What Teresa Collins Planners Should Know About Franklin Covey Classic Binders 

Great overview! I switched over to the Franklin Planner about a year ago and haven’t looked back. I got the Blush binder from the Teresa Collins collaboration, too and you’re right - it is beautiful! Not everyone will agree, but I was so glad when I saw that they’re the simulated leather! 😊

You've just solved a major problem for me and I may be able to use my vintage genuine leather zippered Collins binder which I love and I've had it for years and was feeling very sad that I was no longer able to find inserts and refills for it... My heart is so happy now. I'm going to order that punch right now!

Beautiful binder, I'm glad to see that it's simulated leather of good quality. The hole FC puncher is great. I have both Classic and Pocket/Compact which also works in Personal size binders. I know there are less expensive ones on Amazon, but they don't have the stopper for the paper, so the holes don't always line up.

I switched to disc binders for the most part, with occasional use of hanging Avery poly three ring binders. The reason? Other than the fact that they fit nicely into a file drawer in the letter size and smaller for easy access and archiving, it frees me from the annoyance of proprietary ring binders. I can always migrate half size and mini pages from Small binders to letter/Big and classic size binders. A good paper cutter, A disc punch and one standard ring binder punch allows me use all sorts of standard papers and scrapbook paper to create pages I like. The big heavy duty Levenger punch can cut through cardboard very nicely, and I have cut through plastic as well to create covers with it. I like the holes that it makes better than the holes of any other punch, they appear to glide most easily on any desk. (Thumbs down on Martha Stewart punched paper, and presumably any punch that makes similar holes). DayTimer and Franklin planner are nice, businesslike systems. The ring punched pages can be Re-punched to work in disc systems. Then you have the choice of covers - everything from luxurious to humble offered from Levenger, Martha Stewart, Arc, Tul, Mambi, Cloth and Paper, Etsy...and DIY. and there are a lot of companies offering customized pages for people who don't want to design their own. For people who think that Mambi Covers are a little bit "scream in your face loud" or just too "girl power themed" in I found that if you flip the covers they usually have a pleasant and neutrally patterned interior with a small print that says "live creatively." just flip the exterior covers, and even that brand can look a little bit classy. Soft folio covers are lovely and I'll always look good sitting on the desk. They are also nice for trapping things that have not been punched yet. I think the page protectors from Levenger are the best I have ever seen, they easily fit full size paper and have good weight to them. They also have premade and pre-dated businesslike planner pages that are excellent alternatives to DayTimer and FranklinCovey. Once you understand the goalsetting and Role-setting process, you don't actually need special pages for that. It is so convenient to drop a disk binder into a labeled hanging file at a desk for easy access. it keeps the desktop serene and clean of any binders not currently in use. Sometimes I want to see my main calendar/agenda disc binder at the same time as working on finances or other project-focused disk binders. I want them handy. I just don't want to look at them all the time, Even though I have a nice sturdy organizer to hold them. Hanging three ring binders often drag the bottom of a file drawer, though, so unless the bottom of the file drawer is open, most people are happiest with the Avery poly ones… With top index tabs instead of side index tabs. Side index tabs are fine on even the largest disc binders because they don't tend to stick out from the edges. I also like to store my extra paper vertically in a hanging file where it's easy to access.

Great video and informative. Can you do the same with compact size? Finding the right inserts has been a bit of a challenge. If I use wide the tabs will stick out too much and will get in the way of the pen loops. I know some say to have wide in their compact but I find that a bit uncomfortable.

But being that it’s just a smidge shorter and wider if you prefer A5 it shouldn’t be that big of an issue correct
