Tip: i had a c section with my first. They actually asked if 2 students could be in the room to observe. That was literally the only job they had so I asked if they stayed if they could please take as many pictures as they could and handed them my phone so my husband and I could be in the moment ( I asked if they could lower the drape before they pulled baby out so we could still see our little guy enter the world :). They were actually really happy to help. I got the idea from my mom who had me by csection as well and asked the students to do the same :)
My nurses were awesome in all 3 of my c-sections with taking pictures! My first was an emergency after 48hrs of active labor (they finally figured out she was stuck) but my nurses helped my hubby so much!
Girl, you look amazing!! Mama to all those children AND about to have twins... you are pretty as a picture. Don't know how you do it, but love your good attitude and sense of humor and here you are still trying to help out a sister. Love you Jordan, bless you & babies!🤗
I have had 3 babies and this is by far THE best hospital bag recommendations I’ve ever seen. I am with you, it’s all about being practical and comfortable!
I would add for summer babies: pack two options for going home outfits. I packed my hospital bag during a heat wave. It was like 90 so there was no way I was putting my newborn in long sleeves. Then it starting pouring the day I went into labor and dropped to like 50. Didn’t think to repack hospital bag. Whoops.
This happened to me with my July baby. It was over 100 when I went into labor and the next day when I left it was only 50, cloudy and raining off and on.
@@mamabenzing5872 Go figure, right? Also, isn't it hard to find heat-wave appropriate newborn clothes?! I had such a hard time! My son was like naked for the first month of his life. Thankfully wasn't a scratcher.
@@emilydecker5945 absolutely! We had to go buy some clothes because he was WAY bigger than the dr thought lol. He was 10lbs 5oz. Should of bought 2 outfits. Lol
Mom to 8 here. I learned this after my 5th. Jordan mentioned premie and newborn, but also consider 0-3 months. My 5th was our first boy and he was BIG, not even close to fitting in newborn outfits. My husband had to go home and bring him some outfits!
I went with 3 size options, some with and some without feet, and boy am I happy I did that! My kid was so long and his feet barely fit the 3 month sleepers.
Thanks for sharing! To all the Dads out there...pack your own suitcase! The pregnant lady in your life already has a lot to do...she shouldn’t be packing your hospital bag too. Go over the list of items needed together but actual packing should be done by the Dad...he is a capable adult after all hehe. I recommend packing suitcases with wheels and a pullout handle. Then no one has to strain their backs, neck, shoulders to carry or lift heavy bags...easy transport into and out of the car. Plus, someone will need to carry baby in the car seat while mama is being wheeled into or out of the hospital. Print out your master list and make copies so everyone knows what they need to pack in their suitcase and can check it off. We only packed 2 suitcases (1 for mama & 1 for dad)...my suitcase had my necessities along with baby essentials. Make sure your home is well stocked with the things you will need when you arrive home after the hospital, items for grandparents or babysitter for your kids that need to be watched while you are at the hospital, or for anyone watching your pets and taking care of your plants. Keep all your important hospital documents in a folder with a pen so when you get there or are leaving the hospital you are not scrambling to find health insurance information, ID, etc to show hospital staff especially when you need to fill out and sign forms. Find out if your hospital will let you register for your labor and delivery ahead of time online (ours def did) which can save you & your partner time and stress. I’m going to be delivering my 2nd child via c-section at the beginning of April 2020 so good luck to all the preggers out there! You can do it!!🤰🏻😀
Thanks for this info. Everyone always tells u what u need to bring to the hospital but not that u need stuff at home for once the baby is born. Never thought to make a list. This is my first pregnancy. I’m due in June so I know nothing about labor and delivery or the recovery part.
Bringing a journal is a great idea! I did record my birth story and birth impression in my phone journal and I am glad I did!!! The memories and facts get evaporated so fast after labor with all the hormones and sleep deprivation!
The hospital I delivered in twice has a heated shower bed. So even if you can't get up after delivery they take you in there and help you shower and wash your hair. Makes such a difference to start motherhood with a clean body.
And three extra chargers for the chargers that I will inevitably forget to double-check and make sure that my husband didn't take the hospital one to "definitely put it back" when he can't find another one....we're two for two lol
Love that you are so comprehensively packed but you don't fill up with all the unnecessary item's we often did when we had our first babies!! This is a perfect video for first time mama's with additional advice, you nailed it again Jordan!! 💗💗💗 P.S Two c.sections here! So if that is part of someone's delivery don't worry, you won't believe how quick you heal and with good pain meds it's not difficult to manage at all.
