Not all Titanium pots are of premium titanium, just as hand tools aren't all made of premium grade steel alloy. There is many Titanium grades currently in production for different applications. Titanium is typically alloyed with aluminum 6% and vanadium 4% by weight to enhance strength, corrosion resistancce and ease of final product fabrication. Although pure grade titanium is also available, its typically only used for dental and orthopedic implants. Most Titanium cookware being produced at this time comes from either Thailand - MSR etc) (China - Toaks, Keith Titanium etc) and Japan - Snowpeak, Evernew). Japanese titanium produced by Evernew and Snowpeak is of a purer grade which is cold forged resulting in a thinner but stronger Titanium cookware, which is also more visually unique (shiny, semi grainy texture). Keep in mind that certain anodized aluminum pots can be just as strong as Titanium at similar weights. Although not as durable for long term use. Titanium is also a very poor conductor of heat, less so than steel, which is already a terrible material by itself for cookware (that is why steel pots have aluminum discs at the bottom or fully cladded with Alu layers to help spread heat evenly) This will result in poor heat distribution across the titanium cooking vessel and thereby hot spots and scorched food, unless very close attention is paid while cooking. The most conductive (best to least efficient ) materials for cookware are: Copper (lined)> Aluminum > Aluminum clad steel , Steel, Cast Iron, Titanium. In conclusion I would definitely buy titanium for weight savings, and long term durability...just don't plan on cooking anything elaborate on it, unless you enjoy burnt food.

HEINRICXVI Very interesting and helpful. I have a question: There's a 2000ml titanium pot on Aliexpress at 257g, but Macpac has a 2500ml anodized aluminium pot at 290g. I can't find a 2.5L titanium pot weighting less than that. So is it worth the money?
Toaks. Plus I like to be able use mine on a fire, like you did on your Toaks, In which I think it NOT wise to do that with a doubled walled product. Just a FYI, Snowpeak makes a product called "Hotlips" , a silicone edge cover for your mug so you don't burn your lips when drinking a HOT drink and I have one on my Toaks 450 mug! I did a review of it on my channel.. I like a Toaks 1100 and a 650ml along with a fancyfeast stove for a cook system... All together, awesome job Devon! Mark...
is it just me or does a double walled mug seem fucking pointless with out a lid? u get a double walled to keep ur coffee hot for houres but without a lid idc if its tripple walled its not gona perform
@@baysword Depends where you're camping. If it's 70°F in the morning, any cup will do, but if you're in the Boundary Waters where it's often 40°F in the morning, your coffee will go cold in 5 minutes unless you have an insulated cup.
David Dawis yeah but you don’t need double wall vacuum insulated cup to insulate your drink. Just go with a cozy and you can still use the pot to cook, whereas double wall cup only can serve one purpose (also more expensive)
For my money Snow Peaks and Evernew are the best quality/design. Followed by Vargo, but I’m warming up to Toaks. If it’s not titanium, I’m not interested. Great review.
Good review! I agree i think it's just about price and features. All titanium is generally the same. For me it's about the cheapest titanium I can find. I stopped using aluminum due to it being harder to clean soot off of. And you have to be more careful with it in general. Titanium is pretty much indestructible. 👍
The double wall cups are not really "cookwear" you can't cook with them or heat anything up, they are just a fancy insulated mug. The single wall cups/pots are very useful and are much lighter then the stainless steal pots. Most of the GSI stuff you have there is aluminum, and with the new health concerns I would stick with titanium or stainless.
Absolutely agree on the double wall not being cookware. Disagree on the aluminum - those are anodized and (probably) won't leech. Also current research is leading away from any connection between aluminum and alzheimers. My camp cups and pots are stainless though, because I am cheap.
As someone whop has all of them, I can tell you older msr stuff is the best, snow peak next. But I am impressed with Keith, its almost as good for a lot less.

Paria and Ninja Prepper are justs brands. Like Heavy Cover titanium products and several other brands their titanium cookware is made by Keith Titanium in China with a different logo. That's why they all look the same. You can get the exact same products on ebay with the Keith logo for less money shipped from China. Keith makes good products.
Thank you for the very detailed review. I'm going to grab the 750 ml Toaks with bail handle, for my wife and myself. We can cook and split most meals in it, and their attention to detail is worth the extra 5$
Great video brother! Excellent info! I personally own both for different purposes... my GSI is great for cooking directly in the pot... which I rarely do... my Evernew Titanium for boiling water... which is what I take 95% of the time for my 600 cups of coffee a day!

It’s probably worth mentioning that Titanium is a terrible conductor of both electricity and heat, and is really only useful to boil in. So for the budget minded that don’t think an extra 1/2 - 1 ounce is going to snap their back in half like a twig. Maybe don’t spend 3-4 times the amount of money you would on a decent aluminum pot that will boil your ramen just fine.

Double walled is useless. They ONLY work if you prep them like a thermos, heating them with hot water until hot, then adding your hot beverage; otherwise it just acts like a regular cup. You are better off carrying styrofoam cups, they keep heat instantly, you don't have to warm them up first.
the best is the lightest IMO..otherwise i wouldnt even use titanium.. i use the toaks 550 with the BRS300t 3.5 ounce cook set. i also have a snow peak 700 from over a decade ago and its kinda heavy with the steel lid..its deceiving its 4.6 ounces for the pot..more than my pot and stove that i use now. ive cut that to 3.5 ounces with a piece of foil as a lid..but thats kinda ghetto..so for 30$ i got the toaks..price was right and the weight was right at 2.6 ounces with lid..
YOU CAN NOT COOK IN DOUBLE WALL A POT!!!! I’m my experience the more expensive pots use more titanium, less alloys are thicker, more durable and slightly heavier. You can see and feel the difference. Get a good one it will last a lifetime. Remember double walls are not for heating water, but do keep your liquids hot or cool for a lot longer. The outside wall cools off fast so you don’t burn your lips.

Tried to digest everything out there and decided on the Toaks 2.0 liter at $75. Stick a crowbar in your wallet and go for it. I now have the volume to actually cook, not just rehydrate. I think people get drunk on the weight savings and don't gratefully reap the reward preferring to gram miser.
Okay I am to cheap to buy Titanium. But I am not convinced will work to drink our of. I have SS and AL and both are to hot to drink out of and Ti has and even higher heat exchange rate, i.e. to hot to drink out of. I know GSI makes hot lips Silver cup lip covers. Convince me.
Adventures with Frodo I cook in the metal, and always eat and drink from plastic. My one meal/tea plastic bowl is about 900ml and probably 80g. Used it for years. That's the setup I like, and it happens to solve the burn thing at the same time.
The reality is, for a fraction the cost, Aluminum is just as good. A whole Ti cook kit MIGHT save an ounce... Yeah, figured that out after I bought it. Cool stuff, but still...
IMO Keith Titanium makes the best titanium products, Toaks is crap compared to Keith. I never use my Toaks products after i got my Keith mugs and bowls. And Keiths lids are so much better then Toaks lids.
bullshit, titanium is not the best matirial for ccoking. It's to thin, to weak. Mugs you show are made mainly of aluminum. Titanium is just a small addition - of about 10%.
