Another masterclass by Dipoto. Incredible what he has done with the financial restraints from ownership

I love the banter between these guys! I'm semi-optimistic about the 2024 season, but am a little concerned about how many things have to go right in order for the Mariners to have a really good season. I can't wait for the season to start though!

In the beginning of the segment, I didn’t know Jeff’s voice could crack like that.

If his voice had to crack that much to get out the words “pretty good,” the Mariners didn’t do pretty good.

This team definitely looks better than last years barring injury, the offensive depth is a lot better, the young rotation arms will likely take a step forward, and the bullpen looks to be pretty lights out

Pre 2023 I can remember a lot of people being happy about the Kolten Wong deal and a lot of the stuff being said about Ty France now was basically being said about JP Crawford then, before Robbie Ray got hurt and Sewald got traded the pitching staff was looking just as strong, adding Teo and the way Kelenic, Cal and Genio ended 2022 i felt as good about the 2023 bats as I do now, just like last year some players we expect to work out will be a disapointment and others like JP last year will be a pleasant surprise, but I’m very optimistic and happy with the job Dipoto did one thing I’ll say about players like Haniger and Polanco although injury prone in recent years I feel like if they have anything left then they are due and will show it this year, you can even throw Rojas in there, multiple guys are capable of stepping up and having career years or coming close to it

I have a feeling this is the year where the win total explodes. It’s just a vibe, the best way to get ownership to spend on superstars is by punching him in the face with a 105-57 season lmao
@kellyroach76

People aren’t sleeping, they just want to see some results that prove it versus getting excited too early only to flop like recent years. Good health and some level of consistency must be achieved for this team to succeed. The “better on paper” idea is a trap and leads to us being let down again. I hope we stay healthy and compete for a playoff spot!

For the last 3 years, the M’s have been hovering near 500 by 1st week of July.. It might take long for the players to gel and get used to their roles on this team. Scott Servais has a tougher job because there are a lot of new players outside the organization that he isn’t familiar with. This team will be slower to get out of the gate. With the new offensive philosophy, the fans need to be patient for this to gain traction among the players.
@jefffinkbonner9551
@jefffinkbonner9551 3 месяца назад
And that’s on Scott as the manager. They have all of Spring Training to gel. Is getting paid millions of dollars not enough incentive for grown men and professionals at their skill to find a way to get comfortable around each other enough to excel and demonstrate competence?

@@jefffinkbonner9551 Each of the last 3 years, the M’s have been near 500 by 1st week of July. Each season, you had spring training to gel and yet, the M’s were near 500 by the 1st week of July. That’s with a team that was essentially the same roster from the year before. This year is different with a 35% turnover in the lineup. Scott better do his homework.

Sorry, still not convinced that they did enough. Where did we improve offensively? Listening to 710 today I heard that the new reliever will be valuable because there will be a lot of 3-2 games… Why should I even watch? I am just tired of this team not scoring. Can someone sell me that this team is not going to be a chore to watch?

Passans analysis continues to be piss poor. No clue why you continue to have him on for analysis. Just pick his brain on FA or who’s on the trade market, thats all he’s good for. It’s a guarantee he’s going to say something objectively stupid. Whether it’s “the Mariners play in a dome” or today’s “Mariners starting pitching was healthy last year” this dude continues to PROVE he doesn’t know what he’s talking about. You ask him a question and he gives you the prevailing takes found on Twitter. He’s a fool.

After these poor off-season trades, it is no wonder that the M's have not had much success for the past 8 years... 2024 will be like playing on hopes and a prayers, good luck...the M's will need some.

The M's don't want to win they want to go far and make noise and ultimately just make profit but we need to start calling out the owner for letting a whole community down by not trying to win but trying to just make profit

@@supernaturalta6174 I think the M’s management put way too much pressure on his immediately, made him out to be the next Griffey. His first game was sold out and they had him battling 1st in the lineup. Thats just asking for a young man to fail.

I don't. My reasoning is if he had stayed here where he doesn't want to be he'd still suck and not want to get better and also drag the team down with him, they were better with him not on the team w/l wise. It's a change of scenery thing good for both the Mariners and Kelenic.

Mariners committed to getting questionable guys health wise and guys who are hit/miss in general by year and by ballpark and by team they are on. Go get a solid player who is good every year in every park that the whole league wants. It is that simple. Twitter and podcast bros too high on dipoto and are back to the boot licking big time lately. That being said I think this team wins about the same amount of games as last yr and finishes 3rd maybe 2nd in the division. NOT GOOD ENOUGH

"On paper" their off-season moves have lost them >6 WAR. The obvious statement to make is, players can't accrue stats and positive WAR from the injured list. IF the players they brought in stay on the field, that number changes for the better. That's obviously BY FAR the biggest "IF" of the season. While their moves this off season have made a lot of sense, that gamble cannot be overlooked or overstated.

Julio is a TWEENER not enought OBA to be ELIETE #1 or #2 hitter.....not enough SLUG be ELITE #3 or #4 hitter....rotation is above average, but injuries a BIG problem to count on for 230 innings out of any of the four.. SPs to make them a "Go to" ELITE guy for September/October. The team is a B+ very good team, but NOT good enough to win 95......an ownership NOT willing to spend another $25 million so they can compete with Houston's talent pool. how so? the lineup is significantly deeper as well as a better bench and the bullpen arms we let go were mostly replaced. They got a 90 and 88 win season with no real 6-9 hitters at all. jose caballero, sam haggerty, cade marlowe, dom canzone.... those are bench guys now. Maybe im wrong but it seems a bit illogical to estimate another 88-90 win season on paper.

Anyone who thinks they’ve recovered the production of Suarez and Hernandez is delusional. Polanco has played more than 100 games 4 times in his career. Both Mitches are injury prone and probably won’t play 90 games combined.

Sign Trevor Bauer. He seems to be injured free. I don’t see anything wrong physically. He didn’t pitch in the majors last 2 years, but should be ready for the preseason. I’m sure that he’ll sign a 1 year contract with minimal salary. I believe that he has Cy Young capabilities just like Blake Snell, but is a cheaper option. His last 2 years in the MLB was pretty good. It should be a no-brainer. He is certainly better than any of the backup pitchers on 40 man roster. I’m surprised that the M’s haven’t taken a flyer on him. He could be the hidden gem of free agent pitchers this off-season. There seems to be no competition for his services which means he could be had on the cheap. He could be better than Miller or Woo.
