The Williams 2022 launch was initially a disappointment, with a 2022 show car used for its online presentation and images. But at Silverstone, the real Williams FW44 was being prepped to run ahead of hitting the track for the first time.
So while the initial launch images released were meaningless - aside from revealing the team’s new livery - the pictures of the car in action at Silverstone gave us something definitive to analyse.
In this video Edd Straw picks out the key features on the car, which represents the first design from Williams following its decision to no longer produce every single part of the car itself without help from a senior partner.

@crxdelsolsir
@crxdelsolsir 2 года назад
I believe the Williams dash on the car rather than the steering wheel is a philosophy rather than a lack of upgrade. When teams started using wide multi function LCD they fitted them on the steering wheel while Williams did not. This is possibly because: 1)Makes visual lock easier since the orientation is fixed not constantly moving like on a steering wheel 2) Economic advantages since a reconfiguration,repair or replacement of the steering wheel (for each driver or if damaged since it is removable) does not include the LCD components. It just looks old because of the configuration and not a multi color display but have still made the jump to a large multi purpose display screen.

Personally I don't think so, its kind of a reminder to all the drivers that "someone died horrifically whilst racing for this team" its a pretty sobering thought, and probably not something drivers would want to think about. Whilst Senna was loved, all that he raced for now only exists in name, no member of the Williams family is involved anymore. But they're still supporting the foundation which is better than keeping the sticker and doing nothing, and they also have a dedicated space for Senna in the Williams museum. It's not like they're abandoning the concept, they're just moving it somewhere else.

Seeing 2013-2014 I hope they repeat that, but I don't so much expect it. what I do expect is a marketable improvement. I expect them to at a minimum maintain 8th and fight in the midfield. I would love it if they began fighting for 4th, 5th & 6th. I wish they could be fighting with the top 3, but I don't expect it. I'd be disappointed greatly if they fell though.

I'm a Mclaren fan boy but I'm so worried that they've got it wrong. They either nailed it or really messed up. Their show car could not be complete either so who knows

I think you’re massively overestimating how much of a difference there is between pull and push rod , as almost every single tech analysist has said; there is no mechanical diff if set up right on the weekend , the only difference is in aero packaging
@jordanharris5013
@jordanharris5013 2 года назад
@@Ben-go1iq I'm meaning aero for the most part. Their car is just really different. Not as bulky but we don't know what the underside looks like so it's hard to make a prediction. We'll find out in less than a month thank god.

what caught my attention the most was the top of the car, the rollhoop, is it me or does it look like the hump of the alpine? it's bigger than it usually is...my theory is that they want to cool most of the engine temperature from the top of the car, that way they don't need big sidepods.

I really wish Williams partnered with Renault. Grove and Enstone partnership would be fantastic. It would have been very smart by Renault to have purchased them at a discount and rebrand it as Alpine and keep the Renault name (and yellow color) on the grid.
@siviter

Even a 50/50 venture as Williams Renault would be cool. Renault have lost 3 customers since the start of the hybrid era so I'm sure they would like another team onboard. Williams Porsche does sound nice though.
