Having the highest divorce rate and of course being hated. Yes being hated for trying to help. Oh I almost forgot, being the first thing the Governor wants to cut in terms of your pension. Yeah.....

Another thing that sucks: being called to the same place over and over and over again because the residents there are constantly getting in trouble. You know them by name. At least you'll never be out of a job...

I'm not a cop and I can think of prolly 1k things that suck about being a cop... stroll up to issue a standard speeding ticket and get your face blown off by a psychopath, so stressed you have nightmares, having to make the hardest decisions possible in the blink of an eye, go to a crash and see an entire family dead, have to deal with the judicial system that lets scary people go free that you know are evil.. see children get hurt, deal with corpses, and the list goes on and on and on.... oh, not enough pay.

I just wanna thank you man, I’ve been an MP in the reserves for several years, but after I discovered your channel it motivated me to apply for LE on the civilian side. I applied about half a year ago and got an offer yesterday, I’m getting my region assignment today along with my academy date. Thank you for all that you do, and thank you mostly for having this channel and being so transparent about the field.

I give you mad props for what your doing it gives everyone watching the videos information about what officers and detectives such as yourself put up with everyday.

I taught at our academy for 5 years. I always told the recruits that in this life you will miss "the firsts". First birthdays, first anniversary, first steps, first graduation, you get the idea. This life is not for everyone. I turned 21 in the academy, seems like a billion years ago. I turn 50 in july 24. Im now a supervisor in uniform patrol in one of the roughest cities in Virginia. Those of you thinking about this life, talk with your loved ones. Let them know you may not be there for Christmas or birthdays. Family must be as thick skinned as we are. Your life is amazing, you are living my dream. This is exactly what I want to be doing, I have every detail planned out but still have a long way to go. I'm joining the army for 4 years, then the police force (planning to do it in Oregon) and after a couple of years hopefully become a detective. Funny thing I'm Mexican too lol. Hey 401! Love the vids! I’ve been pursuing a law enforcement career for about 3 years now, applied to some local PD’s and state police, didn’t pass the psych exam the first time for state but your videos have encouraged me to keep pursuing it. I reapplied for state and have gone through the whole procesS again...I found out yesterday that I passed my psych this time and medicals again so I am in! I will be in the Illinois State Police Academy this February!

I can make a short video about what sucks about living here in Hawaii. We almost just got fucking Nuked 3 hours ago.

I remember reading something about a person bought a town car and accidentally bumped the rear of an unmarked police car, the person apologized and the officer told her (they were neighbors but good friends) that she needs to stay to get an officer for an official report. She says “WHY??!!” The officers response? “Because you hit an unmarked police car!” She had to pay 200$

I've always wanted to be a cop, I did ride alongs, I was in the explorers. But with these videos, I get to learn about things I never saw. I only worked a ten-hour shift maybe once a month. The person I am now compared to the person I was does not want to be a cop. But thank you officer401, you are much like me when I was volunteering and I am always still interested in the police and your videos always give me some insight on the good and the bad of what cops go through so I can respect them more.

Question: I noticed that when you were driving, someone passed you rather handily. As a detective, how obligated are you to deal with traffic offenses? And are there clear lines of demarkation between what offenses a patrolman and a detective will/can handle? And did I just give you another idea for a video?

Thank you for ur video. I took notes (cause of the nurse in me) for my son. My only son will be graduating from police academy in October 2018. I will share this info with him. He is so stoked right now. Sure that will eventually change. It will be a bittersweet moment to call my son Officer Clements. You have to be 1/2 crocked to want to go into law enforcement these days cause of the crappy state society is in. I know someone has to do the job, so I appreciate ur willingness to serve society. As a dispatcher I do try to give you guys fun ones. I had an active home invasion and we had the home owner barricaded in his bedroom at the other end of the house. The intruder seriously took off his black outfit to answer the door for the police. I had you guys on the other line so you knew he wasn't the home owner. Dude screamed at the cops "What are you doing here at such and such hour" Pd respond with "responding to a call" and Dude seriously thinks he can get away with it. You guys (PD) had so much fun with that call. You knew he was blatantly lying and to see how far they take it is amazing. The question you guys finally got him on since he couldn't find his wallet on so much ambian in his own home was asking him what his home address was "Just to verify" you know. I'm sorry bc I could hear how it was going down and I had a coworker on the phone with the home owner so I got to just hear how it went down. Criminals are not known for their intelligence. I also enjoy when a consumer store gets held up and criminals, serious to god, put on the uniforms and try to pretend like they work at the store they are robbing while the real employees are tied up in the back. Love when the cops ask them to "ring them up" at the register and the person just falls to pieces. My personal favorite as a dispatcher is when the criminal actually answers the phone when I try to reach the business or residence. You get some little BOYS talking so much trash and dirt to me, it's the only fun part. "Listen baby, if you don't call the cops I know how to REALLY take care of a woman" and you can imagine other things they say. Just to be clear I dispatched a patrol car long before I called your ass and when the cops catch you hitting on dispatch they love it. Oh man, it's all a recorded line so imagine going to court and the prosecutor asking you if you promised to "Bleepy bleep the dispatchers bleep? if she did not call the cops?" and then they play the recording. I like to just let them talk bc if you give most people enough rope they hang themselves and I worked mostly thirds so no hostages and they could talk my ear off and give the cops all the time they want to get there and get in position.
