The western Pride is an old boat. I went on her 2nd trip. in the 70s.and all through my younger years. fantastic ocean goer. Can handle very rough seas
I'm going to be buying the exact same boat soon, was wondering if you could give me some advice. I will primarily be fishing with 2 people, both in rivers and back bays, is a 5 horsepower outboard enough power? I see you run a 3.5 but I'm concerned that with 2 people + gear it won't be enough to fight against current. I'm pretty big and tall guy so I know that is a factor.
U gonna have to replace that “wood” it’s just glorified cardboard. It’s ok for cheap indoor furniture not so much for outdoor use, once it gets wet it’s a wrap
That's not wood. It's particle board and if it gets wet, it's ruined. I know, hard to imagine on a boat. Something like Baltic Birch (look it up) with several coats of urethane on it is what you want.
The sb front is elevated so on camera looks shorter but they are the same length actually, I should show different camera angle for sure next time! Thanks for the comment!
Hi I got the 10ah here is the link if you need www.amazon.com/NOCQUA-Power-Battery-Pack-10-0/dp/B06Y1SS49M/?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_w=nRGzD&content-id=amzn1.sym.5f7e0a27-49c0-47d3-80b2-fd9271d863ca%3Aamzn1.symc.e5c80209-769f-4ade-a325-2eaec14b8e0e&pf_rd_p=5f7e0a27-49c0-47d3-80b2-fd9271d863ca&pf_rd_r=4K0R6H84MCXC0E052N7P&pd_rd_wg=AxYSD&pd_rd_r=f338ced8-a1c2-40b5-9ef4-7d6f8e0bc5b2&ref_=pd_gw_ci_mcx_mr_hp_atf_m
They do the job but after a long time of sitting, I often think it'd be nice to have a cushion so my butt and back wouldn't hurt. I think this set up would be good if you go out for a couple of hours but may not be the best more than half a day
@@Fishing_Fables I see, thank you for sharing. Do you think seats with cushion would be okay in the ocean? Also a question, what do you think of sd365? have you ever launched it by yourself into ocean? I also have inflatable cb330 and I launch from beach, so sometimes I have to carry it
One of the pros of CB is that it's significantly lighter so better to travel around with it, and just been keep using it since I'm used to it, perhaps I'll switch when needed but for now CB works great
SD def performs better on water, a lil faster and glides, one thing I don't like is that it's so much heavier than CB so I"m drained after taking SD out haha
I have a 3meter inflatable with a 6hp Honda … I would add a Handheld VHF Radio to this list …. A Loud Air Horn … a loud Whistle and regular horn you use with your mouth, a small reflector mirror, a BRIGHT ORANGE FLAG, and water proof bag and grapple Anchor and Rode .. and finally …WATER … basically a go bag
no worries! I had a trouble one time when the drone was trying to get home and my boat was already at different location from where it took off, I had to make sure i bring it down to my location before it starts to go home before battery dies haha
Only thing you didn’t say in your video is are they mad different wjat o mean is one that cost 700 is not as well made as one 2000 dollars they you buy is what I was looking to hear about tho hmm
I can agree with that, i mean there is a material difference too one is thiner than the other so there is a risk getting easily ripped too, I think i've experienced that but not particularly due to not being made well, but def good point
Ya I just bought the 16 ft Saturn inflatbe boat bog says it’s heavy duty doesn look like it tho not sure says it heat welded to came FedEx it has some little scratches on the tibes kist wondering what I paid for it 2000 dollars should I worry or are the big tibes strong as I fish the ocean don’t see any leaks kist aciff marks but look great don’t know if the aluminum seats can hold my 245 pounds tho lol but hope so what do you think about Saturn boat so I know not to shure about there boats I know you got the cheaper one tho
nice getting a 16ft! I hope you're having fun with it, for 16ft, that should easily hold your weight for sure in my opinion. overall, I think saturn is great brand, the one i have is def more for just cruising around, it's not for the heavy duty fishing boat for sure, it wasn't made for that. I think if you spend 2000 or more, you're getting thicking heavier material that could endure more overall, also great performance wise. I think scratches wouldn't be too much of an issues but would be good to check for air leak using mixed water with soap and spray around so you can see if there is bubble forming.
