If she has one egg stuck then one question I have is...does she continue to develop more and more inside...to pass bing bing bing after the stuck one comes out? Also is this the poop hole too making the chicken constipated? Third question is if there would ever be cause for making a small nick in her vent to widen the hole? A little chicken episiotomy. Do they need a break from laying eggs after this?
I really wanted to watch this video. But the little birds chirping were just SO loud. I wish you would do the video's in a different room. It's too hard to hear your voices without it becoming a little nerve wracking. Otherwise, good video.
I found video very helpful but I had to watch it 3 times to understand, couldn’t hear 👂🏻 it right. I am sure if you make another video about the same subject people would understand it better and not give you a hard time about terrible audio

Oh btw. The warm water causes vasodilation and the calcium causes the smooth muscles to contract. I will be caring for chickens soon. My question is how often should I give calcium to my chickens??
Update to my comment. The vet said that eggs will not break inside the bird. What do you do if the egg already bust burst inside? I have antibiotics going in her tomorrow. Hopefully not too late. Will be 3rd day. I just learned what it could be by scooping the internet for info. I will do bath anyway and calcium if this is the problem, I hope my Goldie gets well asap.
I am new to chicken keeping and have 4 girls that my son hatched at school and brought home for me to have. They have been laying eggs for a couple of weeks but most days there have only been 3 eggs. Today I noticed one whose tail was down and she looked sad. I had some Epsom salts and bathed her for 20 mins, but I didn't have any calcium tablets. I will get those tomorrow. Can you tell me what you mean by a second lay cycle please.
Could you feel the egg if it is soft shell? I know they are harder to pass ..The calcium gives the muscle strength for the contractions as she has been using it up and the epsom salts in the water is the reverse will have the magnesium to relax the rest of the body. Olive oil or lubricant can help inside the vent
It’s all good to care for your animals, but don’t bring you troubles into your home! I don’t care how well sealed your wooden countertop is, it’s still a place where you prepare or eat food and you have a chicken on it which may or may not be egg-bound, but could also have another sickly problem. Always keep food prep and interior home areas free of dangerous pathogens by containing the dangers to your health. Set up outside or in a shed to treat any conditions of your animals or flock. My barred rock pepper is having the same issue. We gave her an epsom salt bath and two calcium tablets but she hasn’t passed the egg yet. She is walking with her tail down and is very lethargic. Is there anything else we can do to save her?
My hen is experiencing the symptoms for eggbound but you said they could die 28-48 but it's been a little over 4 days. She is experiencing diareah and her butt cra** is open. She also has this big lump near her butt and there is an area where it's really red. She also waddles when she walks and she walks slow. It would be really really helpful if you could please reply by telling me if these are the symptoms for eggbound hens and if not could you tell me what's wrong? (Please answer I love my hens they are my pets and I don't want her to pass away so I need to take action)
Thanks for the awesome vid. I have 2 red sexlinks that I bought at 2 days old on Valentine’s Day 2018. Raised them in my apt. For 6 weeks then transitioned them to my dads backyard. Here’s the thing I didn’t buy them for the eggs, I bought them for pets.they lay a lot of eggs, like one a day everyday. I don’t care about the eggs, I don’t ever want them to go through this. Is there a way I can sterilize them so they don’t lay anymore?
Dont buy chickens for pets. They will lay eggs, that's their natural thing to do. Buy a dog if you dont want eggs or give them to someone who will benefit from them!!
I’ve had animals behave this way too. It’s almost like they know it helps and welcome it. I had a chicken who would eat the pills out of my hand. No struggle.
