Hi Scott, I’m with you regarding the factory OEM filters. I bought my 03’ with the 6.0 used and the previous owner always used Rotella t6. I have recently turned over 341,000 miles. Knock on wood it’s still running strong. Also Subscribed and love your 6.0 content. Thank you sir,

That's what I use, and the motorcfaft oil filters and fuel filters, I have a 2005 F250 6.0, 293 thousand miles, if u treat it right it will treat u right.

As long as u use a synthetic oil and are consistent u should be fine atleast thats wat ford said hahah oem only

I used to use the motorcraft full synthetic, you can’t find it anymore so I did my research and Rotella t6 is the only other option that and motorcraft filters.

I have nothing in common with conditions in this video. I live 30 minutes from Death Valley (Conneticut AIN'T HOT) My truck regularly sees temps of 120* and up. It's been to Bulletproof Diesel (Mesa Arizona) for the complete conversion with hot weather coolers. Stock injectors, and I recently had one fail. The oil filter is a spin on in in the front bumper. I use synthetic 15 W 40 Lucas Magnum CJ4 oil with Archoil friction modifier at each 3000 mile change. It's used to tow a boat to Havasu, Jeeps and SxS's. No short trip daily driving. Not much stop and go, mostly freeway speed up over mountains. I have a tuner but I leave it stock. Stock tire size in a 2007 FX4 crew cab longbed. I'm not a fan of any brand of oil, I want good oil. I'm open to suggestions.

Northern CT resident here with an 06 6.0 e350 and use the arch oil additive. My question is with the high pressure pump how many others in ct run this oil and have luck. You said you have customers have you seen the 5w40 do well in the 6.0?
@ScottMyers5189
@ScottMyers5189 2 года назад
Hi ryan my fellow CT resident. To answer your question Yes, for the 6.0 powerstroke platform due to the HPOP, you need the heavier 40 weight oil. 5w-40 has done very well in my personal experience, one reason i recommend that oil weight to my customers. Also you can run it all year around. I have customers in both Mass and CT. You being From CT you know what the winters and summers can be like.

I had two 6.0s and ran regular 15w40 and had nothing but trouble out of them. I traded the last one in 2014 for a new 6.7 and never looked back. I've since heard you can bulletproof them and run 5w40 making them good trucks.

I wonder if 6.0 takes less than quarts of oil compare to ford 6.7 ? If anything it’s probably the same amount

Nothing wrong with Rotella at all in the 6.0. Although, when I switched to Motorcraft 15W40 semi-synthetic in mine, I noticed power gains and easier starts. 227k miles.

I use 10w-40 not 15w. The lifters are the weak point in the engine and need the most lubricant, the lifters are to small for the engine and are exactly the same lifters in a Chevy 350 small block, or 5.7 hemi dodge ram, same part number, I wouldn't run 15w oil in my 5.7 hemi. While the bottom end is very well made the lifters in the 6.0 are not a diesel heavy duty application. 10w is just thin enough to lubricant the lifters while maintaining enough high oil pressure.

The manufacturers do not recommend what brand of oil to use, only the API typ and viscosity. As todays motor oils are of high quality there is no need nor do auto manufacturers recommend the use additives.

Another option - TRIAX Supreme ESP 5W-40 or 15W-40 --> Both are Full / 100% Synthetic HDEO!

What oil should you use. How about 10w not 15w or even 20w. The reason is because the engine has chevy 350 small block lifters. Dont believe me. Same part number as ones in the 5.7L hemi or chevy 350. You're not gonna use 15w oil in a 5.7L hemi.

This is the first 6.0 video I have watched. I guess when dealerships are flooded with crap, your feed fills up with crap. Don’t buy a 6.0 or 6.4 no matter how many times they show up on your feed regardless of your interest in them. No thanks.

The older ones tend to be crap before 08 after that they got most of the bugs worked out.if you've got the time you can fix most of the issues with the older ones without too much trouble things like egr deletes etc.

@@charlebrownga the 6.4 was by far more "buggy" than any problematic 6.0 I've ever seen come thru the dealer. They got better in the 11 model year, other than hpfp failing and ruining the entire fuel system, scr, nox sensor and def failures, temp sensors, exhaust manifold leaks, turbo failures, upper oil pan gasket failures, and on and on and on. The 6.0 had it's problems with plugged oil coolers and stock head bolts stretching when tuned to the moon and a teenager driving it like it was stolen. The 6.0 wasn't as bad or expensive as the newer models. I know from tons of experience as a diesel technician. I won't say anything about the 6.4, not worth my time. Garbage engine. This comment would be ten miles long listing it's known and inevitable and un fixable problems. Just stating some facts for those that don't know.

@@GriffyWdaGrippy 183+ on my 04, tuned, non "Cali compliant"... 😂 Best truck I've ever had, and that's coming from an owner of the trusty 7.3. I also have an 03' with the 7.3, and it's been a fantastic truck when it comes to reliability, but the 6.0 is so much more refined, makes a ton more power, and more efficient when pulling heavy. I love my 6.0, it's been just as reliable for me as my 7.3. the best trucks you can get in my highly experienced opinion as a certified Ford diesel technician of well over a decade and counting.
