I just broke up with someone this morning and I really needed this. I got distracted and turned my back from God during the relationship now I'm back and know that God has been waiting for me!

Every heartache is preparing us for the next experience or relationship. It is shaping and teaching us.

I have been crying nonstop for more than a week, and really you're making me cry more with all the reality you're pointing out. I have given my absolute all to this person and it hurts so badly. No appetite, not wanting to work, or even leave the room. It's making me stronger spiritually, yet it's so exhausting. Yes to waking up and being real with God, honest from the start.

Throughout my life I've always stayed away from dating and trusted God to bring the right girl into my life in the right timing. A few months ago, that prayer was answered. Ever since then I've grown to love her more and more, and I've been trying to stay on God's path through it all and honor Him with the relationship. Yesterday I had a long heart-to-heart conversation with her and came to the realization that she was idolizing me and putting me on a throne that I don't deserve, but it hurt both of us immensely when I tried to step down from that and let God have His rightful place in her life. Today, after a ton of praying and thinking and talking to mentors and seeking advice, I realized it would be best to break up, at least for a couple months. This video happened to be in the suggestions when I opened RU-vid, and it's a great encouragement. Thank you.

My last break up was weird she knew I was a christian and then one day left me cause she said that she can't be with a man that puts God above everything so she says you want time to think about it I said there is nothing to think about God is my everything so she left..... But we recently started talking but then she wanted to get back and I said no that I can't be with a person that doesn't agree with who I am a christian and I kind of felt bad it's just a confusing time... My first real breakup got me so much closer to Jesus reminds me of 2 Corinthians 12 where Paul talks about his thorn in his flesh and jesus said to him my grace is sufficient for you , for my power is made perfect in weakness .... Suffering is always a Good thing cause like you said God always meets us there and we truly see his love

just got out of a 6yr relationship, I'm 23 and I have been experiencing so many different emotions. I refused to run from the pain or fill that void with the wrong things. I've cried and prayed for a month now. thanks for the encouragement.

Two weeks ago I broke up with my boyfriend because I wanted to do the right thing and I know my relationship with him is not giving honor to God. It’s very hard to let go of someone you love and someone who loves you as well but my spirit is longing for what is right. but still there is pain in my heart .. although I’m trying me best to focus to Gods love for me there is this sadness in my heart, I’m doing a prayer and fasting to humble myself before God, to honor God and to deny my flesh so that my spirit will be stronger. Its been about 4 weeks since my ex broke up with me and trust me its been really hard for me:( But when I open Gods word it comforts me and I feel better. Of course there's days were it's good and then there's days when its all bad. But I know God has a plan for me. It's also really hard for me because we're both the worship leaders at our church and so I see her every Saturday when we have worship practice and Sunday's when we have service. As well as Wednesdays. So it's hard to see her and knowing that fact that we're not together no more and I still have feelings for her! Like Alyssa said it was a good breakup not a crazy one we both were very good about it and it wasn't all chaotic like my past relationship. More mature about everything. But I'm still praying for her and for me that God will give me the strength to keep pushing and to do what He has called me to do here on Earth. Sorry but thought I would share this. Thank you! I recently went through a breakup after a nearly four-year relationship, and all of the things you guys said were things I learned in the last six months. It was so hard- but so sweet because it brought me closer to the Lord! I heard Him speak to me more and clearer than ever before. One verse that has encouraged me lately, though I've heard it my whole life, is Romans 8:28, all things (even breakups) work together for GOOD to those who love God and are called according to His purpose. Those of you also healing from a breakup, cling to the promise of this verse, and to what Alyssa said: it's not in vain, He doesn't disappoint, and He is right by your side.

