The Ingersoll Rand 114GQC Air Hammer ru-vid.comUgkxqqoaX03nrziKwF7Bjjcc71YzLEleMvOS was just the tool I needed. I Use it to remove stuck bolts. If held at the right angle you can cut slightly into the bolt. Then turn the air hammer to where it will hammer the stuck bolt to unspin the bolt. Given a little practice it works great. This air hammer gives you the control needed to get the job done right. Very powerful yet still does not seem to have as much vibration as other guns I have used. One of the best I have gotten my hands on.

For context, I have a small garden, so no mass bulb plantings etc. Its midnight here in Australia, on Saturday night no less. I have just spent 17 minutes watching a video about digging holes using a drill. Now I don't own a drill so this is not something I will likely need. But, that my friend is how much I look forward to all of your videos. Watched it, loved it and if I'm ever in the market I now have all the information I need. Thanks so much. Now Iprobably need to go to sleep...🤣

I bought an auger after watching one of your earlier videos. I planted 80 tulips around the new light pole my husband and son installed and he watched me and was amazed at how much easier it made the job. We have rocky and heavy clay soil in unpredictable spots so once in a while it would throw my wrist around. Hubby took the drill and put it on setting 1 and after that it worked like a dream! I can't agree more with you! Hubby said, I bet if you were using a shovel that would be much more work. I said, "Well I wouldn't even be doing this then." So thumbs up!!! Thank you Laura. Another Michigan gardener here.

Question, I have stones in my soil, sometimes Im picking them out. Did your auger still drill through safely or did the auger throw the stones around?
@joyfulkimh8961
@joyfulkimh8961 2 года назад
@@vtwlim67 it depends on the size of the stones. Smaller ones just came up with soil. Bigger ones stopped the auger. The first year doing this all went well, this past fall the drill ripped out of my hand twice and I damaged two fingers. It took 7 months to heal. My husband is going to get me a two handed drill for this coming fall.

Thank you so much Laura and Aaron, great video. Digging with a shovel has become more and more difficult as I have gotten older and this would be the perfect solution to me being able to plant some things in my small yard. I have a good drill with three batteries, and it's a heavier duty drill, so this is the solution for me. Now I am armed with great information and I can get these tools. Thank you again for a wonderful video, when spring comes I will be ready.

Love your videos, I've been watching you since the beginning. At first it was to learn more about gardening & then it felt like I was watching a dear friend so I kept watching to see my "friend" & to celebrate in your new house & growing family. So I am watching this video with my honey, who also enjoys your videos, & he was mentioning the drill you're using is a hammer drill specifically designed for drilling into concrete & masonry as well as regular drilling which is why has the handle. He was saying it also has the bigger opening, a 1/2 inch chuck, smaller drills have a 3/8 inch chuck. I hope this is helpful for anyone looking to buy a drill with a handle or one like you guys have.

This was SO helpful!! I first got myself a 24" auger that was NOT PowerPlanter and it stripped almost right away, I maybe got 3 holes dug then it just would not grip (no hex). So I ordered the PowerPlanter after your planting of the 3k bulbs and it was a world of difference. I did find that the handle was necessary in my clay and rocky soil, and my Dewalt did not have one. However, the replacement handles sell on Amazon for $12 - and thanks to all these great tips I'm finally finishing up my 2400 bulb planting journey. Thank you for helping me do these tasks all by myself!!

Us too. We are a fishing and farming community on the Massachusetts coast. We "grow" rocks here😂! Veterans/active duty gardeners - My husband bought an auger attachment this week and I keep buying bulbs 🌷🥀🌷🥀🌷🥀! Home Depot was throwing.bulbs.out (should have seen my face) so after my husband sarcastically offered to dumpster dive for me (lol) we bought the last three bags of bulbs they had in store that I sniffed out for 50% off (+ 10% military discount). We then headed down to English Gardens (20% off bulbs) & we got a few more bags (of course). Since my husband is a veteran English Gardens is giving free! ($20 value) Garden Club memberships to active duty & veterans this week due to veterans day (another score!) - heads up to your viewers. Thanks for doing this demo, Laura and Aaron! I invested in these a couple of years ago when we had to redo our entire landscape after a flood. They have paid for themselves over and over in saving time and our backs. I use them to plant everything from bulbs to 5 gallon cans and they work beautifully to “till” the soil so the plants have a nice loose home to grow roots. I’m sure this will help many people! 💚🌿🌷

