Today I share on how I've grown (and am still growing) when hope is deferred. We all know the scripture... Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a desire fulfilled is a tree of life. Proverbs 13:12. But what do you do, when you're still in the first part of that verse. I'm sharing 2 very practical things that have helped me keep plodding along and trusting in the Lord. He sees the full picture, I don't not. I don't want to look back and think I wish I had been more present in that waiting season. May the Lord have His way in our life, in every season and circumstance. He is faithful and worthy of all our trust, even when we don't understand. May God bless you.

I love hiking too! I've also been being reminded by the Lord that when things don't quit go the way you think they should be, his outcome has been so much better than what I thought I wanted it. God is so gracious, loving, kind, gentle, patient with me. Even in difficult times I've seen him turn it into such a blessing for my husband & I. I love God so much!!!❤❤

This message really touched on some other things the Lord has been showing me lately. I was infertile for 20 years- my journey ending 2years ago with a full hysterectomy. I spent SO much time waiting, and thinking that when I have children, then I'll be blessed. Lately, I've been learning and seeing how I wasted so much of that time. I don't want to get too entrenched in that thought though- His best for me is to look at this moment, thank Him, praise Him, and move forward.

Wow, this is such a stunning video! And turtles and butterflies (swallowtails are so special!) are ways God speaks to me--shows me love! You definitely didn't need to explain why you were showing the turtle for so long--he's adorable! And it's so beautiful how the Lord perfectly timed things so you'd have a swallowtail at the end of filming for this video--a beautiful desire fulfilled. God bless you and Scott!

@@homewithkelli Hi sister Kelli! I want to share a quick little story about the sweetness of the Lord! So watching this swallowtail video of yours provoked me to swallowtail envy! I realized I hadn't seen one in a long time (they are in my area but are not super common). I can't remember if I explicitly prayed in my mind to the Lord about this but I know for sure He heard my thoughts because the next day (last Wed) I was sitting in my car getting ready to head out and a huge yellow swallowtail flew right across my line of sight. Praise the Lord!

Praying for contentment is the hardest thing in life, but it is so rewarding when we set our heart on the desires God has for us. I often pair the "hope deferred" verse with Job. We are fortunate to have the curtain held back and can see what God did, however, Job sat and waited, just like Sarah, Rachel, Hannah and Elizabeth and even David and Joseph. I pray for you often dear sister in Christ. I love your videos and look forward to what you have to share and how God is working and how you see Him in your day to day. I’ve felt similarly while hiking before. There are sometimes “false summits” on mountains where it looks like it’s the top from underneath but when you get there, it’s still not the top. That happened to my husband and me a couple times. Trail blazing is also exhausting but the nature you encounter is so special! What an awesome waterfall y’all found! God’s creation is so wonderful!

I think that was exactly what was happening! We kept thinking, we see the top, and the further up with got the steeper it got, and no top! So fun that you guys also go on adventurous hikes. And it's funny, I've never thought of it as trail blazing, but that's exactly what it is, and I think why there was so much beauty!!

A wonderful moedim! Appointed times are so important. Far too often I am too task oriented, performance driven. I think of Lazarus outside the rich man’s gates. He never had a good day, he never accomplished what we would call a triumphant life, but he sat in Abraham’s bosom. His reward was paradise because clearly his hope was not deferred. How many of us would hold onto hope in the face of abject poverty? The rich man left his gates often, but did he take poor Lazarus into his home and care for him? His attitude was so selfish he thought Abraham would order him to wait on him whilst in the torments of Sheol. Thanks for the reminder.

What a coincidence! I just decided to be grateful for my life from now on. I waisted so much time being discontent. There was always something to be anxious about: Oh, if I only had friends … Oh, if I only do well on the exam … Oh, if only high school was behind me… Oh, if only I had a job … Oh, if I only didn’t have financial worries … Oh, if I could only find a husband … Oh, if I only had children … Now, thank the Lord, I have all that and I still spend my days being discontent! I found watching the turtle and the caterpillars fascinating. I’m glad you shared how you came to collecting the caterpillars. I imagine that many who see the release of the butterfly will find joy in your efforts too. With the little turtle I kept thinking it seems unbothered. It’s content to just hang out on your hand moving slowly as if it had no care in the world. I know nothing about turtles but are they a normal thing for your area? Is it because of the stream you have on the property. I’m fascinated by seeing it in your garden! Being content takes faith and a daily commitment to stay focused on practicing contentment. A beautiful reminder to do just that today as I head out to do some harvesting and weeding. It’s not easy to be content in a sea of weeds but today my focus will be on what is revealed as the weeds are removed. You are a sweet blessing. God Bless You Kelli.

I agree, they are both soo interesting! I found myself just sitting watching the caterpillars many times throughout the day and now it's fun to see them become butterflies- God's work is so amazing!! We do have quite a bit of turtles around us, we see them every summer, I've never connected it to our stream but that is true! I hope you have a wonderful day in the garden!

Matthew 18:2-5 "And he said: "I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. "And whoever welcomes a little child like this in my name welcomes me." We are to look upon the world with wonder & amazement & one can only do that if you slow down & open your eyes! Be childlike! As kids In CNY, we used to do this with Monarchs every summer. What joy it brought. We have these shield beetles that pierce the poor caterpillars & eat them inside out. That tent is a great idea! Might employ it. i LOVE doing things like this. Running an incubator is similar - hope instilled in life! I 'hang out' in my barn leaning over cattle panels just watching my hogs-they play & have interesting natures, or I hang out in my chicken coop & watch chicken life. I go on walks & look for birds' nests & watch progress with their eggs. I go to our creek, flip over rocks & find crayfish. My kids roll their eyes as I come back with my 'Creek Report' everyday. I hope it is something they remember, with a laugh, when I am gone someday. I make a habit of being on the lookout for small miracles, I don't just go thru life blind. When I am playing with my neighbor's little boy, we get right down on the ground & watch the worms or look at seedlings. I am the only person that I know that lives like this (in my circle) & when I try to explain it they don't really get it. It is sort of like I am being childish - but they sure don't mind trying to tell you all the particulars of things seen on Facebook or tv characters' lives. lol. & i don't act 'childish' or hippy dippy at ALL. I am actually a very serious & proper lady/person. But I am serious about enjoying God's creation. He is an awesome creator down to the minute details!!! Slow down folks, we don't get a gold star for rushing thru life. We are all headed in the same direction, so you might as well make it worth it & also be showing God your gratitude for all the amazing things he made for our wonder.

Another one just hatched this morning and I looked it up and it's an Eastern Black Swallowtail, I didn't know there were different Swallowtails!

Oh yes, this was many months ago and thankfully, it literally became loose right in front of me and basically just rolled off my back. It was a good warning though that it's time to turn around!
