This is devastating. I'm in Colorado, we have had huge fires too, the bickering arguments about it and the cause and the political rambling are stupid. This is blazing in real time, humans and animals, wildlife, the immense trauma everyone is feeling and going through is palpable. My heart goes out to all affected. 💞💚

I heard the police investigation, prosecutor, DA, and judge are going to make it rain after decades of drought (save the occasional winter storms with mudslides) . Right after they jail that one man responsible for it all it should end the decades of drought.
@lilbrother45
@lilbrother45 Месяц назад
What the hell are you talking about? We have had plenty of water the last couple 3-4 years. Our reservoirs have been full. Oroville and Shasta were at capacity. This is a forest management issue. I was up at Union valley reservoir this past weekend and the state is finally clearing the forests of fuel. This should have been going on for decades but it wasn’t happening.
@michaelpilot1000
@michaelpilot1000 Месяц назад
Drought..California has always been in a drought following the great Columbia basin ice age. Underground water has been used so much by farmers and cities that the entire states Valley from Klamath falls to Mexico has sunk over 30 feet. There is no return.
@MesaBoogieman82
@MesaBoogieman82 Месяц назад
@@lilbrother45 yeah, the forests are not the original diverse ones, the ones burning are Douglas Fir replants intended for future logging investments. That's why they have those "tree farm" signs everywhere. The original forests were much more diverse, more watersheds, more moisture, now they're all just Doug Fir and no daily moisture, and a LOT of people living in them now. It's not a good recipe unfortunately. And the natives didn't live in many of the places now inhabited. They used to burn the underbrush every year in the places they were going to live in. They burned for many reasons, hunting, they had a higher canopy, other tribes couldn't burn them out etc. And the original diverse forests were more sparse, they actually evolved with fire, as bizarre as that sounds. I read books back in the late 80's , 90's about the stewardship the natives practiced, and when the settlers came they outlawed the more nomadic tribes from burning. The fuel built up and there were firestorms. It's definitely all a problem that will take really thinking outside the box to get back to stasis. The European's came expecting to settle like they knew in Europe and the east Coast, but it doesn't work out west. Glad the reservoirs are filling back up , but you don't get the steady gentle rain and moisture out there. If used to rain more back in the 80's and 90's , there wasn't fires like now. And there were times in the late 1800's, early 1900's when there was big fires. There was always fire, that evolved with the trees. It's the settling down part that is actually at odds with the area. And can be done about that at this point ? Escape and live with it. That's what's evolving now. Even in the jargon, calfire, firebreaks, throwing people in jail cause they "caused" (except PGE, they don't go to jail, they just pay out ). It's the new culture there. I watched it change and evolve from the 70's - till now. I can kind of tell the way it's going just from observation.
@MesaBoogieman82
@MesaBoogieman82 Месяц назад
@@michaelpilot1000 Yeah, I watched it change from the 70's till now. It's a whole new culture. And before the settlers in the 1800's the natives that originally lived there were more nomadic, and practiced burning the underbrush and stewardship. The original forest were much more diverse, and actually more sprase and had natural firebreaks. Evolved with fire. Now it's packed Douglas Fir replants. Less watersheds and morning dew than there used to be . And the earth itself is in a warming trend, wether man made or naturally occuring doesn't much matter. It's still warming. And there's a lot of people settled in wishing they could stay that way? But?
