"Paper Child" or... children...? Either way, illustrations of characters that are cut out and seem to interact with the real world! It's not a new concept, but it's always been something I wanted to try! Once I made one I couldn't stop... these li'l guys are so cute!

Paper children always remind me of when I was a kid. In Denmark, it has been a tradition around Christmas to make or print "Kravle nisser" (google it for photos :D ) which is translated roughly to Crawling elves. Kravle nisser was invented by Frederik Bramming in 1947. They are small elves dressed more in the Scandinavian style. You cut them out, and they got small flaps that you bend so you can tape them on shelves or on top of your tv, etc. etc. They are usually drawn in poses where they hang from the edge, sleep on the edge, or other fun stuff. Some also hang with another Elf dangling from their leg, or their pants (So you can see their butt :P) and some wrap gifts etc. It is an easy and fun kid's activity here, as they get to pick the spots for the elves normally etc. (Ps. I am not saying that Frederik Bramming invented paper children, just that I love how the concept is so similar to what I have culturally grown up with ^^ I can deffo recommend googling Kravle nisser :D they are super cute usually)

I loved this idea, pretty cool concept! I hope you try it again - even create a scene on your table at home or something. An idea for another time, maybe use little skewers on the back of the paper children to anchor them into the ground?

Man, I haven’t heard of paper children since high school. I made one. He was Ivan Braginski (Russia) from Hetalia, I was taking away his vodka bottle. I wish I still had him. I might somewhere in our storage unit back in California, but I don’t know anymore. That was over 10 years ago.

Just awesome! What a great idea for quarantine. I have had a fleeting idea of doing paper dolls and now it has come back with a rush and I have ideas for it- that's the biggest hurdle. My favorite is the bare butt hiding in the log and the swinging dolls.

Oh wow! I remember I used to make a whole bunch of paper children! I would often make them either being hung by their shirts or scarf (like as if you’re grabbing them) and I had some of them with their cheeks squished as if I was poking their cheeks! This was like a good throwback video~!

In elementary school, we read a book called Flat Stanley, where this kid got flattened one day and then went on a bunch of adventures. Then we essentially created a paper child and gave them to a friend to take somewhere and send us back photos of our character doing things

I miss doing paper children. I used to do hand drawn paper children of my Gaia Online friends interacting. It was my way of "hanging out" with friends that I would never actually meet IRL. This video makes me want to get back into doing paper children again.
