"Ok guys you really dont need to spend a lot of money. Just a socket kit and this small tool box and that's it...Now over here is my $500 tool box with $500 worth of tools." 😁
JB Weld, Hook and Pick Set, Imperial and Metric nut and bolt assortment kits, Imperial and Metric Tap and Die Set, wire brushes, brass punches, Flexible 3/8 extension, Vernier Caliper, Micrometer, Compression Tester, Air compressor, Angle die-grinder, Drill, 60-piece drill bit set, bench top lathe, bench top drill press, bench grinder with wire wheel, mig welder. The last 4 tools mentioned aren't really necessary, but I have had to use them many times. =) You should really have everything except the last 4. Otherwise, you will need to ship parts out to a machine shop.
that was the perfect video!! Duct tape has saved my life! I was riding in the dunes on my 05 yz250 and took the number plates off and duct taped the airbox on the sides. I went for a ride and my rear wheel nut fell off haha, guess I forgot to tighten it but I was 15 ha. I ended up making a duct tape Nut and kept wrapping the end of the axle with the duct tape from my air box and was able to make it back to camp!
Love the channel! So glad that I stumbled across it. I always find myself checking in to see what you've got going on. Never would have heard of the Lectron carb otherwise. Absolutely LOVE that thing on my 250xcw. Once again, great channel.
I have a box about that same size that my dad gave me (had no use for it) so I filled it with everything... we pretty much have the same setup. wrench sets, screwdrivers, ratchets, ect. only thing I'd suggest adding is some electrical tools; wire strippers, voltmeter and puller tools. I got a motion pro fly wheel puller for about 20 bucks and I saw case splitters go for cheap too. btw i love your shop... soooo clean, must be nice lol Good videos, keep it up!
Mite not be a bad idea to have a tap and die set. I have found it useful if you have a older bike. also if you ever make the mistake of cross threading or you need to do a helicoil to replace bed threads. also have a digital caliper for measuring clearances. Thanks for all of the informative videos. Great channel!
well you made me go out buy new rolling cabinet , my tools in clumps all over the place was getting out of control ,not finding what i needed at hand , ,slowly filling it as i find them all
Personally I like having feeler gauges and various gapers for spark plugs along with a set Alan head sockets in case you need a bit more leverage on your Alan heads
I would say that is more than 200$ worth of tools lol. I do think you are spot on though. You can get away with a hand full of tolls to break the whole bike down. I use an old Keg for a tire stand. Never used duck tape on the bike, I prefer the electrical tape. Its crazy that since I got into dirt bikes my tools have expanded and I am now an expert on fixing my bike. You have to be when the bike shop charges 100$ for a valve adjustment and 300$ for a top end.
+Chris Luton (Mutiny5050) The first set of tools in the video wouldn't be much more than 200 or so to get you started. The stuff in the drawers are a lot more than $200 :(
good stuff Kyle , .... hey, everything so neat, love it! but why are the wheels on the tool box/cart are not properly lined up ... sort of ruins the whole video ;P
Hey Kyle could you do a video on air filters? Cleaning, oiling, what works, what doesn't. Thanks! Love love love the videos you make. They have helped me a ton.
Get a set of JIS screwdrivers for the Japanese dirt bikes. You see a lot of stripped out phillips screws on these all because a regular phillips screwdriver has been used.Vessel makes these and there are a couple more that make them
I was going to point out that this seemed like one of your lower quality (less organized, more mistakes, etc) videos, but you made up for it all with the duct tape clip at the end ;)
nice toolbox and clean setup!!! when i bought my Ktm, i bought AC Delco digital torque wrench in 1/2 and 3/8 that fit on standard ratchet, easy to setup on the digital screen and have sound warning when approching preset torque value! I didnt want to overtorque screws or nuts on a brand new bike! Im still waiting your wheelie tutorial video!
Good video. I see people in the comments have filled in with everything else you'd need or want. I'd add a quality chain break. nothing to me is more aggravating than dealing with a cheap chain break.
I will be moving to the park city area in May and wanted to know if you could recommend a few reputable ktm dealers in the state. Any info is appreciated. Thanks!
I came for info on your torque wrench but didn't get much info on it :( I think it's an ACDelco?? (Edit: Oh not in this video, but I think you have the ACDelco digital in newer videos). Just wondering if I should get the 3/8 and 1/2. How do you torque the bigger stuff if you only have the 3/8" wrench?
I'm surprised u don't have a compression gauge it's very necessary for 2 strokes u can not only know by keeping track of hours of run time but you can see and verify if it's time for a top end rebuild
For today's bikes you really need a high dollar snap on torque wrench (if you review how far off most torque wrenches are) and a nice electric screw gun. Nice show Kyle, thanks for the great channel.
+andrew jeanveau That's awesome dude. You are way ahead of most 14-16 y/o kids on the planet these days. Keep it up Andrew..! Follow Kyle's advice on this video and you will GTG.
what about a torque wrench? because thats mainly why i even searched this video... i also would like to know when brand of torque wrench and what sizes im going to be doing the valves on my bike and dont want to just TIGHTEN everything down i rather go to spec thanks i appreciate it i was going to go with cdi/snapon i really dont know what to do i have alot of tools i need to buy and i just want to get the best possible price you know im a penny pincher
+Dirt Bike Channel I'm buying two torque wrenches both Cdi the snap on certified torque wrenches on amazon These are the links ... Tell me what you think I have no idea what to buy if you have any suggestions please let me know www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B002LA19P2/ www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B000I1POYS/
Teflon Tape is I mostly used for sealing up threads/ valves that will be having air passing through them. It stops leaks and probably has many more great uses (:
+Dirt Bike Channel. I like how you say 'standard' when the U.S if one of the only countries still to use the imperial system for bolts. Just sayin haha.
+Dirt Bike Channel That was meant to come off as a joke, sorry if you took it any other way :p It happens almost every time i make a joke because i don't speak English as a native language :)
+Aleksi Tuunainen Uh oh Aleski, you made him mad... You're Finn-ished. No, your joke was funny and it didn't come across wrong. He will ship those extra sockets out to you Monday. :)
+Bad Juju Bought an inch/pound torque wrench by mistake. I'm thinking about taking it back because I've always used a foot/pound wrench. What's the difference or conversion factor. Would it be easier to use foot/pounds?
