I needed this because I haven’t seen my robo. I know she’s alive because her food keeps disappearing and I see footprints in her sand. But it does make me really nervous
Is she usually waking up earlier? Bc changing sleeping habits can mean something. But if she is just sleeping long, that's normal. My Syrian is never up before eleven pm, and sometimes I just need to sleep, and then I just don't see him.

I hadn't seen my hamster in 2 days, and thought he might've died. I lifted the roof of his little villa slightly, and he poked his head out of his bedroom area (which is closed off separately, so lifting the roof, doesn't lift that "ceiling") like "dude ..." and I left him alone again. Hours later, this video popped up, lol.
I have a hamster, but it's always good to know more ways of doing things, and for all those getting a hamster or even just wanting one it's always good to learn more about them and how to care for them.
I wish I had seen this two days ago, because that’s when I started to not see her. This morning I was really concerned and decided to gently dig through her burrows. She was completely stiff, and her heart wasn’t beating. It really hurts to see her go, I’ve been trying to stay strong but been crying all day, she was only 3.5 months old. RIP Kiwi, I miss you so much.

OMG only 3 & 1/2 mo old?! 😞 How sad?! Were you checking on her water bottle every day?! Making sure it was working properly, etc? Sometimes they are just born w/problems too, and we can't always tell there is something wrong. I'm sorry for your loss. 💔
I always panic every time I don’t see my little girl, I look for her every day, I usually turn her wheel so the letters (Woodent Wheel) are on the top of the wheel, if the letters are on either side or upside down I know she is ok... 😄
Just found this channel a few days ago and its heaven for me. I love hamsters but learned after years of having them as pets and being sick constantly that I was allergic to them. I didn't get a new one after the last passed. This channel gives me a hamster fix after nearly 10 years.💗😁
3 weeks ago my Robo Hamster, Krampus (named him and his brother Krampus and Kringle, Kringle passed after 1 year from what we suspect a medical abnormality, he had a hunchback) died suddenly at roughly 2.5 years old. He was so healthy and active, so it was a shock to me, he was showing little sign of old age. I knew something was wrong because I didn't hear him all day (I always could hear him digging and doing other things), found him dead in his nest. Miss him so much, he always was so excited to see me, let me hand feed him and even let me pet him. He was even trained to where I'd tap near his nest and he'd pop out and go to the play area to interact with me. Got another robo now, Ivy, she is still kind of skittish but is warming up slowly.
In my hamster case... well... usually hear him eating smth in his hideout or chewing on sticks... if not... Gotta check sandbath... "I see wet area! yeap he is allive". He also loves to eat while sitting on ventilation bars in his terrarium during night. Always leaving there whole bunch of seed shels. Smth around 30% goes down thru the bars so every morning on the cabinet and floor around I see signs of his night life XD His face when im cleaning it up... "Hey, you! Human! What you doing with my stuff?!"
Here is a method Spot clean the cage and 24 hours later go through the cage and if you see some soiled bedding then you at least know they are in the cage
My little robo is EXTREMELY nocturnal but with school I'm often up late doing homework anyway so I'm able to hear/see her. Sometimes she doesn't wake up at the normal time and that worries me but then she peeps her little head out as soon as I turn off the light and head to bed. :/
My dwarf hamster just died he looks like sulfur and i watched a video of yours with sulfur and i cried i just missed him so much 2 years and a half is to short.
One day I saw that my hamster hasn’t been out which was very weird because he normally comes out at the same time every day , so I tried the wheel method since I saw it on the internet and the next day I woke up to find my hamsters stuff wasn’t moved at all so I started to panic and I saw something in the corner of my eye and my hamster was running around my floor 😂 turns out he made a burrow in my draws and went in through a hole 🤣🤣 plz worry about ur hamsters and don’t let this happen to u
OMG that happened to me, but she made the hole ON THE LID!!! I woke up in the middle of the night hearing weird sound and oh my, that's when I learn how hard is to catch a roborowsky when they have a whole room to run around .

