I had surgery to correct my deviated septum in 2016, along with a tonsillectomy and shortening of the uvula all at the same time. As a result, my quality of life completely changed for the better, especially my sleep quality and improved mental sharpness due to better sleep. Recovery takes a little time and people need to be patience. It doesnt heal overnight or in a week. Again, be patient regarding your recovery. You will get there. It will be 7 years on August 10th and every day, a thought goes through my head just how blessed I am that I made this decision.
Today is Saturday, July 29th. I had right sphenoid surgery on Tuesday, July 25 - four days ago. No prescription pain meds are being taken, only Tylenol. My nose is a faucet and I feel like I have the flu - achy and weak. I’m glad I had a good supply of Kleenex on hand as this is more than the drip pads I was given could ever absorb. I’m using a saline spray several times each day and wiping large amounts of fluid from my nose continually. The worst part is the burning/tickling in my right nostril and sneezing every ten to fifteen minutes. It’s painful despite keeping my mouth open and trying to be gentle. My surgeon’s office says it’s a histamine reaction. I have no congestion or blockage and haven’t been able to find further information on whether this is expected or unusual.
Wow, how much time has passed since surgery that you are not consumed and obsessed with how painful that recovery had to have been. From my research at least I don’t see how it could not have been tortuous. With my PTSD ( medical trauma) I would never recover mentally from that kind of medically inflicted pain; since I take it personally. My saying is always that it is 2024 and not 1824, so there is no reason to allow severe pain to go completely unchecked. Anyway,I’m glad you are well. Cheers
Im so sick of the old infectious mucus and scabs and clots and the smelly feeling through out its been 13days since i got my surgery and im using saline cleanse on a daily basis i hope we all recover nicely from the surgery 💗
Had a septoplasty done about 5 days ago. Starting to have small opening to breathe thru the nose but very small. Still very congested. Thanks for the video!
Hi Doctor so glad you said healing can take six weeks am on day 11 post op septoplasty & still feel congested was starting to worry about the procedure failing
Im on day 6 post op. I had to remove my splints on day 4 or 5 because of my panic attacks. I have been very congested ever since. Anyone else going through congestion after removing the splints?
Thanks for this. Three days pot surgery I was wondering my my nose is runny all the time and congested, so it's drainage, thanks for explaining this. I am fortunate my nose only bled on the day if surgery but clear fluid is now constantly discharging, pretty much as it used to prior to surgery.
I’m 11 days post op and can breathe through my nose ok just very dry scabs and mucus inside .The problem with me is I can’t sleep properly still I wake up every few hours then sleep wake up again I never had this issue before I had surgery .I hope it’s not insomnia anyone else have this issue ?
I had septoplasty, turbinoplasty and endoscopy sinus surgery 15 days back. Still i am having headache and ear pain. Is it normal? In how many days i will get rid of this pain?
2 1/2 weeks out and seeing this video has got me somewhat optimistic, clear (not congested) most of the time except when I lay down for bed (even reclining) and then I'm completely "blocked-up" both sides 😡, Up and moving I stay clear 90% of the time and I have been using a Navage for nasal irrigation (2X a day) and the bloody healing tissue is being flushed, just thought I'd be clearer by now, am I just being impatient ???? and I really need/want some decent sleep🙏
Hello doctor , i'm 2 days post surgery and afraid to put pressure with the saline rinse since i feel there is a sort of something stopping the saline from getting to the other side
@@BlackEswadeh but I still have the two plastic support in my nose and my left ear is so pressured. Worst of all after my wash my nasal is filled with the saline rinse
@@kauaireed9006 hi , nothing much , im still getting my nose blocked i just learnt to live with it and not overthink it . Eventhough doctor said the last checkup i needed an extra lil surgery to remove a lil bony structure in my left nose to make it even better but i just forgot about it
I just had my suregry last week. My septoplasty and all my sinus cativities touch. I faithfully use my medi bottle and saline but my head still aches and my nose is so dry. I also have antibiotic ointment i use twice daily. I finally go me a post surgery set bia amazon. I am now looking to add a humidifier.
The swelling and congestions are absolutely infuriating, right now I'm breathing far worse than I was before surgery. I am currently on my full second day without nose dressing (plugged nose) and the swelling / congestion are absolutely horrible right now. I had my surgery last wednesday and my nose dressing was removed last friday. It's still so congested that even washing my nose out with luke warm salt water has little to no effect. I'm starting to think this might be the worst decision of my life currently. I am going to call the hospital tomorrow to see if this is part of the natural healing process since it is driving me insane. i expected at least some air going through easily but not even that has been granted for me.
I am on day 3 also, although I didn’t have any packing in my nose, just started to use saline spray today and feel much better for it, although I am so tired 🥱 how are you feeling now?
How are you now? I am also still feeling congested because of the thick yellow mucus sticking deep inside. Saline wash has no effect on me too. I on my day 10. I told my ENT doc that I am making 2 trips per week to suction out the mucus clotting inside.
it is 23rd day of my nasal polyps removal surgery, and i have crazy pain on my lift side of the ear . and feel complete numbness on the same side, half throat, uper lift side teeth. dont know the pain is increasing day by day
I had a septoplasty turbinoplasty and sinus endoscopy done last week Tuesday... Still swollen and highly congested... I have a lot of fluid build up... Bleeding has stopped... Hope I recover soon... Breathing through my mouth is tedious... Sending love and healing to everyone here😊
I’m the same I got my stints removed I’m one week post op now I’m getting worried because I thought when stints remove you can breathe the best you ever have before surgery for me I didn’t feel that and when I hear other people say there more than one week with still only nostril that scares me
Anyone here had trouble sleeping after sinus surgery? I've been having severe sleeping trouble 4th day after surgery (FESS, septoplasty and turbinoplasty) I am feeling very sleepy, as soon as I get from one state of sleep to the other my body is getting an intense jerk accompanied by a sinking feeling. I am very frustrated , exhausted and feeling defeated after an intense 18 months of long covid , I was hoping for things to get better after surgery and now I have this illness that I have no clue what it is or how to fix it. Side effect of general anesthetic? Side effect of taking tramadol? I was fine first 4 days and this started after tramadol. Are these hypnic jerks? The more I look it up, the negative content AI keeps presenting me is just taking ne to a very dark place. If someone has a similar experience, i would really appreciate some advice.
An update, it's been a bit of a rough ride but largely it's related to post operative anxiety. Mt wife's been doing yoga, and exercising and the more she's off the phone , not reading native articles and participating in Facebook groups discussing about the problems the more she's better. We went for a 12 day trip over Xmas, new years with a few friends and the whole break was great, she didn't feel any symptoms or discussed it. Instead of from feeling depressed, blaming the surgery and the symptoms all the time. Now that we have been back a few weeks some days when she's feeling a bit anxious, is alone all of these feelings and symptoms return. I am hoping this goes away with time🤞🤞
I have "paranasal sinus disease " as spotted by an MRI recently done. Is this something serious? I have not seen a doctor about it yet and with a google search it says cancer.
hey great question. the surgery should not affect the eyes significantly there is some irritation that is common after surgery --conjunctivitis major complications would include violation of the orbit with swelling around the eye--very uncommon. There have been reports of blindness, however these were in the early stages on endoscopic surgery in the 1990's
@@theentminute5159 thank you for the reply. I had FESS,septoplasty & turbinate reduction on December 28. I'm noticing some differences in my breathing but my nose is still stuffy at times and I'm still fatigued most days..