My boyfriend and I recently broke up, and I think that it's hitting my really hard because we've been best friends for years. He's leaving out of town for college in the fall and while we've both known it was going to be challenging we never thought it would end like this. The relationship was healthy but we still could put God first more into the relationship. Right away I thought of you guys, and seeing this video has really opened my heart up to God. You guys broke up previously and now you're married, which gives me hope that God will grow us individually, and that He may redeem and heal our relationship in the right time. This absolutely made my day! I just went through a breakup a month ago and thought he was "the one." I would keep trying to suppress the burden of the breakup and not let myself grieve, so this definitely provided more wisdom for me to trust Jesus and know he does things for a specific reason. My boyfriend and I just broke up last night. Well, he broke up with me. We were together for almost two years, we're in university together and we were so happy. Everything was fine. He told me he felt uncomfortable being in this relationship because I was religious and he was not. During our relationship I had faith that God will touch his heart and he will follow Jesus' path so when we graduate, we could possibly get married. Before our relationship started I asked God that if he was the One, to put him in my life and he did. Now that this is happening I have to remind myself that God is so great, everything will work out if I'm patient. God needs me and him to seek Him. I really need prayers right now guys. just been through an extremely difficult breakup and God had not left me, my ex is beginning to have feelings for a girl I was certain throughout our relationship he was in love with and before our relationship we were best friends, he wad the one guy that I trusted and because of the break up I grieved and grieved the day he broke up with me and the day afterwards, he wasn't a christian and my mum was explaining to me that because he doesn't love the lord he has no morals and doesn't stick to what he says, I see him all the time but the Lord never fails me and has and will alwayd be with me, when I was with my ex I would ask the Lord to make sure i was close to him and this breakup is how God wanted things to be, through this breakup I realised amazing things about God that I will never turn back on I've found true love and I know God is 100% worth every single day and second, you will never loose God he always wants you, I thought about it like this... We are constantly breaking up with God and leaving him but he never leaves us and imagine how bad your breakup, we all do the same to God and yet he still loves us and WANTS US... that is what you call TRUE LOVE. Thank you guys. My girlfriend broke up with me today, but it wasn't because of me or her. She was the one who truly showed me to God and changed my life, we dated for over a year. Recently, I called for a two week break to refocus my life on God and just get back on track. When we met again, she told me God had been moving her toward the decision of breaking up with me for the past few days. She still loves me, she's just trusting God with this. Even though I'm leaning on God so hard, I'm still hurting so bad. I don't know what else to do.

People after a breakup need hope. I recently got dumped by my girlfriend who I loved so much. She proceeded to tell people what we did which caused the pastor to find out and rebuke us. Her mother hates me and she might as well. I just need hope that there's a possibility she might be mine again. I know this was gods will because I kept sinning in the relationship (not full blown sex) and I knew I wasn't ready to be in a relationship at the moment that is purely a godly relationship. We need hope after things like this

You both lead me to tears. My boyfriend broke up with me two weeks ago. Our relationship was a little less than two months and I’m at home thinking exactly what you both said, “I should be over him by now.” But it hurts and I miss him and I do grieve the loss of the friendship and the hope of what could have been. God has been my stronghold through this entire relationship and I need, and want, to seek him as such in the healing as well. Jesus has been so faithful in meeting me right where I am, but seeking him in some moments, like now, are harder than others. Thank you both for your hearts and your ministry. I also enjoy watching videos by Jeff and Alyssa. They have touched my heart in a lot of ways and continue to bring back to a place of worship and grace and love. I have been married for 2 years now and during these last few years, God has been a present and daily treasure for me and I feel like I have become connected with Him more because of what He has done in my life. I battled with depression, I battled with anxiety, and I battled with the loss of my aunt last year - and in all of my struggles and in all of my pain, God has remained constant. Being a Christian isn't an easy walk, and becoming a Christian doesn't make everything you feel go away, in fact it makes the pain even greater. In trials and in our struggles, this is where God hasn't been glorified and we need to turn to scripture and pray because God is good. And yes, there is a lot of pain in this world, but greatness is coming, and Jesus is returning for us. This is just a pitstop in our walk with our Lord. Thank you for sharing your wisdom with us again and again - keep the inspiration coming!! :)

I actually broke up with someone I hold very dear to my heart... Technically it was before the New Year. She's over and done with the relationship while I still ponder over this. I did my very best please her and love her and I feel that it was all for naught. I honestly can't let go and I feel this overwhelming pain in my chest and head. It makes me want to die. This really helps me today. I have been struggling and praying and feeling overwhelmed. I truly felt that this video helped me realize what I need to do. Like you all said, I just need to take it day by day and not overwhelm my self with the burden of why I'm not over this person. I have to keep reminding myself that God is for me and not against me and I constantly repeat that over and over just to get it stuck in my head. My only relationship lasted, off and on, for a period of 13 years. If you added all the time up that we spent together across that span, it would be just over a year. Regardless, I collapsed every time we broke up, until the last time in 2014 when she became completely indifferent. I tried reaching back out to her last March when my Mom died, but there was absolute silence. Now, my heart feels so trapped in grief, bitterness, rage, and hate. I cry out to God every day, and the pattern I've fallen into feels like an emotional and spiritual "broken record". Please pray for me; I'm desperate to be free from this chaos, and have a Godly wife someday.

