He says don't be in a hurry, do your homework, due diligence, give yourself the time necessary to recognize a good deal, avoid a bad used car purchase, or being taken advantage of by sales person

I actually liked this guy's talk. He gives us a glimpse of the dealer side of a deal as well as a buyer's perspective. You could see his passion for automobiles and their industry , as well as the art of the deal making process. He spoke well. I liked it.

Some of the comments are a little bit harder. He gave good tips for novices and maybe a few pro tips. Not the standard Ted Talks quality but not a complete waste of time. Good job for a non-public speaker.

Thank you for this video. You covered all the important areas, especially VIN numbers for car history and bank deals for finance. Trusted mechanics are well recommended.

He has not made one useful point even by the middle of the talk -- don't bother, unless you came from another planet and know nothing about used cars.

I watched at 2x speed while I did something else. He must be talking to first-time car buyers. I did not find anything useful.

Find a used car which you find endearing, and just stick with it. That's what I do. I've got two, a 1991 two door stick shift 6cyl Jeep cherokee, and a 1996 of the same. They're great.

Most important advice in buying a used car - it's used. You cannot see all the parts that are ready to break or wear out. Nor can the dealer.

Where's TED's quality check? Should have read comments below before starting to watch. All criticisms are spot on. Sad for the guy. Seems earnest but has no real insights.

Honking Car Locking Wakes People Up and Causes Noise Pollution Stress. Badly! Please Break the Honking Habit. ...Its just a Habit. We Need to Move on to More Advanced Quieter Technology. Honking is Primative Old School.

I feel suicidal because of Honking car locking and never being able to sleep because of its noise. The auto industry has destroyed lives.

I'm a bit surprised ... most of what he said was in generalisms that I hear from my parents anyway - John Cadogan's stuff is certainly better quality and more entertaining

A swastika? Wow, you must be very proud of that.
@ZopcsakFeri
@ZopcsakFeri 6 лет назад
He might, actually, as the swastika is an ancient religious icon used in the Indian subcontinent, East Asia and Southeast Asia, where it has been and remains a sacred symbol of spiritual principles in Buddhism, Hinduism, and Jainism. White people are often proud of how much they don't know...

What a pessimist. Everything he said was old school car buying. Many dealers are more transparent in present times and would at least remove the empty oil bottles before putting on the lot lol