AMEN!!! I can’t stress how much I hate the industry advertising hamsters towards children. They are so far from being a pet for kids it’s unbelievable.
This reminds me of the time where my brother didn't know that hamsters loved to burrow so he got extremely scared that Beanz, my syrian hamster, had disappeared. So...the first action he took was to use the wooden ramp to dig up his bedding carefuly to try an find him to make sure he hadn't escaped. When he couldn't find him, he texted me while I was out shopping with my mom that he might've gotten out of his bin cage. So of course I panicked all the way back home and immediately found every single one of his cage accessories mixed up in the bedding like a tornado bad torn the place up. As soon as I opened that bin, there was one undisturbed corner in the opposing side of the bin cage, where he nested. He heard the jingling of his hanging wood chews and had the sleepiest look on his face and slowly came out. I bet he was hella confused and oblivious to what hadhappened while he peacefully slept. 💀 I was only gone for an hour when this happened.
My baby girl just died!! 😭 I am heartbroken, she had stopped coming out and I got curious, started digging her bedding, this all happened a few seconds ago! Found her dead body in her burrows next to her food storage, I am extremely clear of the moment my heart stopped to feel her body cold.. Prayers from my loss, she rests in heaven now.. 😭😞❤🙏
I remember when I hadn't seen my hamster for a few days. She was old and I decided to take of the roof and check. She didn't move like she would usually so I shook it slightly. No movement then I poked her and finally picked her up. She was cold and I remember that horrific feeling.
I stay up rlly late (like 12-2) and I still rarely see mine but I do know she is alive cause food is gone and I hear her at night but I still barely ever see her
My hamsters have a weird feeling of time. Muji always starts waking up at 6am with me as I made myself ready and goes to sleep once I'm gone. When I come back around 2pm he wakes up again just to get cuddles and attention 🤣 11pm is the time he works out on his wheel and stopped at midnight cause he knows we go to bed 🥰
Both times this has happened to me they'd actually died. 😭 My sweet dwarf hamsters Delilah & Annabelle. I knew as they'd not ate the food or used toilet.
Usually my first method if I want to know immediately is that luckily my hamster made his nest in a hide so I gently touch the hide to see if I can feel any heat.
I have a problem ... I think. I got a Syrian hamster for about a week, I inquired a lot before taking it and I knew that hamsters were nocturnal animals, this did not bother me since I am busy almost all day. The point is that the first few days at home he woke up around 10.30 and I could see him for a long time. As the days went by, he got worse and wakes up at 2.00 am ... then in the morning he hears the alarm and goes back to the den. So I can only see it one day a week if that's okay ... can I improve the situation somehow?🥲🥲 sorry for the bad english
I have two hamsters, one is perfectly healthy and will actually usually come out when he hears me enter the room. My other hamster is very sick right now and needs medicine/needs to be checked because feces keeps building up around his bottom. He’s now very skittish whenever I come into the room because he now associates it with me having to take him out. It sucks and I wish I didn’t have to basically traumatize him.
my dwarf is 2,5 yrs old and is a old senior. she moves with her paws against each other and often trips and shakes when she walks. Is it normal and a sign of old age?
My hamster always nibbles and then bites my finger. I wash them before and but them in the betting. I can pet her without any problem. But as soon as i put the hand in the cage hoping she climbs on it she tries to nibble and then bite my finger. Idk how i tried like 20x advices. She is not shy as i said i can pet her
The last time my hamster was quiet and I didn’t see them for a day our boy hamster turned out to be a girl and gave birth. Luckily 7 of the 8 babies are alive and doing great!
That's awesome, congrats. The same happened with my rabbit recently too, we were told he was definitely a 2 month old boy. Turned out she was an around 7 month old pregnant girl, the baby is 8 weeks old now and I love her ❤
I have an ip camera on my hams cage, it records movement. I check it every morning when I haven’t seen her. I watched the footage this morning, she never climbed back to her bed in the night. The worst had happened and I’m heart broken
This is soooo great, im always worried when i havent seen my baby for a day too, i usually tap around and crinkle the food bag to try to see if he will peek his head out.
