I find that our VW ID.4 Pro S AWD with 20" wheels is one of the best riding car that I have ever owned. Not sure what size wheels you drove but the ride is stellar on mine. Great ride/handling balance. Nice review.
If you do a quick double-tap on the “rear” button for the windows and then utilize the switches…..both front and rear windows roll down simultaneously on each side of the vehicle.
One thing you didn’t talk about is the voice commands. I don’t know if they are ok in english but in french they are almost unusable. Got to fall back on google or apple to use commands but they dont relate to the car functions.
They're pretty bad in english also, so far we haven't found a car that has voice control that works well outside of Android Automotive-based systems that use the Google Assistant.
You do realize they are real door handles right? If you tug up with a little extra effort the mechanical door handle will open the door. Its a backup so if you have a dead battery you can still get into the car. Also the handle on the drivers door has a litte section you pop off to expose the physical key hole, again backup if your car or your FOB battery is dead.
Good for emergency situations, but as you mentioned it's not a daily sort of use for those. Manufacturers seem to be testing out all sorts of 'new' ways of doing old things, almost every EV has some sort of gimmicky way to get into the car. I get that they want to shave down a few points of drag coefficient but at what cost to the user experience.
😂 I guess the driver of the golf r just got fed up with you and let you go away. Sorry but the difference in the performance of both car is just huge and not in favor of id 4. Nice review though!
Talk about least effort!!. So you MUST hold down the 'rear' for a couple of seconds to roll down the rear windows....and it bothers you? 99% of the time you will be rolling the front windows up and down. It is a smart move by VW. When I go to roll down my front windows, most of the time, its the rear windows that go down.....yup...where my elbows rest on the door handle the natural place for my fingers is on the rear windows. I get caught out most of the time with this 'feature' Good call by VW.....only 2 window switches is nice. I have already ordered the IS.5...cant wait. You do know why the infotainment buttons are not illuminated dont you? It is because the hand gestures to swipe across the screens use infra-red to work, and they cannot do this if illuminated. Again, its a no brainer. if you wan to go to a tile on the infotainment, while driving, it is much easier and safer by swiping. As for illimitation, you will know where each button is located anyway, without the need for illumination. VW do stuff correctly, and have tested the system inside out. I guess they have to play to the lowest denominator.
