How wonderful that I found you. I am a older lady with arthritis and have bought a new drill and the power planter. You have shown what I needed to know and now I feel confident to plant a few perennials,
So how much power should a cordless drill have to handle the auger bit? (I tried with a few smaller ones, less than 20 amps, and they couldn't handle it) I'm thinking 40amps, higher?
Look for an 18v with 13mm chuck and torque of 70Nm and above. It is highlighy recommended to use a cordless drill with a side handle as this makes it easier to control. The drill we use in all the videos which has proved excellent is the Dewalt 996 www.aussiegardener.com.au/996 Been digging with that one for 7 years and it hasnt missed a beat. Brian :-)
Hi John they arent sharp so when you encounter a pvc pipe you can feel it slipping on it. If the pipe was already damaged then it could bite in and rip into it. We have earthmoving companies use power planters to find where the pipes are before digging with the big machines. Of course still take care. Brian :-)
Hi Patricia The smaller models 207,307,312 have a 10mm hex end. The 324h has thicker 13mm hex end so needs the larger chuck opening. Any power planters that have a h at the end of their name have the 13mm end. Brian :-)