My hamsters really sick..all day he stays in his little house,I have to "Forcefully" give him food and water otherwise he'll be de-hydrated and hungry,he can hardly walk...The vet scheduled our appointment in 2 weeks as she's really busy...Does anyone know a bit about this?Im really worried he wont make it..😢
I got my hamster exactly a month ago.. she is getting more used to me, but it’s time for her first cage clean. The problem is she’s a heavy sleeper so I can’t clean it-
I think 11 is fine as long as you have the full support of an adult since they will be the one who is financially responsible for everything like supplies and vet care. Make sure you have a very long and detailed talk with them about exactly what a hamsters needs, that they take up a lot of space and need very large enclosures (not the tiny ones pet shops sell), that they need lots of enrichment, that if they get sick the vet bills can get very expensive and make sure they're on board with all of this. If they aren't accepting of the cage size or monetary costs, please do not get a hamster, I have seen far too many cases of hamsters suffering because their owner is too young to provide for them and the parents/guardians refuse to help, and you don't want to be in that situation.
Hi Erin! i need some help, i took my male syrian hanster out yesterday and saw that he lost a big chunk of fur on the left side of his lower back. Unfortunately i cant take my hamster to the vets because they only accept emergencies. If anybody has any idea, if it could be a fungal infection, lack of nutrients, old age?( he is around 15-16 months though) etc. if anybody has any idea what i could do please let me know
@@negan1445 Im not sure but thankyou hes much better now pretty sure it was becayse of his wheel, it used to be an 8" wooden wheel and his side kept rubbing on the back, hes now happily running in a 13" plastic wheel for a couple of days now
This happened to me before, and it turns out my little boy actually passed away. He only lasted a month, he died most likely of bad genetics. Still heartbreaking
Have you got a deep enough bedding? How long has the Hamster been in the cage? Do they have enough chew toys made out of different materials? Do they have climbing toys or platforms? Hamsters are not good climbers but some enjoy getting up high to lookout.
For my hamster we had a very easy solution... Cheese! He would be already by the cage door before I leave the kitchen 😂 (sharp very smelly cheese, we only gave him the tiniest bit)
If i didnt have a security camera on our new hamster we would have no idea there is a hamster it sleeps from 6am to 11pm all 4 days we've had it so far.
After years of having rats and hamsters amongst other animals, I just couldn’t go through the death cycle anymore. They don’t live long, it’s just too upsetting.
My hamster is such a little rat! He refuses to use his wheel (I've been told it's because he has a large cage? But his cage is only 750 square inches of floorspace. Aside from that, he gives me a heart attack at least 3 times a week. But im also a very overreactive person who tends to think the worst :,) luckily, he has been taking his blueberries and sunflower seeds from beside his water bowl. Even if hes a rat i still love him to death though

My hampster asparagus is the laziest hampster ever Like even at night he pops up and just sits in one spot eating, stares at me while I sleep, and then goes back to sleep at round 4-6 am Then throughout the day he just sleeps and *sometimes* messes with some stuff
How can I wake my hamster up to clean their cage? I’ve put off a full clean for a day because I haven’t heard him out, and I feel bad waking him up to just stress him out more by changing the bedding.
@@davie8497 I’m glad I’m not the only one. ☺️ I caved in and woke him up as slow as I could. He sleeps in a tube so I started talking to him then moved the tube a little offering a gerber puff as he came out.

I left my hamster as I thought she was sleeping (she had a certain sleep schedule which was cool) then we looked and she did pass 😢😢😢😢RIP Shelby. Then sanatised the cage and everything I watched lots of videos on how to properly clean a hamster cage and got my hamster griffin 3 weeks later the same thing happend is there something I did?