C-section mama here! I was in labor for a while and pushed for a while so I still had quite a bit of damage down there, but I wore my own undies home. An older nurse actually made a comment about my "skimpy" black underwear (they were full coverage seamless underwear from Target 🙄). Definitely glad I got a size up for delivery though cause it gave me an extra layer between my yoga pants and my Incision site.
I have four littles. We love the Homedics white sound machine. We’ve have one in every bedroom in our house since our first was born. When I was pregnant with my third it hit me I needed to bring a white noise machine to the hospital so we would all sleep better! It was amazing how much better our experience was. All of the little sounds from the hospital were muted and we rested much better.
I had c-sections, when the first was over my nurse was like "great lipstick, what colour is that" - Mom's need to do what makes them feel good so they can make everyone elese feel good (whatever that may look like for any women) I would say good luck(I do wish you all the best) with twins, but your already raising an army. All the best to you and your family!
God bless you wanting to bring so many kiddos in the world. I can’t have any. It sucks. Meanwhile, people pop as many as 6-12 and lose them all tk the state. This is great to see. It’s awesome to hear others with a crew completely dedicated too. 🥰 I’m jealous. I just wanted one but God had another plan for me. I’ll be adopting three older kids/teens.
It’s so interesting for me to see what other people back in the hospital bag because I’ve had two kids in between both kids before the kids were born I was in a hospital room for two hours and 21 minutes so I didn’t need anything. We barely got hooked up to monitors before babies came LOL I love though everything you included and thank you so much for sharing. I can’t wait to see the babies come in hope you’re happy and healthy and that you have an easy delivery because delivery is no joke
I’m 57 and from the Deep South. We southern mommies have our smocked Feltman Brother’s going home outfit way in advance or a little lacy day gown. These are for girls and boys. I have 2 boys so both of mine left the hospital in smocked beautiful outfits. When we got home we changed them into something more cozy.
About to have my fourth on c- section but I still get nervous! I only bring one bag for everyone and with wheels, when you get out of the hospital there's suddenly a bunch of things you have to carry, plus the baby, plus they take you out on a wheelchair, and I couldn't carry much, so my husband had to go to the car several times yo take everything, so this way we found is more practical, as for the contents: change of clothes, toiletries, electronics, blanket for the way home, pretty much, nothing fancy
Our second baby had a short stay in the NICU and food for my husband really became a problem. It seemed like the only time he had to run to the cafeteria...was when it was closed. Luckily the maternity nurses were already treating us tenderly because of the NICU scaries and got him meals when they could, but snacks are definitely a good idea.
A savior for me was a mawmaw zip front house dress. Go to your local goodwill and buy some, they're so cheap you can toss them when they get blood/vomit/poop on them and you have easy access for nursing and monitoring checks from staff. They're PERFECT. I lived in them for about 4 weeks after my csection.
Lol! "Make sure to pack a newborn and preemie outfit just in case!" When my son was born, he was so big, we couldn't snap all the snaps on the newborn suit!
due in May with baby 3 and this is EVERTHING! 4 years between babies and I truly forgot what is needed not just for me but Hubby and Bubby too. Very helpful TY
My tip: bring a 3-6 month going home outfit too in case you have a spartan baby like I did! My ten-pounder didn’t fit in any of the newborn outfits I brought.
This video is SOOO HELPFUL! I had 3 kiddos, all c-sections, and all under extremely different circumstances so I NEVER felt completely ready or organized. This video would have been extremely helpful back then and I know that it will help so many mamas in the future. Thank you for sharing all of your life experiences and what you have learned along the way ❤️ Praying for a safe delivery and healthy babies 🙏
My baby was born in Switzerland and in the birth room I got a nice wall with a painted waterfall and soft light and amazing nature sounds in the background 😍
FOOD for the husband!!! Imagine 20 hours in the hospital before you deliver, complications following where nobody is eating and everyone is just dealing with stuff, and he's with you every step of the way, but when it's finally over it's now been over 24 hours since dad's eaten and it's after the cafeteria closes and though the nurses will bring mama the food she needs, nobody's bringing dad any snacks.
