Queily Yenner Yes they do! I use them between raised beds under the bricks and no weeds or grass. I also put them down under new raised beds to stop the weeds from coming through our compost.

I use mine in the coop incase 1 of the tarps gets a tear. I just slide it between the hog wire, and the tarp to keep the rain or wind out. Also to store the hay bale twine so I can reuse it to tie up plants. Making grow bags is a great idea.

GENIUS! Because our soil in my garden is so poor, my most successful produce was grown in old cement bags filled with 100% compost. Every once in a while, the dog food we buy will come in the plastic bag. Looks like I won’t be throwing them away anymore!

So, is there a video showing us the results of the potato harvest?
@donh3060
@donh3060 9 месяцев назад
Will the toxic ink from the bags eventually leach into the soil, therefore the plant becomes toxic and you eat toxic food? Not sure if this would happen but if it does, doesn't sound like a great idea. The concept is fantastic, as long as we don't ingest toxic chemicals into our body.

Potatoes overwinter very well in the soil outdoor and they can tolerate a high level of nitrogen. So leave 10% potatoes in the soil after you harvest them, then dump a layer of wheat straw on the top and then another layer of horse manure. Let the rain does it job. Your potatoes will sprout automatically in spring time very quickly cause they have already rooted thoroughly in late fall. You method is good for city dwellers though. :)

I was using mine for taking in my recyclables but now I've been saving them and want to use them for grow bags. Here's my question, how long would say it takes from start to finish to get good sized potatoes? I grew some a couple years ago but I had them out in the sun and after 6 months, the potatoes were small. I thought the green tops needed sun.

Would love to know how this turned out. I just made a planting bag from a feed bag, but I did a lot fancier version with the sewing machine. So you did cut drainage holes. I was wondering if that was necessary.

It was an unconventional method, I think, but it seemed to work just fine. I mean, just think how many ways there are to tie shoes - no wrong way, if they do the job, right? At least he wasn't running with them! 😆