Upvoting you. I live in Portland, and my soil is like solid moist clay. I tried to use the Power Planter 3"x12" auger with Dewalt 20v drill on the settings Laura (and Power Planter recommend) for tulip bulb planting, but it was near impossible. I didn't hit rocks, but the clay itself just hugged the auger completely! When we lifted the drill up, the auger was covered in solid clumps of moist clay. You can poke them off with a finger, but then you keep having to do this multiple times for just one hole to get down to 6"-8". We gave up and did the trench method with a shovel, which was...painful but quicker. We backfilled with bagged top soil, and since we did the trench method, we ended up needing much more top soil than we would have if the auger had worked. I hope Laura can please comment on clay+augers in the Monday video review video! Would a 60v drill get the job done? Do we need dry clay for this to work?

Great Video as always. The circle of box woods in the back ground have grown so much. I remember watching the video of you planting them and them being so tiny. Xx

Thank you Laura. We have a long tradition of planting tulips in our family and I have always used the trench method. Let's just say that I'm usually sore for days after our annual planting. I found your tulip planting video earlier this year after the shut down. Now, with this additional info, I was able to purchase and test out the 2 and 3 in augers that you recommended. Let's just say this year's planting will be very different. So great! Many thanks!

These Augers make a great tool for premixing plant food and combining soil in a container before adding to plants, it's like a portable blender.

I too can no longer handle digging with a shovel unless the soil is like powder! As I am in my 70s, I am learning how to use an auger and need to go look for the handle. I’m hoping Santa will bring me a Dewalt drill for Christmas! One is never too old to learn and being a retired teacher, I am an eager learner who loves and learns from your excellent videos. Thanks to you and Aaron and may you have a wonderful Thanksgiving🍗

We've used an auger and drill to plant summer annuals for a couple years. When doing large amounts, or making patterns in odd shaped beds, it goes really fast.

You are more informative than a Home Depot or Lowes representative!!! I loved your video. I'm building a covered garden in the back yard and the auger drill bits will definitely be helpful. I want to plant flowering bushes in the front yard as well. You have been very helpful. Your property looks great. Thanks!

I need these! I never thought of planting anything but bulbs this way. My knees are so bad I can't dig much anymore. I was wondering what I'm going to do. The cost is an issue, but could save for it. Worth it to save my knees. Still have to dig up plants for dividing, but I wouldn't have to dig a second hole for the division. Thank you so much!

Coffee with Laura and the 411 on augers and drills, such good information!!!!! One of the smaller ones may be a good investment for my work place as we do plant a fair amount and it would help with how fast we can do things and who can dig the hole. I feel like any one can use the drill set up so thank you for all the choices and specific information!!

Thank you so much for this video, I am hoping to get a small auger for our handheld drill and I don't want to injure myself in the process, this is very helpful. Thank you. x

I do love how it crumbles up the soil. Like chocolate cake mix. I just have a lot of roots and rocks in my clay soil so I don’t know how well it would work for me.

I have a lot of rocks and clay soil too. This brand is the only one that will work, and I did end up getting one of the heavy duty one that doesn't bog down or break when hitting rocks. Just go really slowly, wiggle it around a bit, and if you hit a rock bigger than you can move with the auger just move over a bit and try again. That worked for me at least. I did end up using my spade to dig out a couple of rocks b/c I did not want to move over, but the soil had been loosened enough so that was easy, too.

I have a 3" x 24" auger I used with a electric hammer drill and used it to install a flagpole, so far so good.

Thank you!!! I'm close to 66 years old and I still plant tons of bulbs every fall (by hand). Last year I told myself that's it! No more bulbs! Hmmm now I'm planning a hugh Colorblend haul so thanks again, it wouldn't be fall without planting bulbs.

I know this video is old. As a senior with knee injuries, I cannot kneel, but bending over is not a problem. The 24" augur is perfect for me.