Mama_in_pyjammas I think this depends on the hospital.. where I delivered all 3 of mine they had a snack bar and even a keurig in the delivery room that was available to me and my husband and the hospital my daughter is having surgery at in the next couple weeks even has an entire room that’s dedicated to snacks and drinks for dads/other support mom may have with her. It’s a total lifesaver!
The hospital I went to provided all meals for the husband as well. And a lobster/steak dinner for both as part of the celebration. A bit much....but I'm not complaining.
Additions for a cesarean... high waisted panties, small pillow to apply pressure to incision when you cough/sneeze/try to get up and gas x for trapped air (it can actually be really painful- travelled to my shoulder/ chest area). Great recommendations and reality moments here. Praying for a safe delivery for you Jordan!
I'm a first time mom so this is extremely helpful Thank you so much I've been searching online and asking other moms what they packed I have a list 3 months to go and I want to get started already
Aww congratulations on the birth of your gorgeous baby angels they look so precious and adorable 🥰 👼🏻 👼🏻 💕 bless you, Bubba and all your gorgeous babies
The best packing video ever. There are actually some good tips here for any hospital stay! Way back when I had my kids I never had cool things with me. Just clothes for baby and me ..not to mention labor and birth was a solitary event..no Dad's allowed. I was lucky that I had very short labors and deliveries. God bless and protect you and babies as they enter the world! ❤😘
I had a scheduled induction date and still didn’t manage to prepare for the hospital properly 😂 I had my hubby and mother running laundry and supplies on the daily 💙
Good for you, keeping those twins cooking. May you have healthy twins whenever they’re supposed to show up! My twins are two and a half now and it’s so fun to cheer you on. Thank you for your amazing channel. You make me a better mom😊
I'm due in July with my first, also with HG. I think I've watched this video at least three times. It's given me a lot of comfort in these uncertain times, thank you! :)
It's so funny cause I literally woke up this morning like....I wonder if Jordan Page had her babies yet! 😆 You know you spend way to much time on youtube when you wake up concerned about a youtuber! ❤💜 Wishing you a smooth delivery!!
Not pregnant. Had 5 babies, yet watched the whole video. Fun to see different ways to do this. My births are fast. Half of what is brought never is used. One thing that i def support is 2 diff outfit for mom and baby for going home. You do chg your mind! My 4th baby i wasnt exactly sure how big she would be so i brought a preemie jammie and a newborn jammie to go home in. Preemie wasnt needed but i was glad i brought it just in case of my earlier than full term- arrival-bubs. Congrats Jordan on your twins!!
My first baby ended up being huge and nothing we brought to the hospital fit him! Poor thing couldn't even squeeze his legs into a onesie! Our last baby was supposed to be a girl....turned out she was actually a HE! so yeah he wore a cute little flowery onesie for the first 24 hrs haha
If the Bambinos are ready and so are you, drink a small bottle of castor oil mixed with a cup of orange juice. Have saltines available to eat also. My first daughter was 1 week overdue, in 100 degree heat of August! Had her within 3 hours!!!! Good luck!!
I feel like I'm odd or something. I never put clothes on my kids when we were in the hospital. I wanted all the skin to akin time i could get. And their dad went to work the day after i had them (3) so i could bond and figure out breastfeed/pumping.
Stephanie Streed I agree I needed just a bag pack my husband went home to do everything you else while me and the baby sleep. The I would wake up and there he is and at night he went home to take care of the kids and put them to bed and sent them off to school... I did regular birth and c sections
I kept my babies wrapped in blankets for at least two weeks. Theis skin is SO soft and newborn's are like jellyfish, yup, try to put a onesie on a jellyfish, it's not fun for you and I can't imagine it would be fun for the baby either.
I had a c section and adult diapers were the only thing I could wear . You still bleed out of your bits after a c section and underwear hurt the incision
Do they give you adult diapers, or do you have to bring your own? I keep hearing people say not to bring toiletries and stuff, because the hospital provides them. I don't want to get there and be missing things I need. O.O
Needed this...thanks for posting it. I’m currently 24 weeks with baby #2...baby #1 is currently 3 years old....so I have an idea of what to pack, but it’s always nice to see what other experienced mamas pack ;)
See this is why I watch you! You’re the realest! Leaving space in that hospital bag is key for bringing things home! I’m 37 weeks pregnant with baby number 2 and I’m planning not to bring certain things because I know the hospital will provide it and I’ll have some to bring home.