Jeff, when I first saw that you had published this video I was avoiding it because for some reason I was just really afraid to hear what it entailed. My girl friend and I have been dating since my freshman year in college, all the way up until now, and though I was the one to end the relationship, it has been hard for me to hold it together. I felt as though I had to numb myself, or hold it all in, but then I saw this video and I immediately shared it with her, after I left my state of awe. This has been hard because I really do love my now ex-girlfriend, and hopefully God brings us back together like you and Alyssa! Jeff, you have been such an inspiration to me, and you let me know that God isn't a tyrant looking to control me, but a God that is looking to be intimate with me, and can empathize with me. I was not perfect in that relationship with my ex, and I haven't lived this life of "Christian Perfection" (if that even exists) that some parts of Christianity can sometimes display, but you let me know that God isn't looking for that at all, but rather he's looking for me to be who he created, and is still refining. I feel supported, content, when I watch your videos. I have thought about my faith differently, and my relationships as well. Thank you so much, and continue to touch people, as I know you truly have a gift.

I just had the most peaceful breakup, I didn't want to feel any pain and i wanted to just forget everything and drown myself in negativity, like i deserved it or something. I opened up to her again, told her how i felt, and reaffirmed the reasons why we were breaking up. Opening up and just accepting the pain, and to look at it as a learning opportunity. Thank you, the video was such a blessing, sometimes as Christians we feel like we are expected (well at least I do at times) to be strong and move forward, but I love how Alyssa said that we should give ourselves time to grief, and that it's okay to be sad and angry. Jeff and Alyssa you guys are so helpful. While I'm not currently going through a breakup, I still had to deal with some pain when I cut things off completely with a guy I liked because he wasn't a believer. You're other dating & relationships videos helped me with that. But I still felt some pain but I am completely resting in the Lord and waiting for my future husband....whoever he is. I'm not ready for a relationship right now but I know that God will put someone in my path when I'm ready. I recently got out of an unhealthy relationship and it's been a few months and I still feel like I'm in the mourning period. Even though I've recently been getting through the days with a genuine smile on my face, I sometimes find myself randomly bursting into tears and that's really discouraging when you believe that you've been making progress. I was scared to confide in my mom or friends because I didn't want to constantly bring up my ex. This is so good. I’ve been watching a lot of your videos on relationships as my boyfriend and I have been trying to figure out if we need to breakup for a time because like you’ve said we are both good for each other but we may not be the best for each other. Being vulnerable is both the greatest and scariest feeling.

When Alyssa said how she thought she had to be a strong person was when I broke down in tears. I was the person that ended it so I feel the need to have everything under control and no feelings attached because it was my decision but for some reason it is hurting me to lose not only a person I cared for but a very good friend as well.

Blessed with this Video. Seeing this has refreshed the peace God gave me while I was struggling through my breakup. We broke up after 4 years and that was 4 years ago. I know that was a very long time to be heartbroken. But everytime I tried to let go, he would come by and act as if we were still best friends. I was ok with us being friends only because I didn't want to seem mean. That in turn made me hopeful that we might get back together. Anyway, since last year I've been praying to God for his happiness and for my peace to move on. Early this year, I woke up one morning with no hurt or hate or feeling for him. It felt like nothing I have ever felt before. I prayed that I will wait for his timing but if He wants me to serve Him single I am His. I totally get it now. Definitely a lesson to learn. God wasn't at the center of my life. I got so distracted and consumed by hurt and disappointment from my ex husband I isolated myself from the only One who could heal me from my past. My journey with this particular new mate should have been me showing him Christ not drawing me further. I just learned how to be treated like a Queen by the new guy and I will always thank him for that, but we didn't have Christ. I wasnt even whole going into the relationship and that inevitably hurt us. I need time to grieve and be healed from God not isolate myself and draw further from Him. Thank you Bethkes!!!! This is ABSOLUTELY what I needed right now! My boyfriend and I broke up just over a week ago and are still in love but have decided that we need to be putting God first and not each other, it was completely mutual but still so, so heartbreaking. Thanks for these great tips!!
