This is not okay for boys. If a boy isn't bad at something physical he has to decide if he wants to get good at that or not care about it in lieu of something else. The toxicity of a young man saying "Well, I'm not going to go the olympics, so I don't care!" about a physical feat is insane. You're literally saying "If you aren't good enough, don't try. That will stop those bullies." You are a terrible mother to young men.
