to maintain a bug-free state would halt the development of new updates. So what they need to do is just to fix the bugs that would disrupt the gameplay experience before 1.0

At least Update 8 fixed the issue of vehicles bouncing on foundations! Traffic lights would be cool though, similar to train signals. Vehicles are pretty good at avoiding each other but they are far from perfect.

U8 is better, but still a train wreck. Vehicles are more likely than not to end up upside down and far away from the track set ... on foundations they still 'gallop' like drunken horses.

the duration of saving the game with several seconds freeze still makes the game feel very unfinished. hopefully they find a way to solve this!

Actually, is this by design. Because it needs to freeze to save, during this time, it save everything in the world; where are items placed, what is the status of the machines etc. Side node: the duration also depends on the size of the game. A game that just started saves faster then a game where you are at 'end game' items.

I'd imagine they mean something like Steam Workshop support with that. Furthermore, the Workshop could probably also be used to share blueprints, similarly to how Garry's Mod's workshop has both mods and dupes.

I think people are thinking about this all in reverse. There is an idea that the game going 1.0 will be the thing that fixes these issues, rather than these issues being fixed being the thing that brings the game to 1.0. That's just not how development works. Or maybe there are people waiting on it to leave EA who won't justify a purchase before that who are getting really antsy at how long it is taking. Oh well. Let them cook and finish the game first.

I see what you mean but the Problem is, that not every player (casuals etc) are willing to calculate and optimize for 20h just to make their fuel plant. A Solution could be the Story where it could requiere a lot of resources to finish a Story part wich requires a lot od Optimization and time.

I would like to see more round building elements. Factories ultimately end up very blocky unless you know tricks to turn square things round.

Better support for that would be greatly appreciated. There's a lot of creativity when it comes to making non-square blocks but standard elements such as just foundations split diagonally, even if just one 45 degree type, would make the creativity a lot more accessible to everyone.

I think performance should be improved drastically. It is really unplayable at the moment (U8). I use a i5-10600KF, 32 Gb DDR4 RAM, 12 Gb RX6700 XT graphics card and the game is installed on a 1 Tb Kingston A2000 nvme drive. I play at 1920x1080 resolution at Medium settings, Lumen off. So far I have 1200 hours in the game, I finished all tiers after 800 h of gameplay. My save games are 28.3 Mb. The game stutters, has random 1-3 sec freezes every 30 seconds and framedrops from 18 fps to below 10 fps with Update 8 in Experimental. I have never had this kind of poor performance in any other game. I love the game but the performance, I think, is not up to standard and should be improved. EDIT: I just did a test by starting a new game. Now the game performs beautifully and I get high framerates. The size of a new SaveGame is also 85 kb...

No its not. Satisfactory has always been a game that requires some PC performance. Or Unreal Engine overall. Now with UE5, you don´t have to wonder. This game is optimized pretty well already. Im 99% certain you´re having a lowend PC.

I was able to play experimental with medium - high settings (Lumen on) on a 1050 and R5 3800 on 30+ FPs. And THATS lowend already.

An overall performance boost would be ideal, but I don't think it's unplayable (unless you really have a massive factory). I mean just look at ImKibitz's videos, he reached the Uobject limit in one of his recent videos, and his game is still smooth enough to play with comfort. If you're saying it's unplayable, I assume your specs are close to the minimum specs for the game, in which case you should not expect amazing performance. I have an RTX 3070 and get ~80 FPS on the medium preset with global illumination on, at 1440p. Not the most impressive compared to other games, but it's not unreasonable. Really hoping performance issues get a lot of attention leading up to 1.0, however.

I'm playing on ultra 1440p getting 90-144 fps but there are occasional quick fps swings to below freesync range and little freezes which are most prevalent when riding a hypertube. This is with 5800x3d, 6950xt, 128gb ddr4-3600, nvme. Running with TSR offloads more work to the cpu bumping utilization up another 10%+ which doesn't seem to help the situation and would have an even greater impact on the cpu running at 1080p.

- Mapfixes (holes in the map, nodes not aligned with world grid) - Modsupport (right now, modding is 100% dependent on a small number of people who control the only viable tool for modding, and they are very elitist and don't care for fans of the game who can't mod themselves, monopols are never a good thing, not even with modding)) - Support for more maps/mapeditor (a map editor could basically be a game in it self)

ok, i want there to be solar generators. even if they aren't impressive in power output i'd love to use em for a random remote miner+optional smelters in conjunction with the power storage. even just 4mw for something the size of 4 power storage is perfect in my book. also, making a powered extended flight. like taking the parachute and combining it with a motor to make a paramotor that takes fuel and can fly around the map. and rechargeable batteries would also be cool for using your excess power in personal transport. like the aforementioned paramotor idea.

