I have a 3meter inflatable with a 6hp Honda … I would add a Handheld VHF Radio to this list …. A Loud Air Horn … a loud Whistle and regular horn you use with your mouth, a small reflector mirror, a BRIGHT ORANGE FLAG, and water proof bag and grapple Anchor and Rode .. and finally …WATER … basically a go bag

For all the prep, since you fish ocean in my opinion, you're missing two critical items, neither of which is expensive. The first and most important is a handheld marine VHF radio preferably with DSC. Yes I know you have a cell phone, and you can get a signal, but you have to call someone (Cost Guard or Harbor Patrol) and get routed. A waterproof marine VHF radio will reach out to any boat in your area to render assistance, as well as reach Coast Guard and Harbor Patrol which monitor the emergency frequencies 24/7. Also, you really should have a Vessel Assist Capt. membership. They will come out and retrieve you and tow your vessel. The harbor patrol and coast guard are not required to save the boat. I have fished Palos Verde to Oceanside since 1965, been part of more rescues than I want to remember in that time. You have gone the extra mile to have the trolling motor, take the extra step to get a radio. (By the way lobster fishing off of Dana Point is usually good).

How are you liking the boat and the fishing?

I love it! i think I just love cruising through the ocean water and get fresh air :) but it's been amazing, I do feel i'll have a normal boat docked somewhere in the future but love the process of prepping, packing, and put them all away and not having to worry about leaving it somewhere :)

Did you have to register your boat? Do you get checked often?
@Fishing_Fables
@Fishing_Fables Год назад
Yes i did have to register if you have a motor for it, the registration process isn't the easiest since you have to fill out dmv forms and obtain registration and the sticker for the boat as well. For mine, it was a two year registration. I haven't gotten checked yet for two years I've been going out, I normally go out either redondo beach or santa barbara county and I think they aren't very regulated than perhaps bigger harbors like in san diego or newport beach areas but always have the proof in case. I did get checked for fishing license proof while surf fishing on the beach down in Huntington beach though so good to double check on that as well.

@@Fishing_Fables thanks for replying man I appreciate the videos. I live in Orange County not too far from you guys and got a older dinghy and motor but having trouble registering since he didn’t have all the paperwork. Still want to fish in the meantime.

What type of transom wheels are those?
@Fishing_Fables
@Fishing_Fables Год назад
these aren't really transom wheels that you put on the boat actually, they are kayak trolley wheels I use for my inflatable kayak and just using it for the dingy as well and works actually great, only thing is when you're using launch ramp, you need to make sure to tie the wheels to a rope so you can pull it out when under the water :)
