Do you use gmail email? Also did you do google searches to plan your trip or flight? if so Google owns all that including RU-vid and share information.
I like that you brought up the "eat and drink responsibly" thing because it also relates to one thing that I've observed at all inclusive hotels: people who put like three pounds of food on their plate, then eat two bites and then they're done. I feel like they're thinking "hey, I've paid for this I can take as much as I want" but I just don't get why you wouldn't just go back to the buffet for more if you're still hungry instead of getting a huge portion and then throwing it all away. It's not like they don't refill the buffet.
It’s not our job to subsidise people’s wages. For the most part we are normal people with regular incomes. We pay before we come to these places and expect to get what we pay for.
In a lot of countries tipping is either a no no, or simply unheard of. Know the local customs and practices before you go somewhere. That said, anywhere that 'mericans visit is going to be used to off and on tipping.
Liam that extra $75 you bring in dollar bills is really gonna put you over your budget huh? Not like you already paid thousands for your trip or anything? God forbid you tip people busting ass for your punk ass on his 'regular' people wage! Fun fact for ya: a lot of the employees at these resorts are Mayans and are treated as second class citizens, getting paid to the equivalent of 0.30 US cents. Tell me again about your 'regular' job income? If you cant afford another $75 in tipping money, stay the fuck home you heartless piece of shit and reflect on the fact you were lucky enough to be born somewhere that pays 'regular' wages.
If you want the server to haul ass over to your position every 5 minutes then you tip. If you want to hunt down drinks then don't. It is just that simple. I have been to Riviera Maya several times and it is usually Americans that tip.
I was at an all inclusive in Cancun last month at the Tucancun Barcelo Resort, loved it. I love all inclusives, stress free, and never have to worry about overspending!
The all inclusive Omni Cancun is spectacular!!! It’s a family oriented resort, but fun for all ages. The food and the service is the best we’ve ever had. So much so, that we became Omni VIP members!
I would love to get to mexico city. My dad worked in mexico for a couple decades and I got to go down with him and it was always a blast. I have a 5 love and hates of mexico in general coming out in a couple weeks (and cancun but the wind on it is horrible) so hopefully that can be a first step :) all the best to you! and thanks for watching and commenting. I love mexico! which I think on the 5 love and hates of mexico you will probably see :)
Not bad advise! I have visited Palace Resorts many times. A couple of notes, tipping - these people work extremely hard to make your vacation great. Tips are apreciated, please don't be an ugly tourist. Cost to buy things, I have found that thing in the store are slighly higher but not to bad. Airport transfers, they are included scheduled them early in your trip. Checkout, request a print out the day before you leave, that way you can address any issues withour the stress of trying to make you airport connection.
nice tips ...and on the chapter of beverages, ALWAYS ASK FOR THE LABEL...generic piña colada is like "use whatever tequila you can find" these places carry good quality brands and will use it if you ask
very true. that is one of the things in my 5 love and hates of all inclusives (that will be coming out once my new editing software arrives in a week or two, so stay tuned) thanks for watching and commenting!
Thank you for the great information! I can totally relate to the tip about being in bed naked and the maids coming in. It was about 9 am and we had only been sleeping for a few hours since coming in from partying at 5 am. Suddenly I hear a pound on the door and somebody yells out "HOUSEKEEPING!!!" in a high pitched voice! I yelled back "NO THANK YOU". Another knock and I say "WE HAVE ENOUGH TOWELS". A third time and I say "GO AWAY WE ARE DEAD TIRED!!!" After the third knock she busted in and there we are completely exposed. Next time I am bringing my own DO NOT DISTURB sign because apparently those are not included in the all inclusive package.
it was rather educational for me as I had never stayed at a full on everything is included all inclusive, I had been to some that were only partially and wow is there a difference
great advice, but I'm glad I have relatives in Playa del Carmen and that I speak Spanish. 5 days 4 nights $200. Hotel Dorymar on 30th street. less than half kilometer from beach. Located next to great local restaurants. This is a hotel for people who want to see sights not stick to a hotel. Close to Tulum ruins and parks Xcaret , Explore, and Xelha. about 60 pesos one way on a great bus ADO.
Loved Santa Maria Santuary at the Grand Memories...adults only with a butler...access to the Grand Memories and the Pariasso..will definitely be returning ..