Bianca, I’m sure it’s obvious to everyone, but Jordon’s advice in this instance is very much US centric. I’m in Canada and the hospital supplied diapers and wipes and that was pretty much it. I had to have everything else both for me and baby. And the only thing you could take home with you were the extra diapers. So if you’re looking for advice for your hospital bag, look for local videos and see if you can ask your care provider or hospital what they provide so you’re not surprised on the big day.
@@ang_131 My advice is very much US centric as well because I work in the hospital in the U.S. Don't leave anything behind so it can "go to a home that will use it"...in the U.S they will just throw it away.
Canadian here as well. I literally got 5 pads for me post partum, with no option for more when i asked (sooooo glad i brought some) and they provided us with diapers till we left the hospital and a purse size tube of vaseline for baby bum cream. Thats it, thats all.
None of my babies could actually fit into the newborn outfits from the very beginning. Glad I took some 0-3 mon clothes. And I also took warm baby blankets, burp cloths, and pacifier. I also took an electric kettle to my last delivery with drinking water, tea bags, and my thermos cup, as well as styrofoam cups (to make tea for my visitors). I love drinking hot tea and it also helps with milk production!
In Ireland we have to bring everything to the hospital ourselves. Everything down to nappies (diapers) and soothers (binkys) clothes for baby and you for the time they stay in the hospital. Dads are not allowed to stay after 9.30pm at night so no sleeping at the hospital.
Jordan, I love all of this advice! I wish I had know this with first baby. My first go around. I didn’t even know I could get up and shower. So I didn’t shower for like 4 days! 😭 Luckily with my second baby I took a shower the SECOND the nurse told me I could. Also, you said a new born out fit and a preemie outfit. I had the opposite problem. My first son was a big baby. 9 pounds 5 ounces and 21.5 inches long. So when we went to leave the hospital, he was squished in his outfit. His knees where almost touching his chest. I felt so bad! Thankfully we live 8 minutes form the hospital and we got home, took some pictures and immediately changed him. But ladies expecting babies, talk to your doctors. They usually have a guess on how big the baby/babies will be. So go off of that to choose what sizes you should bring. 😊😊 Best of luck everyone. Hopefully one day I can convince my husband to have another baby. But he thinks #15 is too many. Lol jk jk I just have 2! 😆🤣
My first pregnancy we had a mommy and baby bag, daddy bag, and snack/essentials bag. Well...my husband forgot the snack bag and he didn't touch his bag the day and a half we were there. 2nd baby I packed one backpack for everyone and it worked great. We still forgot a phone charger though... 🤦🏻♀️
Omg! The. The twins are coming!! Im so happy for you and your beautiful family! My little chicken nugget is 6 months now, and I already miss the feeling of having a newborn! Hope everything goes well!
FYI: If you’re going to take a matching outfit for you and the baby to go home in, you must always pack an alternate outfit of clothing for just you, in case the baby has to stay in the hospital longer than you! (Like if the baby is in the NICU for extra days, after the mom is released!!) My daughter had to stay in the hospital NICU for the first nine days after birth, but I was released after I think after day 3 or 4? When they released me, I REFUSED to put on the brand new outfit I got for myself that matched my daughter’s outfit, so I made my husband go home and bring me something else to wear out of the hospital! 😱😱 ALWAYS be prepared for the alternative!!!!
I am 53 and my boys are 27 and 23 and I just love your videos! My husband says I’m obsessed ,lol . I laugh out loud and just adore you. At the very least, I’m getting tips for and future grand babies and my very near future daughter in law! Keeping you and yours in my prayers awaiting those lil ones💛
I've had my tubes tied and my youngest is 9. I have determined that I will watch ANYTHING you post Jordan even when it doesn't pertain to me anymore! haha. That nursing cover looks AMAZING!!! the sleeves are genius!.
I had a c section, so recommend over night pads just incase , granny panties or just really large ones from what your use to , my favorites are fit for me , they have been through 4 IBD surgeries. Also a pillow for the ride home . Excited for you I hope all goes well
Exciting days ahead! And this time for a twin 😍 I'm a new mom and just started my youtube journey just like you. You are an inspiration for doing all of these. Good luck and we are all looking forward! 😍😍😍
Your hospital bags are too cute. 😍In my last 5 pregnancies I made it a point to bring my flat iron along with my makeup/ bathroom necessities and a nice pair of fluffy cozy house slippers.