The devs have been pretty adamant about not adding renewable power like solar and wind. And the reason makes sense. Currently, your potential power is limited by the nodes on the map, and that limited nature forces the player to go from coal, to fuel, to nuclear, as they realize they don't have enough nodes to supply their power. But if solar generators existed, nothing would stop you from covering the entire desert with them and getting effectively infinite power. There would need to be solar "nodes" which would defeat the purpose of having a solar generator. I have not seen anyone suggest rechargable batteries before but that's actually a really cool idea!

@@SatisfactoryNews the solar plants would need a balance for sure. i personally just wanted a neat little self contained and endless power source i could use for remote micro factories....oooo, an rtg using plutonium or uranium. nearly infinite fuel duration but very poor output. perfect for a miner plus a few smelters i just want to run on their own power grid. but the rechargeable battery option is a really neat idea i want to see explored for potential (hell, a truck with it?) also, i want trains that take fuel.

I think 1.0 needs farming/ a way to automate the health inhalers. In a game about automating everything its odd those still all have to be made by hand.

They have been kind of against farming, but we'll see. I certainly wouldn't mind if at least the production of things like inhalers could be automated.

I think having automated search and kill drones would be a great addition. A way to keep the annoying local animals (near our bases) in check and a way to bring in alien DNA in the same way that other resources are brought in.

This game IS a singleplayer-game. Its been confirmed. And we should be happy that they work on Multiplayer. They just don´t focus much on it because this game is meant to be a singleplayer game.

I don't disagree. However, since multiplayer is in the game I think we can all expect that 1.0 should have functional multiplayer. If it's not bug-free then it doesn't feel like a completed feature. Single player should come first, so I don't mind that multiplayer is rough in Early Access.

you really missed out on a lot. Imo i barely play satisfactory and it's just a no brainer they mentioned character customization before and that would be an essential thing before 1.0, i thinks everything here mentioned is trivial, other than performance, which just seemed liek you nitpicking about UE5.

I would consider character customization nice for sure, but I don't think it's "essential" to a full release. Everything else surrounding multiplayer performance trumps that IMO.

I don't care about story elements. Factorio never had them, and never needed them. The obvious unimplemented things are the various alien artifacts and Strange Alien Metal. Both exist in the game right now, but do nothing. Besides that, a more fleshed-out endgame beyond the current final elevator shipment.

TBH I disagree about needing story elements. It's a gameplay-driven game, not a story-driven game. Hardspace:Shipbreaker demonstrated really well how adding a story doesn't help the experience.

Yeah, it doesn't *need* a story, but since there are sprinkles of story elements it either needs a full story or those elements need to be removed. Because right now it's just kind of confusing that there are all these WIP elements.

Am I the only one who *doesnt* want a story? I feel like it'll just water down rather than enrich the game, I just want to continue building my favorites and cities unbothered, some lore is nice I guess but at the end of the day it's a factory game not a story game

A game having story doesn't have to mean it has to be forced upon the player. It could be something like Factorio's final goal of the game, launching a rocket to escape the planet. Many players continue playing the game after that and you could just evade the tech, do whatever you want and nothing would change.

They have said the story will be very light. I imagine it'll be used for a tutorial in the early game and to help people get over things like pipes and oil, which is where alot of people quit and then just something at the end to make it feel like a definite end. I also would not be surprised if they add a game mode to turn the story off for multiple playthoughs.

@@fromscratchgaming Yea, no cutscenes probably, and you can already skip most of the starting stuff like building the hub tiers, so it most definetly is gonna be optional.

From what we know so far, the story will be in the background. Other than the intro sequence, I can't image there being any cutscenes. I think the devs know that the story should not impact normal factory building, but it might give more depth to the exploration aspect of the game, as well as a lore reason for progressing through the tiers.

I think it's more the concept of lore, rather than story. We already have a bit of railroaded "story" in the space elevator requirements, which could be fleshed out a bit but without making too much of a story. In Satisfactory we're just pioneers, one of many, that get thrown onto a planet in order to pillage resources and send them up for rewards. That could easily be continued, unlocking new and varied items/effects, possibly procedurally generated and would give a bit of reason for things, just not a goal.

Personally, I don't want to see a proper campaign or cutscenes in Satisfactory. I feel like that will take away from the reason people enjoy this game. It's a sandbox game, players can make their own story as they play if they want.

Yeah I think we generally agree cutscene would be weird (outside of the intro). I doubt they will use any, as it would feel weird.

No, it has been in early access since 2019 and has been receiving updates since then. But it is not a finished game yet. Although it does feel like one.

as an adult, i HAYE story lines. its 1 of the big draws of satisfactory for me right now. plop me dwn tell me the basics and then leave me alone to do what i want. and to never be bothered. that said, im all for them adding a story and i hope it can be an option...........

It's almost like I say exactly that in the video 🙃 Clearly people enjoy the game without a story to guide them, but there is also a known intention to add a story. They're working on it. Therefore 1.0 needs a story, because it'd be weird if it came later than that. It's less that players asked for it and more that CSS has planting in our heads that there will be a story.
