The SEC is still more regional in comparison whereas the Big 10 will expand from coast to coast. As an USC fan here in LA, I'm looking forward to this move in 2024. The former head of the Pac12 was in office for years and the only thing big that he accomplished was a big paycheck.
I hope the big ten adapts to a schedule where everyone plays each other in a 3 year period Like the 3-6-6 schedule strategy may work perfect I really want to see these matchups OSU @ USC UCLA @ Michigan USC @ PSU UCLA @ IOWA USC @ Wisconsin and many more matchups
USC and UCLA should be put in the BIG10 West. Period. Wisconsin is the only decent team there. The BIG10 East has Michigan, Penn State, Ohio State, and Michigan State already.
Although UCLA sports is one of the most winning college programs in history, they were struggling financially because of title IX. It was a faulty bill that was promoted under the goal of equality but instead has resulted in destroying college sports programs as a whole across the nation. For all you safespace man haters, look up UCLA wrestling.
Most of the teams come the cold months of the end of Nov through Feb arent playing any more so that's not that big a deal and bear in mind Oregon, Washington, and Colorado all have cold weather and snow. The only thing they'll have to contend with is a very cool fall for deep running teams.
@@fr0stb1ght34 USC playing say Rutgers@ Rutgers? I don't see L.A making the trip unless its for something of serious value . This is gonna take some adjustments but the $$$$$$ advantage is to big. UCLA in a deficit certainly cant pass on the money. Knew George Kliavkoff was gonna make some big changes but didnt see this however.
Usc will bring a new type of media to the big 10. there’s a reason why they say when Usc is good its the only pro college football team. Not because of the talent and we know they’ll lose to any pro team it’s because the way the media and stars of LA will treat them. Colin will Lincoln riley on his yacht with the big shots of fox while some of the stars at Sc are at a laker game or a rams game etc.
I think you'll find we could care less about Riley yacht , We care about Football . There won't be much glamour on a cold November day playing my Buckeyes in front of a 105,000 in the shoe or 110,000 in the big house or 107,000 for a white out . Welcome to the Big 10
This is actually a good thing. The same teams get boring. Some tradition is great, but 9 games a season gets boring when Big 10 teams have to play Rutgers and Maryland every year.
Tradition is what they want gone. Its what made college football fun. Now that people get paid its going to be the same robotic nonsense that the Pro sports produce. This is the generation of the extreme , poorly thought out decisions. Just dont call it college football anymore. Its dead.
@@WDB2005 all of those are nice choices. ND is definitely invited if they'll ever accept it. As for everyone else I'm not sure. I can tell you now if it's a unanimous vote that gets schools in Cincinnati can count themselves out as tOSU would never vote to let them in. Can't have competition for top blue chip players going to Cincy because they're also B1G conference unfortunately. The others I could see tho.
I like the focus on academics. But he did not fully address the financial impact of joining the Big 10. What were the compelling numbers that swayed UCLA and USC?
Zack Fishman USC/UCLA would make roughly $30M staying in the PAC-12. By joining the Big Ten, every team in that conference will make nearly $100M with the new TV contract. Throw a $70M plus raise on my desk, and i am moving too.
Financial impact? The money hasn't started rolling in yet. Obviously the B1G TV deal hasn't been finalized yet but conference was able to promise a minimum for USC and UCLA that made the PAC12 look like pennies. So they jumped.
@@gunner-qf9eh BANG!! BANG!! All day!! The only thing I'm watching for is Trey Lance development. Im not worried about the rest of team because we have a roster that's ready to Win 2 SBs when healthy, and if Kyle can get out of his own way with play calling at the end of big games. But Jimmy's limits probably had a lot to do with it.
@@israelpacheco7670 well maybe on TV considering I live in Pasadena pretty close to the Rose Bowl it was packed but if there's no pack 10 how can they keep their tradition going for whoever plays on the 1st if there's nobody to play against
The large bowl games will fall by the wayside as soon as the playoffs expand. I guess a playoff game could be played in the rose bowl but the writing is on the wall that the death of large bowls is near.
All I'm saying is adding Oregon and striking a deal with Nike through them in conjunction with the tv deal could net each school an additional $20+mil easy.
@@georgeinjapan6583 the move out of the PAC 12 was driven by the Football programs. USC has won 17 championships outright, shared eight and gone to the Rose Bowl or BCS bowl 21 times. UCLA has won six championships outright, shared five and gone to the Rose Bowl eight times. The schools have thrice shared the championship.
@@georgeinjapan6583 The heading of this post is "What USC & UCLA Football bring to the Big Ten" I'm enjoying watching you squirm by changing the subject, deflecting to talk about other than football. Instead yapping about other sports & subjects. Chemistry, badminton yada yada yada.... stick to the subject. Not weather or not one attended either school.... you lose in this conversation. I'll remind you again. Head to head in Football USC leads 49-33-7. Largest Victory, USC 76-0 (1929)
4 road conference games is manageable. Use the bye week to buffer it. Void the overtime tie breaker. Play some night games in the central time zone. The road team always wins the toss.
Meh, this is terrible for college football and is a shaft for the majority of college football fans overall. Go get your big $$$ at the cost of all the things that make college football great. It’s really just a shame what these guys are doing.
Yeah! Texas is kinda in the south east. If UTEP were to join, no, but Austin is closer to Louisiana. Oklahoma is not really the south east. But it’s not an odd one out compared to usc and ucla.
@@GLee-oe3op what's integrity got to do with anything when the money generated by this move actually HELPS the schools (particularly *ALL* other sports, including Olympics) continue to flourish and prosper. If you have it your way these two schools along with everyone else in the Pac will jus' fail with the entire conference losing students and athletes because of non competition.
What will USC and UCLA bring? More regular season losses for leading Big 10 football programs and they themselves will lose one, two or three more regular season games. Super conferences will be great levellers. It will create more perceived mediocrities, because the positions at the top will stay limited to what they have been. Few, very few.
