Thank you for this - you encouraged me to actually go out in the snow today and run for the first time in a VERY long time! It was hard but so worth it. The roads were dry and bare and it wasn't too windy out. I never would have thought I could run outdoors in that weather but it was actually totally fine. Thank you for the encouragement 🙌

Thanks for breaking down each type of gear by temperature range! That's exactly what I've been looking for.

Thanks so much! I’m just taking up running and have enjoyed the nice weather of late. In Colorado too, btw. Last couple of days… lots of sunshine and chilly wind. Despite best intentions and plenty of determination, I’ve found myself returning to home after a chilly block or two wondering how on Earth I’ll equip myself for our variable weather. While I’m quite comfortable in the mountains at any temperature and in any season…. Whole new gig and your insights and experience are of tremendous assistance. THANKS!!!

Hi Russell! Let me know if you have a specific question about a piece of gear you might need for the cold! I promise if you dress right you can make it just about anything. Except about sub 5/10 degrees and then I'm usually on the treadmill haha. May be cold here but I'm always thankful it's not Minnesota!

I swear by mittens and my husband is all in on vests! Thanks for motivating me to make sure I have the right gear to make winter less miserable!

Yay! That first mile can be tough even in the right clothes, but once you warm up, you'll be good to go!

so far, I've "been just doing it" -- running outdoors here in upstate New York -- BRRRR - so far just 20 and 30 F have been the coldest days in November-- wind is the worst - got some ski goggles and tried them yesterday - fogged up on my 4th and last mile of my run -- if I can correct that ((some shield or plug the bottom vents, so my breathing doesn't come up into my goggles - LOL ) -- they really keep my eyes from getting watery from the wind --- THANK YOU for this vid --- I'm working on getting the right winter equipment !!!

Oh so cold...biting wind is the absolute worst! I hope you can get the fogging worked out...I do know they sell some sort of anti-fog spray you could try that may work! And you're welcome - appreciate you watching!

Yay Sarah!! Proud of you! How did it go? 15 degrees on the start of my run today in CO, but the sun was shining and I was layered up so I was grateful to be out there!

@@runningwithjane I got the men’s top with the long turtle neck like u recommended and the mens leggings. Ran in -1/0 Celsius today, with wind chill brining it down to -5 C. Felt very cozy and nice despite horrible conditions outside lol now I’m impatiently waiting for colder weather haha. The clothes check out yall.

I wear Rx glasses but have to go outside in contacts b/c our new hometown gets 10 degrees with snow (moved from the desert 🌵 🏜 🐪 of all things). Wearing my regular glasses out is like wearing an ice pack across my nose & sinus cavity. I’ve been thinking of wearing ski goggles out there for extra insulation.

Hey there - yeah and I'm sure they get fogged up, too! I've know people to wear ski goggles! I started wearing glasses in 3rd grade so can completely empathize...but I do wear contacts most of the time now.

Hi Barbara - you're so welcome! The socks are from Smartwool and are actually for skiing, but they work great on really cold runs! I've had mine quite awhile but these are at least a similar style: amzn.to/33mUhPq I've had mine forever - love Smartwool.

Hi Jane! Im from Canada and currently training for a marathon as well! I was wondering what was the model of the outdoor research winter jacket you are wearing for below 20 degrees F weather? I run sometimes in -20C temperatures so I am very picky in terms of choice of a good winter jacket that keeps mw warm added to being windproof and breathable. Thank you!
@runningwithjane
@runningwithjane 2 года назад
Hey there! I love that jacket for running! It's the "Refuge Hooded." There may be a more recent version but the exact one I have is linked in the description. Mine is the celestial blue color. This one from Arcteryx is another great option but is pricier: Arc'teryx Atom LT Hoody Women's | Lightweight, Versatile synthetically Insulated Hoody. www.amazon.com/dp/B08BJGGFRB/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_1DRTNP6GGVWG3SZ5GWJ9?psc=1 Hope you find one that works great for you!
