This week, we are showing you what he ate for some days and how we prep it for him to eat. Sometimes, during the winter, we feed him more leafy greens than fruits, but we still want to have some fruit in his diet because he is a red-footed tortoise.
What he ate in the video:
Green Leaf Lettuce
Zucchini
Squash
Strawberries
Calcium (just a little bit)
Daytime Temp 75-80 F
Humidity is around 70-80% all-day

Das klingt nach einem tollen Video! 🐢 Es ist wirklich interessant zu sehen, wie ihr die Ernährung eures roten Fußschildkröten plant und vorbereitet. Is it normal for my red foot tortoise to be in his hiding spot all day? (I do give him soaks, feed him)

Yeah we think that's okay, Flippy stays in his corner a lot too. They like to be left alone usually anyway. Sometimes, we do try to put him under some heat so that he feels more active. Double check humidity and temperature. If the enclosure doesn't have the right temp and humidity, they might not be so active. Also...if it's winter, they won't move or eat a lot.

Tortoises should not walk on rugs, no matter how clean you keep them. They absorb everything from the rug and develop problems.

Thank you, may I ask, what have you heard of? I’m thinking that as I don’t use chemicals on the rug and we don’t spray pesticides outside and we don’t wear shoes inside that we should be in good shape?
