Gavin Belson also raised a good point when Richard said he doesn't want Pied Piper to be a soulless corporation like Hooli. Belson pointed out that once Pied Piper becomes as big as Hooli, it will probably be just as soulless as Hooli, Richard only thinks he's morally superior because he's the little guy at the moment. Throughout the show you also see moments that make it believable that Richard could one day become as ruthless as Gavin.

Honestly, the first 4 minutes was pretty terribly narrated and I was lost quickly. Glad that you came through after that.

Damn, what a good video man. Love this show, and the more i watch it there are some deep meanings to the story that you miss with all the absurdity and comedy. Im in the baby phase of my tech journey, and this show shows me what i missed by getting into to this at 33 when i should have at 20. It was so much simple then, in the short years since this show, shit has HIT the FAN, and it was ALREADY HITTING THE FAN, Its moving so fast, there is no such thing has keeping up. You better pick a vague but still on-point lane, and master it. Because this field is reaching cosmic size in areas of study. Its a madhouse, pure chaos, and i love it 🤬

stop calling this show a “comedy”. i’m a vp of tech at one of those companies you know and whose products you use every day. 25 years in the industry and the only thing i can say is this: silicon valley is 90% documentary with some humour sprinkled on top. this is -exactly- how things work in the industry.

I think there is a light but not unfair techno-optimism buried in the highly realistic portrayal of SV (hypocrisy, short term thinking, etc). Richard does end up teaching tech ethics 😆and I do think they leave the door open for actually creating a better future, its just an honest look at how hard it is. "Idealism is foolish, but without it, the world is periless." - nailed it :)