For me Saturn are not good I just bought the 16 ft aluminum floor sd488 and it came with scuff makes and what look like a little finger nail cut on it tho when I pay 2000 dollars for something I expect it to be new tho I’m thinking Rhett sent me one that was used and didn’t even get the hand pump with it tho not happy bris is better now for me mine came with everything and better made them Saturn I bleave
It’s a hookup bait that I’m using so I’m just dropping it all the way down and up and down and up, I seem to have a lot of luck using that for any type anywhere
I can normally go out 1-2 miles out max, I don't really need to go further for any fishing since I do more shoreline fishing anyways but if I need to, i feel pretty safe going further, it's just I have a small outboard motor so probably not a good idea to go far :)
I start from a harbor so usually not fighting much waves but 3.5hp would be enough to fight majority of outgoing waves in my opinion :) hope that helps!
I have a small set of wheels that i use for kayak and i use that for this dingy as well. Ok so I bought the 2000 dollar Saturn 16 ft heavy duty one wjat the difference between mine and a 1000 dollar one I’m hoping mine is stronger and better tho
Sounds like you purchased this one www.boatstogo.com/inflatable-boats-sd488.asp, this looks amazing, first you have the aluminum floor which will give you more sturdy balance, I just have an air fill inflatable floor so kind of hard to stand for a long time if fishing or anything. You also have ability to install steering wheels and seats since the boat is big enough and heavy enough to carry all that weight. it's just built for more comfortable experience. in that link, you can click on More Picture section to see what you can build out :) wish i have that one for sure
@@Fishing_Fables ya that is why I got it still waiting for it to come hopefully woth no problem amd no issues with the boat first time I ordered form that sight amd Saturn to I hope it’s made like Saturn says thanks for the information we will see got Pam’s this summer this is why I whemt woth Saturn instead of bris will see thanks
Yes, please see this link, this is the kit i used to do both! www.readysetboat.com/mercury-3-and-a-half-hp-to-5hp-upgrade-kit-carburetor-and-propeller.html?gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjwiYOxBhC5ARIsAIvdH50LfmCWrrDl2FPrUA2PA3Fw7zF9PAYAgNap_0j63-Fs6dQSEo1Tk-UaAvreEALw_wcB Also I watched some youtube videos to actually do it, it's fairly easy ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-l4s2f8bHbKA.html
Hey thanks! I upgraded my 3.5HP to 5hp by replacing the carburetor and without any equipment and just me I was able to hit 11mph, I think with 3.5 I’d say around 7-8 I believe. But with better boat I’m sure you can get it up higher. My boat isn’t really made for high performance so it def drags more
I have the same only I Order 2 bait chaor off Amazon amd bolted them to the aluminum seat woth swivel amd they can lean a little back bit it’s not a recliner. Chaor tho cheapest way I paid 120 for 2 boats seats work great
Hey, nice video, I normally go out with the wife in our itiwit X100 3 seater so I would need the motor set up towards the stern/rear of the kayak and I would operate it and the wife sitting towards the bow/front. Whats your suggestions please?
For the inflatable kayaks, the best and easiest way to just cruise with your family without much setup is to use the electric motor and attach it as fin motor. So instead of attaching the fin on the bottom of your inflatable kayak, it'd be the motor and a battery would be on top with you in the back somewhere, and you can steer with your paddle. Example: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-FrppQme6L3s.html This is the same motor i have which i attached on top but with different setup you can convert that into a fin motor. this way you don't need to do all the modification and setup on top and just attach on the bottom and go. You can adjust speed on your wrist. If not, then you'd need some sorta modification like i did on the video which will take some time to build out depending on your kayak. There are some videos on youtube on setups like that with electric trolling motors here ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-KXx_x-AT9V8.html
No I don't ever have issues of it coming off, it does rock back and forth so I put milk carts on the bottom so it sits on the bottom of the aluminum to stay flat and not move