I want to get back. I backed pack through quite a few years ago, stayed about 5 days and met some really nice people there. Would love to head back with the family. thanks for watching and commenting!
I am doing well. Lost about 50 videos from England, Spain, Portugal and China so a bit down about that... still dealing with the hardware and software issues hence no videos for a month or so. and no data :) but new software is on the way and hopefully I can save a few videos that were not completely destroyed. how are things in PA?
Generally speaking, all-inclusive resorts are the best way to go when vacationing in the Caribbean. One can easily spend $50-$75 for breakfast, $100+ for lunch, and $175+ for dinner (at nice restaurants - each day) for a family of a few persons. It gets frustrating really fast. We then tried the RIU all-inclusive in Cancun and fell in love with the all-inclusive vacation concept. We've since done other all-inclusives in the Caribbean and Mexico and been very satisfied. Just pick a reputable all-inclusive and you'll likely be very satisfied and not get frustrated that you have to shell out a few hundred dollars each day just to feed your family food and drinks.
To expand on what he said regarding alcoholic drinks. 1) Only the more expensive luxurious resorts provide top shelf liquor. The rest will provide well drinks. 2) Some hard core drinkers complain about watered down drinks. This never bothered me. This way I can drink all day without getting drink too early. You still get the flavor and they taste great though. 3) Glasses are smaller than usual. But again, I like this since I won't get drunk too early and can sample different kinds of drinks. If you bring your own larger glass, some places will put your drink in them though. 4) Beer drinkers will have a lack of choice. For example, some resorts may only serve Corona or some other Mexican beer they formed a contract with (Red Stripe in Jamaica).
I always leave a $20 tip the first meal and the word gets out that you’re a tipper, guaranteed great service for the rest of your stay. I usually leave a minimum of $10 for every meal and don’t forget to tip the maids as well. I’ve been to Mexico three times in the last year and it works like a charm every time! Cancun for the beaches but not a place I’d walk around and feel totally safe. Puerto Vallarta for the service and a safe place to walk around without anxiety.
Going to an all inclusive in June, and fully plan on tipping even though gratuities are included. Going with repeat visitors, and I'm assured $1-2 here and there will go a long way. To me, it's cheap insurance for better service.
One of the most important things to remember is to NEVER skip the meeting with your company guide/representative. Eg. If you booked through a charter company and they ask you to meet in the lobby at 9 am. Be there. My first trip we decided not to go and found out afterwards that there was a free bus into town and we walked both directions every day or payed for a cab. LOL
Very sound advice here, nice video thanks for sharing. I'm a recent convert to AI and simply love how relaxed a holiday can be when thinking about money and where to eat & drink are no longer factors. In fact, once checked in and familiarised with Ho the resort works, it's nearly possible to turn your brain off 😜
Great point about dress codes at restaurants. I was with a friend who was wearing a short sleeve button down and golf shorts but was told he had to go put on nicer footwear as he was wearing flip-flops
I am starting to be an experienced traveler going on 6 years in a row down south , dom/jam/cuba/ and I can tell you this is A lot of good advice first time and maybe few time traveler should listen to . good advice man !
brian fells thanks Brian! I need to switch my destinations to the south like you... way better weather than what I have been having traveling lately :) all the best fellow traveler!
cool. I thought it was definitely a very relaxing and fun experience. I have stayed at nice ones and not so nice ones and really, you get what you pay for. hope this video helped. I am uploading a 5 love and hates of all inclusives video later today (I am rendering the video as I type this)
Dress code.......bring pants. That brought back a memory. I used to go to Pt Antonio Jamaica a couple times a year. I had it down so pat I practically brought only 2 pair shorts, 2 t shirts, & one pair of shoes. One year, when I was looking for something unusual to do, I realized the court house was opposite the market just a couple blocks from my hotel. The first time I went, just before the judge was to come out and begin the session, the bailiff came and asked me to leave because shorts were not allowed in court. So three months later on my next trip I brought a pair of pants. And again, just as court was about to commence, the bailiff came and asked me to leave because blue jeans were not permitted in court......not even the clean, crisp, newer pair I was wearing. It took until my third trip that I was able to sit and observe a trial in a pair of dress pants & a dress shirt......which turned out to be quite interesting as their courts are very British.