I’m a little late but- I hadn’t seen my hamster in a while, Pumpkin only takes what he needs out of his food bowl so I couldn’t check with that method . I started to panic when I realised that His wheel hadn’t move and His sand bath wasn’t disturbed, So I ruffled the bedding and he pocked his head out ( This was two Am and I had been awake all night waiting for him) but then I just left him alone.... four hours later he woke me up at six running round the wheel. I used to have a hamster called Eli Pikachu Dedene fluffy pants (me and my brother could not decide on a name) but a while a go ,2018 I invited my friend over and she left his cage open. He went missing . Then my Dad would not get me a new hamster because the kept going missing. A hamster I has before that was called Humphrey and was a girl but let’s ignore the fact that Humphrey is a boys name. He escaped and tunnelled down the toilet so my dad had to dig up the toilet . There was still tunnels but she wasn’t there. In the end my dad had to drill a hole in the floorboards to rescue her
99% of the time it happens, the hamster is probably fine. - so true! I just got my robo, and I've been so worried about where he is if I havent seen him all day. So what I've started to do, is turn off all of the lights, and lay down in bed for a bit, until I hear him coming out and just try to check. I try to take a picture of him if I can to check his nails and stuff, and of course placing his favorite food near his hideouts. He usually comes out immediately after a meal worm is put in his enclosure.
My dwarf hamster's food bowl still has the same amount of food. I get worried and I make kissing noises or call her name. She comes out and I feel relieved she is alive. I feel bad waking her. I will do the other things u have mentioned. Thanks.
I wish I had known these tricks in the past. Very good ideas, indeed. One thing I have done is switch to transparent (but tinted/colored) plastic nests. If I haven't seen my hamster for a day, I open the cage while talking softly and just set a treat about 6 inches from the front of his nest, and then scratch softly on one of the wooden toys in the cage. I can see my hamster just move ever so slightly, and I then close the cage. He goes right back to sleep, or better yet, comes out and grabs the treat and goes back to sleep. .
This video popped in my head two days before my hamster died. I noticed she didn’t come out hee jornal time and got suspicious when I checked her Niteangel runner tracker (highly recommend this device as it tracks how much your hamster runs every night and is less than £20) and saw she hadn’t run on her wheel AT ALL so I left her fave treats out which she never not eats and the next day they were still there so I panicked and searched for her and she was in a very bad state. Covered in shit and barely moving. Took her to the vet and at first it was diagnosed as wet tail but turned out worse. After getting antibiotics the next day her foot had turned black and I went to the vet again and it turned out she had an aggressive lump near her back leg which hadn’t been there two days ago (I do a health check where I feel for lumps at least once a week) was cutting off the circulation to her foot and causing the diarria which vet had assumed was wet tail. She had to be put to sleep as the lump was growing fast and the new vet determined it was cancerous (she was nearly 2yrs old so not a big surprise) Always recommend keeping an eye on your hamsters routine and using a pet cam if you have to leave them alone for 24hrs since their health can’t deteriorate very quickly

When i first got my hamster i was so convinced he escaped i shoved my hand into the bedding under his hide assuming he wasn't there 😮. He was and some how he had been asleep right up until my fingers poked him. The poor thing was so terrified and startled. 😳 he's never burrowed that deep again and i can't help but think it's my fault for scaring him. 😢
Hello, I also live in Cyprus and am now struggling to find sand for my hamster since all the early learning centres have closed. What brand of sand do you currently use for your hamsters? 😊
I'm just reusing the same sand I had left in my bag of ELC sand from before the lockdown, sieving out the dirt and baking it in the oven at 100C for 20 minutes. You can also rinse the sand with water if you're careful not to lose any down the drain.
I haven't seen my hamster for OVER A FUCKING MONTH. I don't want to rip my cage apart only to destroy the landscape I create and probably still won't find it because there are just too many places to hide... I can only know it's alive through the hustling sound at night and the food reducing. I provide big cage and sophisticated enrichment for it to be happy but now I feel like I don't have hamster at all and am still lonely af.😢
Do you have any recommended cages because people tell me the cage I'm using is to small and I want to get a new one but I don't know which ones are the right size (also I would like it to be able to fit a sand bath)
My Russian Dwarf will travel around under her burrow during the day. I can see the bedding moving along. I do stay up to see her but she wakes up around 10pm.
