@@Women_of_God09 Congrats on getting accepted into UT! The school has a few Christian organizations on campus. The three I know of are: Cru, FCA, Catholic Student Union, and Bridges. All of them are structured differently. Cru has a Spanish speaking community that often hangout together which is really cool! I was part of Cru all four years of college and I LOVED it! The film program here is good so I’ve heard! There’s a film fraternity that some of the film students have joined and I’ve heard they enjoy it. I’m not super familiar with the film department. Thanks for commenting Lily!!

Hey hey Hannah!! Congrats on your commitment! Aww thank you! I’m glad this video made you excited! Sooo, I’m not really sure! There are a lot of freshman housing on campus, but I’d imagine that if you already have a roommate you want, they’ll just put you in a double. Housing as a freshman is randomly selected based on your survey and if you have a roommate, so there’s no guarantee really where you’ll end up. If you’re in the honors program, however, you’ll likely be put in McKay Hall which only has doubles. Hold this helps!

Hey hey Emily!! Congratulations!! That’s so exciting! So, I’m not really sure if you can request a triple, however, if you can, the only housing on campus that offers a triple room is Austin Hall. Not a lot of people prefer to live in Austin because of the triples, but, if you have good roommates, it shouldn’t be bad!! Hope this helps!

Yes for sure! I felt that! My parents were worried the most about the distance. I was too because I didn’t know how I’d get all my stuff to and from home and school, but honestly, it worked out really well!!

It definitely dominates the social life at UT. But, it’s not the only way to get involved on campus. My previous roommates are in one and they love it. My fiancée was in a sorority when she was at UT and she loved it.

Hey Jared, it's me again! I decided to commit to UT, thank you so much for your advice and videos! I'm scared I'm going to get housed in the Boathouse though since I am submitting so late. Do you know how they choose which 17 students live in the Boathouse?
Ahh that’s so exciting Ella Miley!! Congratulations!! As far as I know, I think the boathouse is for a specific community of people, like a “live well” community that wants to be away from alcohol/substances, but I could be wrong. If I’m remembering correctly, that’s how it works. If you were to get the Boathouse though, the school offers room swaps towards the beginning of the semester so if you find an open room in another dorm once they open the room swap, you can change!
hey last semester was my first semester at ut as a transfer student. im going to be a sophomore and i found it difficult to meet people outside of the party scene (especially with covid), do you have any tips on meeting people with similar interests? im a design major and am into movies, books, and art!
Hey AnnMarie! Thank you so much for reaching out! This is a REALLY good question and I appreciate your honesty! I was so nervous going into college about making friends. I am a Christian, so I knew that I wanted to surround myself with other Christians who were in love with Christ just as I am. So, I made the effort to find those organizations on campus. And I can tell you this, the community I got plugged into has been the best community I could have ever asked for. I am a member of the organization on campus called Cru. We meet every week, play games, discuss a passage in the Bible, and just grow together as people running the same race. Because of this organization, I found a local church to get plugged into as well, and the community at that church is SO amazing. At Cru, there are students of ALL kinds. There are dance majors, art majors, film majors, book lovers, science majors, sport lovers, and other students who are a part of this organization. And I can also say that the majority of the students that attend are also not into the party scene. I've made some of my CLOSEST friends within this org, and I even found my girlfriend in this group, who, was actually a part of a sorority, but loved Cru and loves Jesus. Sorry this is such a long response, but it is directly from my heart! Though a Christian organization is not the only place you can find friends and meet people outside of the party scene, this is just where I have found my greatest and most fulfilling friendships. Sorry again for the long response, but feel free to ask any other questions you have! 😊😊
The campus itself is safe! There are officers on golf carts driving around campus all the time. The city itself is pretty safe too. Like with most cities, be aware of your surroundings, don’t test common sense, always be on your guard, and be smart! Hope this helps!
I committed to UTampa like 2 months ago. How are the parties/bars in tampa. And is the cost of living expensive? I have heard you need to uber everywhere.
Hey Luke! Congrats! So, to be honest, I’m not really into the bars/party life here, but there are a lot of people who are! I’m pretty sure people love the bars here because there are A LOT of different options that you can choose to go to. Yes, you do have to Uber everywhere if you’re planning on going out to parties and bars every week, but a lot of people go in groups so a $40 Uber split 5 ways or so isn’t too too bad, you know? Besides that, the cost of living isn’t actually that bad. If you’re living on campus, the cost of living outside of college tuition and fees isn’t bad at all. I live on campus and only spend money if I’m going out to a restaurant with friends, if I need stuff from Walmart, or if I’m going to the beach. Plus, if you make friends with sophomores and older, they tend to have cars and you can just ride with them until you are able to bring a car to campus. Hope this helps!!
I know a little bit! I’ve been in the building where the film and animation majors have some of their classes. UT has a lot of technology for film/animation/new media.

Hey Melissa!! Yeah! So, during the middle of the spring semester, you select housing. Your housing selection time is based on how long you’ve lived on campus. The less time, the earlier you choose. If you’re a sophomore/junior soon to be junior/senior, your selection time is later and you’ll likely end up in the Hotel that the school has floors in. But, if you have friends who are going to be sophomores, your selection time will be based on their selection time (which is earlier), sooo you’ll usually get to live on-campus in whichever dorm you/they choose! Hey Caroline! They don’t have açaí bowls all the time, but they do serve them every month! They have yogurt, fruit, and granola hough all the time which is yummy too!!

Can you remind me what a ms student is? The university assigns dorms for first year students, but after your first year, you get to choose your housing. I think the best time to go to UT would be in the fall because that is when most people attend.
Okay so I actually don’t know a lot about Master’s students and housing for them. The information I just told you was for undergraduate students getting their bachelors, so I think the best thing to do would be to call Residence Life for more information! Hope this helps!