The food is bland because you were at the Moon Palace, that's an ok resort but definitely not anywhere near the top of the locations in Cancun (I've been there and was not impressed at all). Some of the best meals I have had were at an all-inclusive. Zoetry in Cabo was amazing and we had an amazing 5 star dinner there, same with Paradisus Palma Real in Punta Cana, even Secrets The Vine, Maroma and even Silver Sands, it always depends on where you go. And always tip at all-inclusives, you'll be surprised at the higher level of service you receive, the wait staff and the bar will always accept tips, no matter where you are.
June is the best time to go. I stayed at the Condesa Americana all inclusive. it was beautiful never had trouble with anything. I did go on those 90 minute sales pitch just to get 1/2 on all the tours I wanted. it was worth it because tours are expensive. also make sure your bug and sunblock are biodegradable specially if your going in to cenotes.
yeah, I usually have a folder with the print outs in my backpack, I hate having it take up space but sometimes having the print out makes you feel a better more secure and will allow you to say "listen pal, here is my confirmation" :)
This was helpful.....I didn't realize the tip in some places are included already. I''ll def be careful to ask if it's included or not. If it's a tipping place I like to tip well.
they can be. I was going to take my family with me to the conference I went to but it was going to be an extra few hundred a day PER PERSON so I decided it would just be me at the conference. but yeah, prices can be sky high for all inclusives
So your are saying that I should do some research before and after spending thousands of dollars? Nice ramble and others should listen up. He speaks the truth.
Editing must be a breeze with this guy...very few cuts. I'll add one tip...book a shuttle to and from the airport before you arrive. Much better prices. The cost of a taxi from the Cancun airport to Riviera Maya area resorts will run $77 for up to 3 people.
I went to Cancun threw Sunquest tours.. when we got to the hotel it was supposed to be all inclusive drinks. the hotel ( GRAND OASIS SENS ) desk was saying no that is not true that drinks were not all inclusive. Sunquest had a representative there I had to go get her and she went to the desk... and poof suddenly drinks WERE FREE !! unlike 10 minutes before.. wow amazing.... yea be careful and if you use a company like Sunquest ask if they have a representative in the hotel your at.... Sunquest had one there from 8 am till 1 pm every day. And a lot of hotels don't allow alcohol or food from outside sources in your room. we were out and bought a submarine sandwich and only ate 1/2 stuck the other 1/2 in our hotel room fridge. The security guy came checked our fridge saw the 1/2 sandwich and talked to us like we just killed someone ... so yea weird..the hotel on google maps .. www.google.ca/maps/place/GRAND+OASIS+SENS/@21.0538862,-86.781999,194m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m5!3m4!1s0x0:0x8664d975f39b6633!8m2!3d21.0539366!4d-86.7819279
worst part I find about all inc. ( been to over 200) is that the first day people drink way too much. then next couple days are pretty much wasted trying to recover - take it easy and enjoy it!!
That is very nice tips. And yes I was there, we really need to really be careful with money. I have some tips in my videos as well. Otherwise Cancun is an amazing place to visit!
This is a great video, and so very true! I've been to 6 all-inclusives in Cuba. The nicest one was at Sandals. When you come informed and prepared, they can make for a great holiday to escape, do nothing, and recharge your batteries.
Omg this was very helpful and thorough My hubby to be and I will be heading to Cancun for our honeymoon and I was a bit worried about the resort culture. This was again...very helpful. I'm going to watch all your videos on tips while in Mexico.
Thankyou for the info. We have been to Cancun twice staying at riu palace peninsula. It is an awesome hotel and all inclusive also. We loved it that much we are going back june 2015. Yes you can pay tips but you dont have too. :)
My husband and I went to a fairly expensive $6000 all inclusive in Cancun it was unfortunately the vacation from hell you were on the third floor and the elevator did not work when we got up to the room hot sweaty and tired there was no water you couldn’t even flush the toilet And we had told her we would have transportation from the airport yet did not appear they said everybody had already left we tried all inclusive in Jamaica that’s where you will have your dream vacation inclusive in Jamaica the better ones are absolutely the most fabulous vacation you will ever have
Maybe some receptionists and sales people might ask you not to tip the staff, because it's included. As far as I know, many people that work at resorts don't earn a lot of money. Many receptionists and sales people ask not to tip the staff, because they want to sell more.
