I think his recall meme stands as "accurate" for the intended comment .... Bacon is seldom recalled for bad bacteria... not that it can't haVe bacteria, but because we don't eat bacon raw or undercooked. We dO eat vegetables raw and often not well rinsed ..and some vegetables are routinely handled with unwashed hand throughout their production ... Where as bacon is not usually handled bare handed. hmmm...Bacon, Lettuce and Tomato sandwich is sounding pretty good about now! ☺

Cutting the carcass into desired "cuts" for their variance in texture and flavor, and for packaging and cooking, is an added convenience humans enjoy. After we are not like other meat eating animals , like hyenas, lions or african painted dogs, that rip their kills apart and eat it them while they are quickly dying.

My uncle lived to 97 eating the worst possible diet of ice cream, desserts, prepared foods, etc. But he exercised by riding a bicycle, and he drove, played bridge, and was socially active. He was sharp up until his heart gave out. He wasn't overweight, either. We all age differently, and some of us have very good genes that gives us extra advantage over some not-so-great eating habits.

I worked in the food industry for thirty five years and a recall because of a possible metal inclusion is considerably different than recalling produce because of poisonous contaminants. P.S. Sausage isn't Bacon. As long as you're fact checking.

The problem with people getting sick with lettuce or veggies is because they don’t wash them at home. They use them straight from plastic bags. You don’t know who handles the food. Even though it’s rinsed at the factory thousands of pounds lettuce are washed. Lettuce should have leaves separated not washed in one unit, in to or three waters then let drain and put in plastic container. All produce should be washed.
