I focus mainly on the Bronze Age only dedicating few a paragraphs to prehistory, while I discuss extensively on the Early, Middle, and Late Bronze Ages. I don't cover everything, but I tried to cover as much as possible. I also discuss Egypt and the wider Near East as a whole, but only when relevant.
Thank you for this excellent description of ancient beliefs. It's interesting to consider the Israelites also being Canaanites. This changes how one reads the Hebrew Bible.

@@certafyde I'm familiar with the Canaanites serving many gods. Humans were serving gods that was supposed to lead mankind to Yahweh but these other deities wanted the people to serve them instead of Yahweh. So out of Canaan Yahweh chose Abraham to build a nation that will serve the true God of all things, Lord of lords and King of kings and The God of god's. There's no other deity like Yahweh.
I'm not super familiar with Canaan's history or religion but from my layman's perspective this looks to be an incredibly well researched video! You pack a lot of information and even acknowledge that scholars still debate this stuff (as they always do) but it's easy to understand and the animations help that. Israelites were not Canaanites. They migrated thru Canaan to Egypt, then became the Hyksos. Later, they were forced out by Kamose and Ahmose I (likely the story of “Moses”). Canaan was Ham’s son. Meaning, Canaan was Ham’s extension. Ham was considered Africa and it extended to Canaan (now called Israel), after they “promised” land to themselves. You wouldn’t dehumanize Canaanites and “invade” Canaan if you were actually them. What was written was out of spite after being forced out of Egypt, after causing issues in the region. The Book of Jubilee indicates Canaan settled there. Just like America was not “discovered”, Canaan was not “promised”. It’s the same dehumanization, entitlement, and Enslavement story from a group that calls themselves the “chosen”. We are seeing the same psychological playbook now with Israel and Palestine. Israel actually helped fund Hamas to tie the idea of terrorist to Palestinians after overthrowing the PLO. Oppressors are terrified of the oppressed. Look at the Bible as a psychological playbook with some astronomical metaphors. Then, cross reference that with Egyptian history. Men wrote the Bible and we must observe the potential for bias and strategy.
There is evidence of child sacrifice in Canaan. An ancient religious canaanite site was excavated and they unearthed almost 10+ jars containing burnt infant remains, the temple also contained multiple decapitated bodies and one body that was literally sawn in half.

A moloch was likely an animal sacrifice performed by the king to show loyalty to the gods They kept good records about their faith for example, what gods received what offering at what time of the year, who it was written by, and who commissioned it. There are records of them talking about their gods getting shit-face drunk and falling into their own filth, they spoke openly with little shame.
For the list at 4:15 for example, Molech can hardly be coutned as a god. There aren't really attestations to a god of that name, outside of the bible, whose writers had immediate material interests in portraying it the way they did. With our current understanding, Molech/moloch refers to a type of sacrifice, in which a child/animal/money could be presented as an offering to a given deity, to ensure the suvival of future children - which was a persuasive idea, in a time where 50% died in infancy. There are traces throughout the OT of YHWH partaking in such human sacrifice, and passsages dictating that that will no longer be necessary to placate him.
Yea, I saw it going both ways. Some scholars say Molech was a type of sacrifice, but other scholars (often older scholars) say Molech was a deity. So I just decided to include Molech and noted he could be a type of sacrifice and that its debated.
Dude, you know in the Bible the prophets were always criticising Israel for overlapping with Canaanites? So little surprise if archeology discovers an overlap.
@@grantbartley483 They didn't just intermarry. The Hebrews were Canaanites. Just like the Phoenicians. They all share DNA, but somewhat different cultures. Whereas the Philistines did migrate into the area (thought to be Sea Peoples). The Philistines did intermarry and were genetically assimilated.

When the animals were sacrificed and the blood removed, was it collected up to be used as fertiliser on fields or something? Also, aren't there 3 lists of commandments in the Old Testament, one that the first born of a mans possessions be sacrificed to Yahweh on the 8th day.. so presumably this also includes the first born child as well?..unless there's some further list of instructions about how various 'first borns ' should be treated...considering how incredibly brutal the battle of Jericho was (hopefully it's a myth), one wonders what was socially acceptable in those days.
Interesting what you mention about (the non-occurence of) temple prostitution. My master's thesis was on this subject as it has been suggested to have occurred throughout mainly the Middle East and some parts of the Greek world. My careful conclusion was that if some practices occurred, they were either not religious or prostitution (but rather, either exploitation of female slaves by a temple for monetary gain, or some kind of ritual passage). But historian Stephanie Lynn Budin goes further and says it's complete nonsense. I have yet to read her book, but it seems to be mostly a 19th century myth based on misinterpretation or very easy acceptance of ancient sources - which are mostly Greek and paint the people of the Middle East as having weird savage rituals.
Interesting that's actually what I read recently from Robert Bellah. He said that Heretodus misunderstood Mesopotamian rituals which is the origin of the idea of temple prostitution (I believe that's what he said). It appears to me that even in Polytheism, you have a head or top god. Then you have a bunch of lower gods. So, when poly & henotheism became monotheism, do you think those gods where transformed into angels? Now, the three monotheistic religions don't have gods but they have angels who serve under God.

I've had the idea before, but never really put it into action, and I won't for a while (I've got 3 projects down the pipe before I think about doing something different). I think Esoterica hit the nail on the head in his video, and my video would probably be very similar to what he said. My projects I'm working on now are focused on more archaeological and political history topics that are somewhat underrated, so that's my main focuses for videos right now. However, I would not be opposed to doing a video on Yahweh in the future.