If you end up having a c section you're going to want comfortable panties that are cotton and dont touch your incision. My FAVORITE were the playtex maternity fold down briefs you can find them in a 3 pack on amazon. They go over the incision area and are so soft so they dont snag at the incision either. They are also big enough for a pad because you will still bleed. Also recommend a tummy wrap. Hope all goes well for you and your sweet babies❤
I just watched that whole video at 45 years old (my tubes are tied and my husband had a vasectomy)...don't know why I did but it was a great video. pinkies/pacifiers are called dummies in Australia and Europe. Just to help that side of the world out.
As a L&D nurse, as far as meals go I always tell mom to over order and let dad have some of it. The kitchen doesn’t know or care! Also, as far as jewelry goes, that is really good advice to take it all off because if you were having a C-section and especially if there is an emergency section that you weren’t planning on having you cannot have jewelry on during the operation. That’s not a good time to try to get your wedding ring off that is stuck on because you are so swollen.
What a great video... i’m 38 weeks pregnant and just pack my hospital bag and shot a video will be posting it very soon but I love looking at your videos so much great energy.
I have 5 kids and I’m done. This video makes me want to have more. I love having babies! Great suggestions. I would suggest nipple cream too. Especially when nursing double time with twins!
Today is my birthday! And I'm 37 weeks with my second. (Due date is the day before you 3/27) This video was an amazing gift to watch before bed. Thanks Jordan! 💕 Sending lots of mama love to you all in our last few days/week of prep.
For a cesarían don’t forget to ask for your belly band! That thing helps you feel like your guts are not totally going to fall out! Totally wrapped like a snug burrito. 😅
And wear it until not a pinch of pain is left. It made such a difference that I wore that after my second one. The pain was immensely better wearing it.
I can't advocate for taking a belly band enough, and I didn't have a C-section. I had preeclampsia and thanks to a magnesium drip I lost 40 pounds of baby/water weight in three days. The band made my insides feel like they weren't floating in an endless void.
I always love seeing what others think is helpful to take for their hospital bags! I had my little at a birthing center in the water and honestly didn’t bring much. And out of everything I brought, I only used like 30% of it. I actually couldn’t do music. I just wanted silence while I labored. I was only there for 18 hours until I was sent home. So I’m sure it would have been a lot different if I chose the hospital!
SO glad you came out with this! YES to the charger extenders haha Also in the UK you don't usually have a private room, so definitely flip-flops for the communal shower 😜 Love to your gorgeous family 💕
For clothes in my hospital bag for my first, I packed a premie and newborn going home outfit, and she was 9lbs and didn’t lose weight in the hospital, so someone had to bring us a bigger outfit! With my second, we had a growth ultrasound and knew she was around 9lbs, so we brought 0-3 month clothes and she came out at 10lbs 10oz! So now I always recommend to people bringing just one 0-3 month sleeper, just in case🤍
OMG where was this video when I had my son. I can't wait to see your babies and your family meeting the babies. Love your family. For my C-section the doctor had me wear sweats or yoga pants but still no panties.
One advice I'd have (from the UK) is to sort out a drawer or something with extra things in so if you have to stay in the hospital for longer than planned there is a drawer you can send your partner or a friend to at home to bring in extra clothes for you and baby. Means you don't have to over pack, nor worry about what they'll bring in or someone seeing something in your drawers you'd rather they didn't.
Haven't each watched yet and finished having babies but I just want to wish you all the best for the arrival of your little twins!! You are an amazing mother, i dont kmow how you do it!!! Love from Ireland x
I'm a newly expecting mama and I appreciate the honesty in this video! I've watched other hospital bag videos and some of the women recommend curling irons and all this fancy stuff and that's just not me. I will definitely be bringing scrunchies! And I love Mory June! I have a list of goodies I want to purchase! Congratulations on your babies! 💕🙏
My bag for hospital : one pair of clothes for the discharge day , cell charger , brush kit for my husband , two pairs of good cloths and one PJ FOR MY HUSBABD !! Literally extremely minimalistic packing !! May be a laptop and a camera in my hubby’s bag pack and some snacks 😬🤷♀️😊
