Players aren’t being paid hundreds of millions over 5 years for a championship, the business of basketball is far bigger than a ring. It’s about the TV deals, the local TV deals, selling out games, blowing up the merchandise, brand impressions and views. If you can increase the value of a franchise and raise the overall net worth of a billionaire than they’re going to offer you what you’re value is within the rules, championship be damned. If there wasn’t a salary cap, Bron would have gotten a crazy contract like Shoehai Ohtani in baseball. NBA superstars are already undervalued.