Yeah, this does not contradict the bible. The bible actually says that the Israelites mixed worship of Yahweh with worship of other gods, and that God (Yahweh) detests this.
The Bible also refers to other gods as tho they’re real. Yahweh doesn’t hate other God’s, he hates gods who dare be placed above him. Read the Ten Commandments.
The Hebrews are distinct people from the Kanaanites. They came from Shem. Both of these people hold a significant place in biblical history. The Hebrews trace their lineage back to Abraham, the son of Tera, with the term 'Hebrew' derived from the Paleo Hebrew word 'Eber children' (Gen 11: 11-26). The Kanaanites, on the other hand, were from Ham, a people with a rich cultural and historical background. They were the first to acknowledge YAHWEH, and Melchizedek, a Jebusite/Kanaanite, was the first man in the Bible to be a King-Priest of YAHWEH EL SHADDAI (Gen 14:17-22). Abraham, in a display of courage and righteousness, joined forces with the righteous Amorites to pursue the five kings who had plundered Sodom and taken its people. Their successful rescue of all the captives and the loot (Gen 14 1:16) is a testament to their strength and determination. In a significant encounter, the king of Sodom stood beside Melchizedek as they came out to meet Abraham. King Sodom knew the truth, but Sodom became a sinful city. Turning slowly away from YAHWEH. This was a warning to this city. This was the first recorded instance of tithing. Abraham, in a gesture of respect, returned the tithe that the king of Sodom had ceased to give to Melchizedek as the High Priest. In a profound act of worship, Melchizedek, a black man, and Abraham raised their hands to YAHWEH EL SHADDAI. This act of worship, led by Melchizedek, the first man in the Bible to be a King-Priest of YAHWEH EL SHADDAI, is a powerful testament to his significance in religious history. He also knew that this was a warning and that it was the righteousness of Abraham. David knew that YAHSHUA would come in the order of the righteous King-Priest Melchizedek, a black man (Ps 110:4). Paul also says even more about this black man and what his order stood for in the New Testament. Then, the lie: Paul said there is no recorded history that the Hebrews knew of his parents or ancestors. Historians today, as is my profession, have stated that many people do not have a recorded birth record! (Heb 5:6, 10; 6:20; 7:1, 10, 11, 15, 17, 21) Finally, the Pharisees were the Levite scribes who were supposed to protect the Commandments, Judgments, statutes, and Laws about the Sacrificial system. When they returned after the Babylonian captivity, they changed. By the time of the Macabbeans revolt, they called themselves the 'pious ones.' They first stop Israel from saying and praying THE NAME of YAHWEH! They did not want it to be known that the Kanaanites knew the truth first and HIS NAME. They lied about Ham, Kanaan, and Melchizedek. They tried to say both Ham and his son Kanaan were cursed. This was an outrageous lie! The Paleo-Hebrew language states clearly that Ham went into his father, saw he was naked, and quickly turned to tell his brothers to get clothes to cover him. Why did he go in first? All three sons came to check on their drunk father. If their mother was alive, she would have covered him herself! When the three brothers went to the tent, they recognized a child's voice and who it was. I believed the child was probably crying in dismays! The Paleo-Hebrew word made it very clear that Kanaan was really young. But lies were told, and the Europeans helped cover up the truth! Noah was supposed to name Kanaan as the birthright for Ham. Shem and Kanaan were to be blessed. It was their lineage that YAHSHUA was to come; many Kanaanites remained faithful, even during YAHSHUA! To debunk the curse, only four black Kanaanite women are mentioned. These women start with Judah, who had twins with his daughter-in-law. Judah's wife and both his older sons were dead. (Read Gen Chapter Thirty-Eight) The next three are Rahab, Ruth, and Bathsheba! (Read Matthew Chapter One) The Pharisees' manipulation of historical and religious truths is a stark reminder of the need for serious research in our studies. The Pharisees first wrote the Mishna writings between 20 and 220 C.E., called the Tannaim Period. Two Talmuds were written, one in Jerusalem 400 CE (not completed) and the other in Babylon 500 CE, which is the most acceptable. Clearly, the Hebrews were scattered, and few remained during the revolt. However, the Bible clarified it in Gen 9:27 and Deut Chapter Twenty-Eight. Noah did give the birthright of Japheth that his seed would dwell in the tents of Shem. This came true, and that is what made Esther's book canonized. This is when white people, Japheth seed, took over and accepted the false belief of the Rabbinical Judaic religion. It started in the Book of Esther, and by 200 CE, they began to take over the position of the Rabbi leaders, and they wrote more against the principles. The Hebrew seed was destroyed, and Japheth seed took over. They knew it and wrote the truth in their early almanacs. They eventually accepted the pagan name, God, as did Islam. None of YAHSHUA'S disciples or apostles ever claimed or announced they were Christian; this word is only mentioned three times in the New Testament. I have provided the complete history of the Kanaanites, the Hebrews, and later the Jews based on extensive research and historical evidence. Because more artifacts have been found to show the truth I have given. Now they want to say the Hebrews are Kanaanites, black people want to lie and say they come from Shem, and the Europeans and Jews distort the truth, adding things to the Bible and the Torah that are not in the original Paleo-Hebrew the language of the Kanaanites! I encourage you to explore these references and artifacts to further deepen your understanding of these historical and religious facts.
